If Alabama wanted to go to the playoff then they should have won their conference. They didn’t even win their division.

It’s better for college football if the conference championship games actually mean something. Make them part of the playoff.

I know people around here like to rip on the Big Ten like it’s still 2012 but it was a strong conference this season and OSU won it. Alabama might be the better team but they played a weak schedule and didn’t even make the SEC championship game. Put the Buckeyes in and let them get destroyed by Clemson again.

We deserve to go, TCU doesn't play a conference championship - 2014. Conference championships are not that important - 2016. You shouldn't get to go to the playoffs without a conference championship - 2017.

If Ohio gets in then I think we can all say the committee is bias. This happened last year. The 1 loss team went to the playoff over the 2 loss champ. Ya Ohio had the better resume last year over bama this year but bama didn't get blown out twice. Plus whoever is in plays Clemson. The committee would rather see Clemson vs bama III over a 31-0 rematch of last year.

I agree but NCAA is all about money and ratings. They proved that when tcu went from 3 to 6 the first to have osu in. If it was Texas they would've gotten in. Osu is bigger than tcu why they got in. And I think bama vs Clemson will be higher rating than osu vs Clemson cuz of the result last year. And cfp to me all year wanted it to be Clemson bama part 3

OSU is in. Alabama played 11 FBS opponents while OSU played 13 and won the conference championship. Sucks because I doubt anyone wants to watch Clemson house them for the second playoff in a row, but it is what it is.

I may be wrong, but IMO there is no way the SEC gets jobbed and Alabama doesn't get in. Now we will see the if talk about champions carries weight or if SEC bias holds. I am predicting the latter.

You gotta be kidding me.

You lose in November to a 7-5 team by 31 and you deserve to compete for a national championship? That's the dumbest fucking thing I've heard all year, and I've heard some whoppers this year.

They have an additional loss.

That additional loss, when compared to Alabama's ONLY loss, is worse.

Alabama lost on the road. OSU's loss was AT HOME.

What, regular season losses don't count anymore in something as restrictive as a 4 team playoff?

This isn't CBB, where quality wins put you in a 68 team field.

This is CFB, where you're supposed to have little, if any, margin for error. You lose at home and get boatraced by a 7-5 team in November? Sorry, but fuck you. Actually, not sorry. FUCK OHIO STATE.

And Alabama deserves to play for the national championship because they beat Mercer in November? Both teams have serious resume flaws that would justify leaving them out. But at least OSU has some quality wins and a conference title to hand their hat on. Alabama has what, an opening weekend W over Florida State?

in November to a near .500 team.

You don't look to "at least" to put a team in 4 team playoff who is guilty of that sin.

If it were a one off loss, in this year, maybe.

But it was their second loss and it was a mama hide the children style whupping.

It's disqualifying. And once you're disqualified, you don't look to the "at least" category.

Also, fuck Ohio State. Or are you not clear on that point?

That’s a loaded term. I’ll say this: OSU will be in. I’m 100% sure of it. The Committee ain’t gonna lock out the Big 10 completely. Not gonna happen.

Rematch of OSU vs Clemson. Might be a *little* closer this time.

I think OSU is quite a bit stronger in the run game. What'll be interesting to me is how effective JT will be vs. Clemson -- a team that's quite a bit better than Wisconsin -- and how long a leash he'll be given. If I'm Meyer, I'm not hesitating too long to pull him for my backup if needed, because we've all seen what he can do.

If I had to pick a score now?

Clemson - 35

Ohio State - 23

That there wasn't much separating 5-8 (Alabama and OSU). This was last Tuesday. Now, OSU beat an undefeated top 5 team for a conference title and one of Alabamas ranked wins (Fresno State) will fall out of the top 25. The writing is on the wall. I predict the rankings look like this. Oklahoma Clemson Georgia OSU

According to Sagarin, OSU's strength of schedule was 12 spots higher (42, as opposed to 54) even before OSU played Wisconsin, so it seems unlikely that Alabama could have a stronger SOS by any measure at this point.

Make no mistake, OSU got in last year becuase of the name of their head coach. They would've got in this year too, but unfortuantely for them, the spot they are going after is also the same spot Nick Saban is going after. And there is a hierarchy of coaches.

It's pretty much why we were ranked this year, no? The Harbaugh factor. Only teams with name brand head coaches get ranked regardless if they only have one returning starter or not. Seems like getting into the CFP works the same if you are on the bubble.

Alabama reminds me of the 2015 buckeyes
One loss, no real game changing wins. that team was left out.

I know we hate OSU, but I just don’t see what the majority of this board is seeing saying bama deserves to be in.
Their best win is LSU and Miss st
That is the equivalent of beating MSU and Michigan.
OSU also beat psu.
Better wins > bad loss
Conference champion > non division winner.

Let not be delusional OSU should be in before bama.

I will go throw up now that I have wrote all of this.

I can't believe it's okay to get fucking steamrolled by a near .500 team in November for your second loss and still get in to a FOUR team playoff.

The committee left B1G champ PSU out last season mainly due to their 39 point loss to Michigan.  I can see the committee doing the same thing to OSU this season with that Iowa massacre being the main reason.  Clemson - Alabama is a title game rematch and it makes for better TV than Clemson - OSU.  I think there is about a 10% chance OSU gets in.

Except that last year the decision to swap OSU for PSU was low-cost.  They were putting in a Big Ten team regardless.

This year, that decison has a very high cost.  They would be leaving out a Big Ten team in favor of two SEC teams.

That's the nuclear threshold, and they know it.
