Non-Freshmen Weight Changes by Position: OFFENSE & Special teams (this time)
Sorry I forgot to insert the kickers and long snappers in the last one.
The Offensive players gained 274 lbs broken down by position group thusly:
- OL +155lbs (16 up, 3 down)
- RB +55lbs (8 up, 0 down)
- TE +33lbs (6 up, 1 same)
- WR +27lbs (8 up, 4 same, 2 down)
- QB +4lbs. (2 up, 2 same, 1 down)
The Special teamers shook out like this (probably)
- Hollenbeck added 13lbs to his left leg.
- Doman added 7lbs to his right leg.
- Turner lost 9lbs but probably actually lost 15lbs and added 6 to his right leg.
- Longsnappers lost weight to become heat-seeking tackling missiles
FWIW I'm so thankful nobody posts my weight gain (or hypothetically loss) annually.

If all of my weight gain is good, I should be a 1st round draft pick by now.
I should be two first round picks.

I'm not convinced that bigger = faster, and that reminds me of all the post-season games where we look a half-step slower than our opponents, especially on defense.

I share your view and memories.
My condolences on the shared memories.

Missing Hibner in the TE list.

You are correct. Sorry about that. I'll edit the post with the correct snippet.

Any word on weight change for Cabana?
August 3rd, 2023 at 10:51 AM ^
His Hudl listed him as 185. He's at 198 now.
Cabana could be an interesting element in this years offense. Obviously not an every down kind of back, I don’t believe. But fast as lightning and potential game breaker.

If Roman Wilson was 185 lbs last year, I run a 4.3.

Hmmm, several OL over 320 now. Seems like that is getting a bit big? I don't know much, so maybe it's ok. But my sense is that 300-310 or so seems ideal. We need these guys to be agile and flexible to pull right? I'm sure it's part of the program, but just seems big.
Maybe good ol' two-a-days in camp will get them back down a bit.

Agreed, bet those OL weights come down a bit after fall camp. I was a slim guy and still always lost a good 10 lbs or more during two a days.
Besides, with so much competittion in that OL room, there's not gonna be much playing time for anyone carrying too much bad weight.

Hinton at 340!? Must have been the intro to Maize and Blue deli.

Glad to see Stokes get over 200. He seemed to go down a bit easy last year. Also, Wilson up 7 bodes well for increased durability and use this year.

Damn the OL is HUGE!
Myles Hinton--Man Mountain.
And during “Michigan made” appeared to carry it very well.

I'm glad to see JJ finally break the 200 pound barrier. Ideal weight for him is probably somewhere above 210 but I'll take 202. The added weight will help him absorb hits. He probably won't get above 210 at Michigan unless he stays for a 4th year.

Anybody would have a hard time putting on weight when you are an Orji in the endzone.
Burns a lot of calories.
I’m down 10.5 pounds since February.
I'm down 21 lbs in 2023. It's good weight loss. Unfortunately, some of it was due to an illness and the appetite loss from antibiotics. Better now, and I'm still losing a bit.
