In tears after the Corso tribute.
October 8th, 2016 at 11:57 AM ^
That was beautiful. What a cool guy.
"Thanks for ESPN for not firing me after I had my stroke". That was moving.

Can anyone provide a link to this video? I've been googling and can't find anything.
EDIT: Wasn't working on iPhone, but I found it here.

It's his 20 year anniversary of headgear picks.
He's on camera battling post-stroke, I mean it's tough to watch if you actually watch the entire show. He's barely coherant anymore, he couldn't get Desmonds name out in the opening segment and when he finally was able to get something out...he called him "Eric."
The opening segment was so tough he felt the need to address it in his next chance to speak. So he clearly knows what's going on.
Struggled all show and then Rinaldi did a 20 year anniversary segment on his headgear picks while Brutus (the initial headgear) "wrote" him a letter. When they went back to the set, he was in tears. Thanks Herbie and his wife (who used to be a cheerleader) for getting him the Brutus head to kick everything off. He thanked the other crew, the production crew...then he thanked the fans.
Fans went nuts, chanted "CORSO! CORSO! CORSO!" and he couldn't hold it back anymore, he started crying and his mic was open.
Rece Davis did a great job of keeping the show going by honoring him rather than the awkward dead air of listening to him cry.
Half of me hopes he moves on because it's so tough watching him struggle the way he does. When he couldn't get Desmond's name out today it was so uncomfortable.
At the same time, he made the show. Period. So if this is what keeps him going and if this is what brings him happiness in life...fuck my uncomfort, right?

You know who would be a good replacement for Corso on Gameday? Les Miles. Seriously, I could see him having a lot of fun at it.
October 8th, 2016 at 12:27 PM ^
Been saying that for awhile...which they would add him to the set now and make the transition a little easier for everyone.
But Les is saying he still wants to coach.
I'd love to see him in spots this year. Then next year they share the spotlight until Corso hands the baton in the final episode next season.

I still prefer the mantra SERENITY NOW to be quite honest.

Not sure how many saw it, but real nice tribute they did for Lee Corso on College Gameday . I wonder how many times he has picked the Wolverines. What would he or has he worn picking Michigan ?
Go Blue tonight !! Lets get a win on this cold October day .

He's picked Michigan more than once, but the head gear is usually kind of lame because we don't have a goofy mascot head (thank god).
October 8th, 2016 at 12:04 PM ^
I've seen him wear a plastic blue wolverine hat before. Usually he goes with the helmet, though.
October 8th, 2016 at 12:04 PM ^
Seems like it's been going on forever, but there has to be a starting point.
October 8th, 2016 at 12:07 PM ^
Headgear started at OSU
I believe his first pick was in South Bend but it was random. Then I want to say Gameday opened up on the road the following year and he correctly picked Michigan.

Given how their defenses have been playing, expect to see a TON of points in the Red River Rivalry. I'm picking Oklahoma to win 62-48.

I'll be flipping between the Red River Shootout and the Maryland game. I haven't seen the Terps play yet, I want to know if they're for real.

is still awful against a spread-to-run. PSU tearing them apart on the read-option ground game. 230 yards of rushing in the first half already! Trace McSorley with 5.2 ypc on 14 carries! Wtf, Durkin.

The second best trophy in football - Floyd of Rosedale - is on the line today.
Minnesota's got cool stuff to play for - the Jug, Floyd and Paul Bunyan's Ax. Unfortunately they rarely win any of them.
October 8th, 2016 at 12:10 PM ^
Nice call.
They've got the best rivalry trophies in all of college football when you combine them all. Very cool.

There are - and a lot of the most historic ones, too.
Of course there are a few clunkers like Land Grant Trophy:
MSU plays for a lot of junky trophies.
October 8th, 2016 at 12:48 PM ^
That trophy should go to the loser instead but then they'd have to make two of them.

TV#1: NC State/ND and Maryland/PSU
TV#2: Texas/Oklahoma and Iowa/Minnesota
B1G gets a backseat and the prev channel button in my household for the noon games.

Field conditions in this ND-NC State game are a bit iffy.

Watching this Maryland/Penn St game makes me realize how good of a team Michigan is. Penn St D is having it's way so far and Michigan trounced them.
October 8th, 2016 at 12:21 PM ^
the penn st dline has sacked marylands qb twice already and we had our way with them. Definitely encouraging

NC State In the rain. Their first play a trick play (failed flea flicker)
Wet balls a problem today NTTAWWT
ND in for more trouble today - and I'm glad

It's not quite the Snow Bowl. But it reminds me of the Northwestern game where Justin Fargas took over.
