Oline love deserves their own thread.
The oline was fantastic tonight! I have been hard on Barnhart this year, but he was great tonight. I really thought we would notice a big drop off with Zinter out, nope they were still really good. This line my not be as good as the last 2, but damnit they play hard and together. Go Blue!

I love the OLine and I love most everyone! Especially Michigan players, coaches and fans!!!

Should have been back to back to back Moore winners

Can we have a moment of appreciation for Trente Jones?
January 1st, 2024 at 11:24 PM ^
He played great! So happy for the kid.

My question is why wasnt he starting all year lol? Clearly better than Barnhart at Tackle

I certainly expected a few sacks on JJ tonight but was pleasantly surprised

Love that guy. He killed it. Great human too

Love Zinter, but the O-line as a whole may actually be better with Barnhart forced to play guard.
I think the difference between Jones and Barnhart at tackle is greater than Zinter and Barnhart at guard.
Zinter is all world, and hurts to lose him, but not sure what the staff was seeing with Barnhart over Jones at tackle all year.
Just my 2 cents.

Barnhart is better on the interior than he is at Tackle.
Which is interesting because he is not a mauler but he moves his feet well, knows is assignments which at Guard can be more complicated and he does well in his combo 2nd level blocks.

Barnhart has a lot of experience and is very smart on the field. But you won't get enough upvotes for your post. He's a natural OG, so I wasn't too worried about the interior - even if Zinter is the better OG player. There was never going to be much of a dropoff from Zinter to Barnhart at guard. But the improvement from Barnhart to Jones at tackle is noticeable.

My guess is that Barnhart is the best communicator.

Did a stand-up job against elite pass rushers. Run blocking was on point as well!
January 1st, 2024 at 11:26 PM ^
True that! That was some of if not the best pass protection we’ve seen all season for sure! Zinter going down really had me worried but whatever adjustments they made were fantastic!
January 1st, 2024 at 11:30 PM ^
Putting Jones in at tackle. Imagine having Jones at tackle and zinter at guard all year?
January 1st, 2024 at 11:52 PM ^
Did this change happen in the 4th against OSU, after the Zinter injury? Cause we ran really well in that 4th quarter too.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:27 PM ^
I think the line played overall better than the last two playoff games even though they didnt look as great during the rest of the season
January 1st, 2024 at 11:27 PM ^
I have NO IDEA what the hell the staff saw in Barnhart over Jones. My goodness he did splendid. What a great job Barnhart had at guard! Holy crap

Trente is the biggest mystery in the world. That dude has been great.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:38 PM ^
Seems more on the coaching staff. I think everyone on here has been calling for Jones to start at tackle all year. Still not sure what they were seeing that we weren't? Grading in ufr's pointed that out as well.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:43 PM ^
Yeah, why would we trust the coaching staff? They clearly don't know what they're doing.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:29 PM ^
Good pass pro, pretty darn good on the run game. They did not drop any passes, mud any punts or short any kicks.

I can't sleep. Work gonna suck tomorrow.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:36 PM ^
You sound sick. Should get that checked out

I concur.

There is no crime to report tomorrow. Take the day off.

There will be little or no crime tomorrow for you to report on because even the bad guys make New Years resolutions to turn over a new leaf and better themselves.
Take a sick/wellness day.

The line seems better with Trente and Barnhart than when Barnhart was at tackle and Trente was not starting.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:34 PM ^
Yes they do. Incredible game by that group. Can’t recall any busts by them against an incredible defense.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:35 PM ^
The run game was there. JJ was good. No guys knifing in except that flea flicker.
Good stuff all around
January 1st, 2024 at 11:35 PM ^
Seriously -- I'll admit I'm an amateur here but I'd be surprised if the entire O-line doesn't grade out well. I just can't remember any glaring blowups against a very good defense. They've had their struggles this season, especially at tackle, but they really showed up for this game.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:40 PM ^
Suddenly tackle looked much better. What did Michigan do differently this game?
January 1st, 2024 at 11:38 PM ^
How about both lines?
We fucking manhandled them in the trenches. This is a prototypical Harbaugh team.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:39 PM ^
This team is special. OL & DL especially special. They won the LOS this evening against a 5 star load Bama team.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:44 PM ^
Barnhart pulling and leading the way on the winner was great. Also shout out to Bredesen who was murdering guys, including Alabama's incredible freshman safety on the game winner. Annoyed by the penalty he got.
CJ also did a nice job blocking Arnold on the winner.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:49 PM ^
They were awesome tonight. All the prognosticators said they would be killed by the Alabama edge rushers but they held up very well. Huge reason for the win.
January 1st, 2024 at 11:51 PM ^
Yes they do.
January 2nd, 2024 at 12:15 AM ^
Sherrone Moore is a living legend. And his career has just begun!
January 2nd, 2024 at 12:15 AM ^
It was tough sledding in the second half, especially in the third quarter, but they stepped up. When all the world was declaring Alabama the inevitable winner, they stepped up. Without their captain, and unanimous all American, they stepped up.
it wasn’t pretty, but they did what they needed to do. And they delivered when they needed to deliver. Again, it was an ugly second-half for the most part, but those final minutes in the fourth quarter and overtime? They nutted the fuck up.
