22 mph isn't that fast. It's not slow, but it's not anything eye popping. In pads it's more impressive, if that was the case.

If memory serves me all good like, the average human has a top speed of 19 mph. Quick google search says 15 - 17 mph, but I don't believe it. A 12 second 100m dash translates to an average speed of 18.64 mph. That's not a fast 100m dash, and the top speed for a 12 second 100m dash is probably around 20.5mph. 11.5 seconds we're now at an average speed of 19.45 mph. Denard's fastest 100m dash was 10.28s, which would average out to 21.8 mph for the race. I think his fastest 60m dash was 6.81s. Let's assume we can combine those two races. Let's assume the last 40m was ran in 3.47 seconds and it estimates Denard's top speed. That translates to a top speed of 25.8 mph. For reference, Usain has been clocked at 27.8 mph (average world record 100m dash speed was 23.35mph).

Who will be drafted?

Based…

Who will be drafted?

Based on the NFL-combined invited players:

Drafted (in no particular order):
McCarthy
Corum
Johnson
Wilson
Colson
Sainristill
Harrell
Barrett
Zinter
Keegan
Jenkins

I Think They're Going (again, no particular order):
Barner
Nugent
Wallace

It's a Maybe (still, no particular order):
McGregor
Jones
Henderson
Barnhart

I think we'll get there.

There are players not invited to the combine that are eligible for the draft (e.g., Q. Johnson).

Man, they had a lot of calls…

Man, they had a lot of calls at late hours per their cell phone logs.

He may have truly thought they had something going on, and maybe she just felt it was 100% professional, which led to the disconnect. But there were a lot of calls to make me think he wasn't just shooting his shot randomly.

Major part.

Hassan had 5…

Major part.

Hassan had 5 tuddies.

Cade had 0, and a pick.

How many passes did we throw in the 2nd half?

We won that game in spite of Cade, not because of Cade. We could've put Edwards in at QB and had the same outcome.

The rest of your comment, Mrs. Macnamara, I will not address. But Cade wasn't some phenom quarterback at Michigan. He was the most ready to play on the roster at the time he was here.

If Roman Wilson was 185 lbs last year, I run a 4.3.

Did you move to Vegas or something? Where are all the basements?

Also here for the popcorn.

I've seen stats for this…

I've seen stats for this incredibly rare claim to range from 2% to 10%. 10% doesn't feel incredibly rare. 5% I wouldn't categorize as incredibly rare. 2 to 4%, I would call rare, but even then I'd probably reserve incredibly rare for when we hit a fraction of a percent.

Trying to dismiss a sports related post from a sports blog based on dismissing the topic at hand with subjective phraseology like "incredibly rare" feels shitty. If you want to dismiss idiots complaining about false rape accusations, please do so, I think that argument has merits, even when the subject of this article is a false rape accusation. But a blanket statement dismissing this topic citing it's incredibly rarity doesn't seem like it has much merit, given the subject matter of this post.

This answer should be…

This answer should be everyone's #1. He was an integral part of this defense, and made game changing plays in a few games, especially OSU. (11 points in the post-game round-ups, 11th on the team [with the O-line counting as one unit]. For reference, Cornelius Johnson and Will Johnson were right below with 9 points each). I'd allow Graham as an unsung hero as well.

McGregor wasn't a large contributor this season. (1 point in the post-game round-ups, earned in one game)

Barrett was solid and had a few good games/plays. (5 points in the post-game round-ups, earned in one game)

Paige was a great addition, but wasn't a game changer. (1 point in the post-game round-ups, earned in one game).

If post-game round-ups were the sole criteria for this, it looks like Mason Graham is slotted 2 ahead of Sainristil with 13 points in 5 games, but I think Sainristil was a more consistently integral part of this team.

Okie is an honorable mention as well. As he showed up this year, I don't know if he'll be an unsung hero next year, or an expected contributor.

Families of the 611 mass…

Families of the 611 mass shootings. Those are the only people allowed to have an opinion on gun related matters? Do all 611 families count, or just families of half of those mass shootings where there was at least 1 death?

He was not carrying an unlicensed weapon. He was transporting a firearm illegally. Without a CPL, it's supposed to be unloaded, and either in the trunk or locked in a case. Ammunition should be in a separate location, glovebox if it's loose ammunition. If you have a CPL, it can be transported like that, or it can be concealed and on your person, and does not need to be unloaded.

He did not yet have a CPL, although he applied for one and has his paperwork.

He has his CPL now.

To summarize, he was transporting a firearm illegally on the interim period before he received his CPL. If he did the same thing today, his only crime would be speeding.

I don't expect a win. I put…

I don't expect a win. I put the odds at 36% Michigan, 64% OSU.

I originally put that at 40% Michigan, but gradually moved it down until I landed at 36.

Marvin Harrison is ridiculous. And what's worse... he's likeable. I don't know if I can name another likeable OSU player.

If we have 2 DBs on him, that could leave some room open in the running game, or for their other receivers, who are great (not ridiculous, but really damn good). Maybe we could sit in cover 1, and whoever is close to Harrison defaults to double coverage. If our DL plays out of their minds, I put that 36% at 50%.

I'm hoping we win. But we're going to need something to happen in terms of special teams, in terms of OSU making mistakes, or in terms of us having every player operating at 100% on every play.

My prediction is U of M 37, OSU 34, but that's from the heart and not the brain. Brain says OSU 41, U of M 31.

Could be a few things. Good…

Could be a few things. Good day running that 4.37 for Wilson. Top end speed vs. burst. Denard and Jabrill have PRs listed, while Wilson's 10.68 was from the state meet. From my original quick google search I didn't see a PR.

100m times translate to the…

100m times translate to the football field. Cole allegedly has a 10.69 100m dash. Original thought was, no way, but his state meet time time was 10.97 (sophomore year, 4th place, June 2021), so 10.69 is much more believable. He is fast.

For reference, Jabrill had a 10.52 PR, Denard had a 10.56 PR, Roman WIlson won states with a 10.68. Anything sub 11 is fast.

In Malik's defense, there is…

In Malik's defense, there is a difference between walking around naked when you're a pervert or when you're out of your mind, due to a chemical imbalance or hardcore drugs. I feel like this is probably due to the latter.

If it's a chemical imbalance I hope he gets the help he needs. If it's hardcore drugs, I hope next time he uses a veteran drug user or sober spotter to make sure he doesn't walk around naked in public.

Stats for 2018 and 2019…

Stats for 2018 and 2019 running backs (last full seasons) that finished top 10 in heisman voting:

2018
7th: 204 carries, 1658 yards, 8.1 avg., 24 TDs
9th: 307 carries, 2194 yards, 7.1 avg., 16 TDs
10th: 214 carries, 1909 yards, 8.9 avg., 22 TDs

2019
4th: a DE with 32 tackles, 14 assists, 16.5 sacks, 7 forced fumbles, 0 fumble recoveries
5th: 320 carries, 2003 yards, 6.3 avg., 21 TDs (252 receiving yards, 5 TDs)
6th: 301 carries, 2003 yards, 6.7 avg., 21 TDs
8th: 328 carries, 2094 yards, 6.4 avg., 21 TDs
9th: 207 carries, 1614 yards, 7.8 avg., 19 TDs (432 yards receiving with 4 TDs, too)

Hutch
33 tackles, 25 assists, 14 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery (should be 3 and 2, with a TD).

His stats are on par with the 2019 DE (I didn't know Chase had 7 forced fumbles, that's crazy), but one stat that isn't reported is QB hurries, which having watched both of these players I think Aidan could've been slightly higher. Worthy of a heisman? I don't know. If he finished 2nd I wouldn't bat an eye. If he finished 1st I'd be slightly surprised and feel bad for Suh.

Walker
264 carries, 1646 yards, 6.2 avg., 18 TDs (89 receiving yards, 1 TD).

His average yards per carry is worse than everyone here. He isn't a productive receiver. I don't really think he was snubbed with an invite to NYC. Was he the best RB in the NCAA this year? He's up there, you could make the argument for #1. He had 4 great games against Michigan, Rutgers, Miami, and Northwestern. Otherwise his stats are ok.

I didn't really think there…

I didn't really think there was much room for debate with what I listed, but which one(s) would you like to refute? We can each bring some points to the table and have a civilized discussion.  "Yikes, you must be misinformed." doesn't do anything to further a conversation.

Biggest accomplishments is…

Biggest accomplishments are in the eye of the beholder. Few off the top of my head listed below:

  • Actual criminal justice reform (first step act).
  • HBC funding increases by 4X or so.
  • Economy being at record highs with unemployment at record lows.
    • Black and hispanic unemployment at all time lows pre COVID.
    • Unemployment overall at like a 50 year low.
  • With COVID, shutting down international travel very early on in the process.
    • Those moves were labeled "continued xenophobia and racism."
  • Lowering drug prices with more generic options available.
  • Epstein and Maxwell arrested. Here's hoping Maxwell doesn't "kill herself."
    • I cite this because it has been known for decades but nothing was ever done about it. When Epstein was arrested in the 2000s Trump was one of the only people to come forward to the prosecutor and offer all information he could.
  • Helping bring peace to the Koreas, with both leaders citing him being a major factor in their improving relationship.
  • When's the last time you heard of an ISIS terrorist attack?
  • Iran deal no more.
  • Embassay moved to Jerusalem.
Honest question.  Do you…

Honest question.  Do you think Putin is involved with Trump's presidency? And if so, why do you think this?

Jeter is an athletic beast,…

Jeter is an athletic beast, and I think this is the year it'll click with him. He just needs to put it all together.

A 2016 type defense?

There…

A 2016 type defense?

  • There were 8 draft picks from that  defense that year, and 5 of those being top 100 defensive picks.
  • I'm pretty sure there were 11 or 12 members on that team that made an all big team or honorable mention.
  • Hurst was a stud taken the following year, who's draft positioning did not mirror his collegiate impact.

I'm not sure we have the CBs or the DTs to replicate that 2016 defense.  DTs:

  • 2020: Kemp/Jeter/Smith/Hinton
    • Two upper classmen, two true sophomores.
  • 2016: Wormley/Hurst/Mone/Glasgow/Godin
    • Five upper classmen.

CBs

  • 2020: Thomas/Gray/Green/Perry/Turner/Johnson/Seldon/Green-Warren
    • One senior, two redshirt sophomores, the rest are green.
      • Only Thomas has shown he is above average.
  • 2016: Lewis/Clark/Stribling/Watson/Washington/Hill/Long
    • Three above average seniors.
      • Seniors were great, Watson wasn't a bad fourth, Washington has been good for WVU, and both freshmen had loads of potential.

I would hope it's the 2016 defense, but I doubt it.

LSU has elite talent.  2015 …

LSU has elite talent.  2015 - 2019 saw the 5th, 2nd, 7th, 15th, and 5th recruiting classes.

Orgeron took over in 2016 with a 6-2 record.

2017 was 9-4, of those 4 losses two were blowouts, and the other 2 were 1 score games. Of the wins, 2 were close being 1 score games.  I would consider that season 7 handed wins, 4 close games, and 2 losses.

2018 was 10-3,of those 3 losses 1 was a blowout, the other 2 were close.  Of the wins there were 2 close games.  I would consider that season 8 wins, 4 close games, 1 loss.

2019 is currently 12-0.  There were technically 3 1-score games, but Texas closed the gap with 2 minutes left, Auburn and Bama did the same with 1 minute left.  2019 has Joe Burrow completing 80% of his passes on the season.

LSU has had a great season, but I'll wait to pass judgment on if Orgeron is Saban-tier after Burrow leaves. 2017 had 6 losses or close games, and 2018 had 5 losses or close games. That's not Saban-tier. So, did LSU do it with Orgeron?  Or is that elite talent and Joe Burrow more deserving of this season's credit?

Can't agree with you enough…

Can't agree with you enough on the abusing DTs.  If Kemp and Dwummy get fatigued early, we're in trouble.

Without diving into the…

Without diving into the numbers, I imagine our defense is getting our offense the ball more often than PSU was.  I would love to see the PSU breakdown on a per play basis, with an emphasis on explosive plays.  After the bomb to Collins last week, there were 4 plays over 10 yards. 3 runs and a pass.

If I remember Kwity Paye ran…

If I remember correctly, Kwity Paye ran a 11.0 100m dash in high school, which is crazy for his size.

If you want a comparison to Paye, David Ojabo ran a 10.9 100m dash in high school. Based on that athleticism alone, Ojabo will be the next huge DE at Michigan.

Yes.
Bredeson, Hudson, L…

Yes.

Bredeson, Hudson, L Hill, Ruiz.

A. Thomas, K. Paye, DPJ, D. McCaffrey, and Hutchinson all have potential.

Arkansas Arkansas had a lot of foot injuries. Arkansas Reddit fans credit it to the strength coach. Something to keep an eye on, I suppose.
I'm Undecided We have 2 non freshmen scholarship QBs, with sophomore and freshmen eligibility. I don't want locker room chemistry tainted, I don't want QB have their confidence shook by this, and I don't want to hurt recruiting efforts. ....But we we will have 2 non freshmen QBs, with sophomore and freshmen eligibility. I trust Harbaugh and will look at the positives either way. .... but we will have 2 non-freshmen QBs on scholarship.
I get what you're saying

And I believe both trenches need time to develop into men, but Hall is finishing his second semester, so the fact he isn't AT MINIMUM big ten 2nd team is disappointing.  Let's bring back Funk, we'll get this OL humming.

4 sacks here 2 for O'Korn, 2 for Speight. O'Korn was in the game longer. Speight gets sacked less?
Crawford

I imagine Crawford saw the play was blowing up and thought Speight was tucking the ball and running.  Crawford may have been trying to block the DB to give Speight a running lane.

M wins

37 - 20

Glasgow I think Glasgow is an extremely valuable backup as he may be the first guy in for 3 positions. If a safety goes down I'm not sure if Woods or Glasgow is going in. I'd assume the latter, but coaches have been high on Woods. At Viper I'm pretty sure Glasgow would be first in.
Least Expendable

This should be fun!

1. Cole - I don't think much explanation is needed.
2. Hurst - Not only is Hurst a stud, but we only have Dwumfor behind him.  Gary could move over, but then Kemp is the SDE with limited options behind.
3. Mone - NT is an integral part of this defense.  Have to be strong up the middle.  Behind Mone is true freshman Solomon, or position changers.
4. Gary - I really like Gary's backup, Kemp, so I feel the dropoff wouldn't be catastrophicly different.  Because of his talent, I feel #4 is an insulting spot for him, but depth at spots #1-3 are driving this.
5. McCray - Our LB depth is not phenomenal, McCray is a proven player.
6. Kinnel - He's played.  We don't have a ton fo safeties.  Backups are limited.
7. Winovich - WDE looks like a true freshmen will serve as backup, or maybe a name will emerge I haven't heard much of yet.
8. Speight - He's probably our starter even though everyone loves to talk about Peters.  From what I saw in the spring game, I do believe Peters could come in and the dropoff wouldn't be catastrophic, he may even develop into the better option as the season progresses.
9 . Bredeson - I don't have starts in front of me, but he could be #2 for most starts on the line.
10. Hudson - Shown some things, backups at viper are limited.
11. Bush Jr. - He is an excellent linebacker who is probably 2nd most experienced at this point.
12. Metellus - See Kinnel.
13. Onwenu - We're going to need this svelt mountain to step up at guard.
14. Long - It seems like he's penciled in as CB #1.  Someone please correct me if this isn't the case.
15. Evans - I'm hesitant to put him here, as the chatter of Higdon as the #1 back has emerged, but from what I saw last season, Evans will have the most carries, and will do the most with them.
16. Crawford - Experience and blocking should keep him as #1 WR for now.
17. Bunting - Jake Butt Lite
18. Kugler - I think he'll step up.
19. L. Hill -
Penciled in as CB #2, but Washington looks like a very capable option.
20. T. Black - I think he'll be WR #2 this year.  Could be DPJ.  Could be another.  Who knows?
21. Nordin
22. Solomon - top NT backup.  He's going to rotate in heavily.
23. JBB - I put a backup in front of him, because who knows if he's going to be the starter?  Runyan could step in.
24.  Washington 3rd corner in for nickle packages.
25. K. Hill - hammering panda has a capable backup in Poggi, otherwise would be higher on the list.
26. DPJ, 27. TJ Wheatley, 28. Dwumfor, 29. Kemp, 30. Peters

Not solely the field goal

It was his comments after the game that stuck with me.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3VORvsT78c8

Starts by talking about how their defensive depth is thin.

Around 50 seconds in or so, starts talking about Michigan's positives.

At 1:52 he makes his ranked team comments.  My only quesiton is, what good does that do?

Penn State

"The Rose Bowl run didn’t surprise other coaches because James Franklin has been projecting that attitude and expectation since he got there. He’s got swagger, and he doesn’t care how that projects across the league. The energy he brings has been there, but they’ve had serious depth issues and had to make some crucial changes on offense."

Penn State kicked a field goal when down by 28 at the big house.  After the game, Franklin said something to the effect of, "That's what happens when you play a top 5 team.  Top 5 teams are a separate tier from everyone else."

Projecting that kind of attitude and expectations will only get you to #6.

top 10 recruits I would be interested in seeing top 8, 5, and 3. To see if the very top stays in state or maybe goes elsewhere.
Pick | Reason

Jamarco Jones | We need help on the OL, take away from OSU.

Price | We need help on the OL, take away from OSU.

Denzel Ward | Proven DB, take away from OSU.

Stephen Richardson or Jaleel Johnson | It'd be nice to be able to cycle in some upper-classmen interior DL.

Barkley | He's a beast, high character kid, and really fun to watch.

2007, I remember watching the

2007, I remember watching the Stanford USC game, where there was a 48ish point spread, and Stanford was walking into the colluseum with a backup QB.

That backup hit Sherman on a critical 4th down on their way to winning the game.

I'm not saying Drake Harris is going to be Richard Sherman, that would be a stretch.  But height/weights are similar, 6'4", 188lbs vs. 6'3" 194 lbs, and I trust Harbaugh.

WR to CB Sherman.
Necessary Depth

Right now, there are 22 bodies (excluding Newsome) that are juniors or seniors.  That's not tremendous upperclassman depth.

Barring EXTREME attrition, we'll have the necessary depth for competition.  This year we have 7 non-freshmen non-Newsome OL.  That's 1.4 bodies per position.  That's not good depth for competition.  This year we have 7 non-freshmen DL.  That's not great depth for competition.

Barring EXTREME attrition.  There will be depth for competition all around.  I'm excited for it.

For a Very Complex Defense

Losing starters is a big deal, but I'd make a different argument for fun.

Years in the system is a big deal.
The 4 starting DL, all 3 starting LBs (depending if a freshman usurps somebody), and all 4 starting DBs have been in the system for two years.  We're losing 10/11 starters from defense last year.  However, all 11 of those starters were in Don Brown's system for one year

Youth is a big deal.
Offense
3 seniors
2 juniors
5 TRUE sophomores (+ redshirt sophomore Runyan)
1 freshman (DPJ or Black)
Defense
2 seniors
3 juniors
5 TRUE sophomores
1 freshman

I'm always excited for football, but I'm very excited for 2019.

Draft Picks

I understand we're losing 8 draft picks, 3 UDFAs from last year's defense.  I understand that.

In 2015 Boston College was a top 5 defense with Don Brown running the show.

2016 NFL draft saw 2 boston college players go, in round 3 (DB) and round 7 (LB).
2017 NFL draft saw 2 boston college players go, in round 3 (DB) and round 5 (LB).

That top 5 defense wasn't built on dominant NFL players.  It was built on scheme.

I don't think the sky is falling.  Place I was most worried about was interior DL this year, but Solomon, Hudson, and all the other recruits we have, should provide some much needed depth this year, to compliment/spell our starters.

If we fall outside of the top 10, I don't think we'll dip past the top 15.

Not the best at interviewing

He should not be conducting interviews.

combine vs. pro day 40s Chesson 4.47 vs. 4.46 Strib 4.60 vs. 4.57 These don't feel hyper exaggerated.
Question

Everyone seems to complain about hand timed pro day 40s.  If they don't laser time pro day 40s, why don't they film the 40s with a running stopwatch, and a camera catching an insanely high FPS, and then slow it down and calculate it?

Different Genes

I started lifting more seriously in college.  By junior year I could hit 18 reps at 225, 6', 185 lbs.

A political circle jerk was going on below.

My apologies.

However, what this should bring to everyone's attention, is how did this comment get the top spot after it was a reply to a comment below?  Seems like an issue with the mobile app, which I have uncovered with this act of this reply, and not the content.

This was supposed to be a reply, not a bold comment.

I responded from mobile to combat somebody way down the list, that said they wanted people to upvote or downvote their comment (regarding racist/sexist/homophobic Trump voters) to know how many people read their comment.

Dangit.
