The W is all that matters. I think this Rutgers team is going to surprise some teams this year. I'm just glad it wasn't us.
Get some rest and get ready for Wisconsin.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:19 PM ^
Our QB looked like he had never seen a defense in the second half. That’s concerning.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:24 PM ^
And in the first half he was lighting shit on fire until he missed the TD pass. Maybe something happened? Don't know about you, but I'll give him a chance to work on it.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:27 PM ^
He got a shot to the head is what happened.
Also cade wasn’t good, but the wrs gotta make some of these diving/difficult catches. Even if it’s only every 1 out of 4.
September 26th, 2021 at 3:03 PM ^
So you're saying the medical staff on the Michigan sideline missed an obvious concussion?
September 25th, 2021 at 8:55 PM ^
He was indecisive when things got tight. Can’t have that. That 3rd and 5 throw was not good. Double clutch late. He looked scared to let it rip.
September 25th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
When you pass on first down 6/22 and only 1 pass was legit play action , the other team knows what you going to do .
September 25th, 2021 at 8:22 PM ^
Miami OH in 2008 was a “win is a win”
Akron in 2013 was a “win is a win”
Air Force in 2017 was a “win is a win”
Indiana in 2018 was a “win is a win”
im not intentionally being snarky, but these games often are a diagnosis of what will come against better teams.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:30 PM ^
I appreciate your perspective and opinion. I'm just not going to worry too much about the future. No matter what happens, I'll still be happy to be watching Michigan football. Life is too short to worry about what a so-so victory means, so I'll celebrate these small victories even if they are an ominous sign of things to come. ?♂️
September 25th, 2021 at 8:41 PM ^
Nah good point, I’ll always root for Michigan. I’m happy I’ve allowed Michigan football just be a hobby for me now, rather than a lifestyle. I hope Michigan turns the corner eventually but life is life
September 25th, 2021 at 8:30 PM ^
Ball State 2006 was not that case, nor was Iowa 1997.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:32 PM ^
Cool glad you posted this but in the next 3 weeks what good teams will michigan be playing?
Wisconsin offense is way worse than rutgers.. Nebraska is terrible, then who do we play NW?
Based on talent we should beat all of them but after the playcalling on display today we could easily lose to 2 of those shitty teams
September 25th, 2021 at 8:39 PM ^
You forgot Army 2019
September 26th, 2021 at 7:16 AM ^
It's so clearly and obviously indicative of what's to come that even pretending anything otherwise seems insane to me. We've seen this. Everyone has seen this. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills when I check the board after the game and see a single person trying to pretend it's anything but what it so clearly is.
I'm not even being pessimistic or a downer. A win is always better than a loss. I'm good. I just never bought the early success because it was against trash teams. I knew the second UM faced even an average B1G team they'd run into 9-man boxes, ignore what the defense was daring them to attack and look inept again.
I don't care if it's Gattis or Jim or a combo of the two. The game today is a feature of a Jim Harbaugh team. He wants to do what he wants to do and it will work or it won't. The opponent doesn't change the plan. The in-game situation doesn't change the plan. The opposition's strengths, weaknesses and adaptations do not change the plan.
UW is a bad team and they'll likely club UM like a baby seal next week. We can all already imagine what it looks like, I know you can. This team is what it always was. You have always been here, Mr. Torrance.
September 25th, 2021 at 9:44 PM ^
No, there is something more than just the W. How you achieve that W against a so-so team is crucial in determining how you will play against better teams.
If a Coach can't figure out that running up the middle a hundred times against a stacked line to get virtually nothing oh, then I will not go good against better teams. If a Coach can figure out that there's something may be wrong with the quarterback and doesn't want to put in another one, then it will not bode well against a good team.

I'm a special snowflake! IBD
September 25th, 2021 at 7:50 PM ^
There's bad and whatever that was.
September 25th, 2021 at 7:51 PM ^
+1. This is a snowflake but whatever. Remember all those years where OSU would get sandblasted by like Iowa and Purdue before they would ream us?
Not saying we're anywhere as good as those teams, but simply saying that games exist in vacuums. We might lose next week. We might win next week. Who knows.
The team you like won a game. Be happy you idiots.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:00 PM ^
Lol. “Be happy you idiots. You got a first down in the second half against Rutgez!”
September 25th, 2021 at 8:05 PM ^
Fine, don’t be happy. Who am I to stop you from seeking what you want.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:13 PM ^
Just ignore him. The Offense Snowflakes thread is littered with his piss and vinegar.
I'm with you. It wasn't a satisfying win, but our team won. And we're 4-0. Now I'm going to have a beer and enjoy some other football.
September 25th, 2021 at 10:20 PM ^
Agree. The exact same people crying that a football game ruined their day are the same people that will say “Wisconsin isn’t any good this year” if UM wins next week. Not at all saying they will, but I guarantee that will happen if they do.
people just live to be unhappy for some reason. It’s disturbing.
September 26th, 2021 at 8:18 AM ^
Any win for Jim on the road is a good win. It’s foolish to think otherwise with how easily his teams have crumbled in hostile environments
September 25th, 2021 at 7:59 PM ^
Wisconsin is going to take our frickin' kidney.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:06 PM ^
Wisconsin got their asses kicked today.
I'm actually less worried about playing them than I was yesterday despite our offense being replaced by Keebler elves in the second half.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:39 PM ^
Uh no.
Keep thinking that if that gives you some hope at Camp Randall on Saturday. Wisconsin lead this game in the 4th. They were forced into some bad pick 6's when they got desperate, but their D is much better than Rutger.
The Badger defense is disciplined, swarming and takes good angels. If you're less worried about playing them after today then I suggest start drinking early in the morning next Saturday.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:43 PM ^
ND had 242 total yds today.
September 25th, 2021 at 9:35 PM ^
Exactly.
Wisconsin held ND to a whopping 3 TOTAL rushing yards for the game. 21 of their 31 points in the 4thQ came from 2 pick 6's and a KO Return for a TD.
This was @ South Bend and does not translate well if we can't throw the football next week.
September 25th, 2021 at 10:04 PM ^
The game was a neutral site- Chicago, Soldier Field. You were doing so well with that recap, too.
September 26th, 2021 at 8:04 AM ^
Hot take: I Don't think Wisconsin OR notre dame have shown anything that would make me highly worried to play either. I'm not saying we have a cakewalk ahead of us. But I don't think this Wisconsin is very good this year.
September 25th, 2021 at 9:19 PM ^
Worrying and fretting about what's going to happen a week from now won't change what's going to happen a week from now. Why waste your time?
September 25th, 2021 at 8:45 PM ^
I'm not impressed with either Wisconsin or Notre Dame, but Wisconsin was up by 3 in the fourth. Their D is good--21 of those ND points were a KO return and 2 pick 6s.
Wisconsin should stuff the offense worse than Rutgers did. The rest? Who knows.
September 25th, 2021 at 9:19 PM ^
Now now, don't sleep on the Keebler Elves. Ernie runs a mean read option game. I think they'd give Clemson a run for their money!
September 25th, 2021 at 9:56 PM ^
Wisconsin gave that game away today. ND didn't do shit without turnovers.
September 25th, 2021 at 7:57 PM ^
One team made adjustments, the other did not. But we won
September 25th, 2021 at 7:57 PM ^
Indeed I should have more perspective. It makes sense they kept going 3 and out while looking ahead to Wisconsin. They’re getting their shit ass offense and inability to play on the road practice in before next week.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:19 PM ^
Stop being a female dog. Now.
September 25th, 2021 at 9:10 PM ^
Don't worry
We'll get a "Perspective" diary this week (maybe tow or three) where someone will tell us what a great fan they are for still believing
September 25th, 2021 at 7:58 PM ^
Upset weekend
September 25th, 2021 at 7:59 PM ^
Thankful Michigan is 4 & 0 and 1 & 0. Should feel better than I do as a Michigan fan at the moment. You are right we looked really flat in the second half. Glad it did not cause us to lose today. Michigan played a great first half. Hope Michigan plays well for 60 minutes next week. Agree with those who say Rutgers will win some more games this year. Credit to them for coming back and credit to the Michigan Defense for making big stops 4th quarter. Just one flat half out of 8 so far. Beat Wisconsin. Enjoy the rest of your weekend fellow MGoBloggers.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:00 PM ^
Glad they got the win. Hopefully this game can be some kind of wake-up call to the players and coaches that they can't run vanilla offense for 350 rushing yards through the B1G schedule. The playcalling and execution has to be better or they're going to come up short of conference championship caliber. Not that I expect that of this team, but that's the goal.
September 25th, 2021 at 8:00 PM ^
Now that the easiest part of our schedule is done .........let me know how many more bad half's we have. Enjoy these first 4 weeks. 4-0. I predicted 6-6 for the season. I'm not changing my prediction.
September 26th, 2021 at 8:34 AM ^
Wow. You keep posting this nonsense.
Enjoy these first 4 weeks. 4-0. I predicted 6-6 for the season. I'm not changing my prediction.
It was stupid when you originally posted it. It’s stupid now. I’m going to enjoy the rest of the weekend and savor the W. There are a lot of really talented teams that have losses this year and are worse off than 4-0. And several top teams with close calls too.
“You are what your record says you are.”
September 25th, 2021 at 8:04 PM ^
Brings up the argument: is it true tto say “A win is a win” regardless of how it happens?
September 25th, 2021 at 8:05 PM ^
Clemson has achieved great things over the past decade.
We haven't done shit in 20 years.
Clemson having a rough year does not a trend make.
Michigan being September champs and finishing every year as a middling team is the program's identity.
