One departure.......unexpected...

Unfortunately we have one near term departure and maybe a second. As much as I hate the off-season things happen. TE Devin Asiasi has some family issues to attend to. He is currently in California and may not return. Even if he does, there may be eligibility issues due to not attending classes. The second player in doubt along the OL has been extremely quiet. Still waiting to see how it plays out. Perry will likely return. So far so good.

FWIW: My shitty week:

I hate my job,  Have been in protracted application/negotiations for another job: 30% pay raise, more job stablity, much better benefits.

Fell through today.

So; my wife doesn't want to leave where we live (Maryland) unless we go back to Michigan.  Which would probably be a $200K+ cut in our household income.

So...excuse me for minimizing Michigan's #5 recrutiing class.

I've defended you, WD, but there is more shit in life than Michgan athletics. Grow the fuck up.

PS: My senior partner's father died Monday.  Woo.

Man, one thing I've learned in life even more recently is that life stands still in times of despair and anger-infusing moments but there is a light at the end of the tunnel every time. I've dealt with a lot the past few years as well, and eventually those tough spots are just bumps in the road that allow you to grow. This week sucked for you I'm sure, but soon you will be back to taking life on full boar with an enthusiasm unknown to mankind again. Sorry to hear about your week, buddy.

Did Asiasi even travel to and play in the bowl game against FSU? If he did, he didn't get hardly any snaps, because I kept looking for him when we were on offense and he wasn't out there.

Very different kinds of movies, obviously, but more involving to me.  (Both of these have incredible child actors, by the way.)  Arrival, especially if you miss "intelligent" science fiction...

I know a couple of people who hated LaLaLand, thinking it phony.  But then one is a musician and the other a former Rockette.  For me it eventually paid off, but took a long way to get there.

I've seen Moonlight, Hidden Figures, Arrival, Hell or High Water, and Manchester by the Sea and of those I thought Manchester was the best picture with Moonlight second. I thought all of them were good though. Still need to knock out Lion, Fences, La La Land, and Hacksaw before the Oscars. Never seen EVERY nomination before.

Enjoy your posts. Thank you. I also review your posting summaries. This allows me to avoid reading 300 other posts that may or may not be relevant or insightful. However, if I click one of your replies, it does not take me to your individual post. So, I cannot readily see the post to which you replied. If you reference the topic in the summary line, it would be easier to follow. Just a request and again thank you for your effort. Go Blue. In Hoc Signo Vinces

player with a bright future, and one with as much upside as anyone.  Really enjoyed watching him play this year and was completely impressed.  Hopefully there is a way for him to stay at Michigan, but wish him the very best no matter what.

If a student has to leave school for family reasons and misses a semester, but then returns, can Michigan file for an exception with NCAA?

I hope everything turns okay for Devin. I was really looking forward to watching him turn into an all-american as a Wolverine.

If all we get is one year of Devin, I say it is better to have Asiasi'ed and lost than to have never Asiasi'ed at all.

Godspeed son, hope you come back.

Way too lazy to look it up, but I imagine the NCAA has standards of progress that student-athletes have to meet to maintain eligibility. So not only GPA, but a certain number of credits toward graduation completed. I don't know if it's possible to take a whole semester off and then take summer classes to meet that standard, but I wouldn't be surprised if missing a whole semester would not be allowable under NCAA eligibility rules. But really if it is an ongoing family issue it may be that he wants to be closer to home permanently, so the question of eligibility may be moot.

The Team will be just fine. He was rounding into a heckuva blocker and I looked forward to him catching more passes in 2017. Hope all is well with his family and he can return. Godspeed.

That blows. I really like that kid and hope he can get things sorted out. He has a super bright future and I was really impressed in his willingness to break out of Cali and take an opportunity. Kid is a real leader. Loved watch blow people up blocking downfield. I'll cheer for him wherever he ends up but I hope it's back with us.

There was an article posted yesterday after NSD that quoted Pep Hamilton as saying hes excited to work with the new guys on the offense along with see what guys like asiasi, wheatley jr, bunting and drake harris can do. Also yesterday asiasi was tweeting with other guys from michigan like david long and ron johnson. Nothing out there says that he is gone or at home other than some unsubstantiated rumors from some weird source on the internet and an Ohio State student.

If there was something crazy going on it had to happen in the last 20 hours which would be hard to know all the facts right now. He was on social media within the last day talking to his teammates talking about being a student athlete. I mean if there was something where he needed to be home and miss class and be with the family he wouldnt be on twitter joking with teammates
