As a CMU grad myself I have my opinions on Kelly and they aren't good. The way he left his job there to go to Cincinnati was distasteful. The way Kelly treats his players and goes crazy when they make mistakes is the inhuman. I enjoy every time he loses a game, not just because he coaches a school I can't stand, but because he is the definition of an asshole.

Kelly and Van Gorder have some history together—Van Gorder was LB coach at GVSU for two years under DC Kelly, and then was DC for one year there after Kelly was promoted to HC.

Van Gorder's resume reminds me of GERG's—some successful years as DC that are balanced by other years as DC or HC that are craptastic.

Kelly's demeanor struck me as someone who is out of ideas and has no idea what to do next.
What does "evaluating all 22 positions" say about Kelly? Isn't a good coach doing that constantly?

Possible that ND, LSU and USC will all be looking for coaches this offseason. Outside Herman, I wonder who the big candidates would be. 

Can't stand the bastard, but Narduzzi would have to be one. And PJ Fleck. Not sure who else.
