HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Good, baseball will be better without him.

Yeah, you knew something was coming soon. They couldn't carry on like this. He's been done for a little while, even over and above his other issues.
And yes, let's make no mistake: he cheated like a motherfucker.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:09 AM ^
Yeah, it's hard for me to care about this. Could have went down as one of the game's greats, but he couldn't do it the right way. I'm a little surprised it's doing down like this, not even finishing the season, but he doesn't deserve any better.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:15 AM ^
I think it was clear that he wasn't going back into the lineup, under any circumstances.
I suspect that Friday's game is going to be the only one he's going to get. (EDIT: He just said nearly that exact thing)
August 7th, 2016 at 11:58 AM ^
now retire his number?
(ducks)
And he's 13th best at pretend made up stuff?
Cool. He still ruined his career by shooting steroids into his butt.

Watch it. You don't want to get on Brian Kenny's bad side.

Too fun watching his bitch ass cry
August 7th, 2016 at 11:14 AM ^
Fuck him and the Yankees.

I knew it! Even Santa hates the Yankees.

I suspect that the Yankees are going to be on the hook for his contract, as they are releasing him on Friday.

The Yankees dealt Roberto Kelly to Cincy for Paul O'Neill at the end of the '92 season.
Molly O'Neill, his sister, left the New York Times for Simon & Schuster as a free agent.

A-Rod was a true Yankee: A real asshole.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:21 AM ^
i cant think of a player that more people genuinely dislike than alex rodriguez other than bonds. him and barry bonds are just on an entirely different level of douche bagery
August 7th, 2016 at 11:28 AM ^
It's all self-inflicted on their parts. Bonds and A-Rod should have thought about that before they did what they did.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:39 AM ^
not only did they cheat. but they acted like such jerks when they were found out.
August 7th, 2016 at 11:57 AM ^
Pre-steroid Barry Bonds was the best baseball player in the world that no one cared about. He did plenty of thinking before he used PED's.
August 7th, 2016 at 12:53 PM ^
He's the villain, but baseball in San Francisco probably doesn't exist without Barry Bonds.
You're right, but close behind those two are roger clemens, and rafael "Let me start by telling you this...." palmiero.

- how to insert needles and get away with it?
- how to pick up bra models in the stands DURING the game?
- how to make everyone hate you and still get paid $41 milkion over 2 years?

Like he just said in his press conf - he played 22 years in the big leagues and made a lot of mistakes both on and off the field. He has a lot of knowledge to pass on to the up and comers so that they don't make the same mistakes.
I was never a fan of his but he was a 5 tool guy and one of the great players ever to play. He will be a fantastic resource for young shortstops.

I just saw this on Twitter, although admittedly I did wonder if it would be accompanied by the news of massive layoffs at Biogenesis down in Coral Gables. I guess they plan to soldier on - I couldn't get a comment from their site.
I hope the Yankees like writing those checks since they are probably on the hook for that money. They can afford it, of course, but still....

Pujols hit 40 bombs last year. He's at 21 with 85 RBI's this year.
Here's Pujols' deal;. 5 years left at $140 after this year:

And here's one more in our own backyard. 7 years left at $212, with 2 option years after that:

Pujols isn't awful; he's got decent numbers and + power but he's nowhere near the guy who hit .300 with power in St. Louis.
I actually think the Josh Hamilton contract is one of the worst in baseball.
August 7th, 2016 at 12:22 PM ^
RE: Pujols: Exactly.
Take a good look at Pujols' career totals. He's already over 2700 hits and closing in on 600 HRs and 1800 RBI. By the end of his career he could very easily be looking at 3400 hits, 700 HRs and 2100 RBI. All with an average in the .295 range (yes, he's at .309 career now, but his average has been dropping like a stone since he went to Anaheim).
As for Hamilton's contract, that one was a 5- year deal, the kind that is not of the "franchise-crippling" variety that these 10-year deals can be.
Talk to the Mets about Bobby Bonila. That's how you write up a bad contract.

With A-Rod, whatever. Just another juicer that most everyone is glad to see finally leaving the game.
