I'm kinda surprised that Sparty hasn't brought in Pat (dickhead) Narduzzi.  The angry-man-d'antonio-wannabe.

If I recall correctly, he was pushing his players to try to hurt Dennard and was happy when Gholston tried to rip his head off.  Isn't this just the kind of coach they want there in EL?

I wonder if Narduzzi is a guy who missed the boat on jumping up when he had the chance. His stock was at an all-time high after the 2021 season and winning the ACC with Pickett. Then they tapered off a little last year but I think they still won nine games. Now they're just bad again.

Narduzzi is probably a fit culturally at MSU, but he's on a downward trend and with how much tougher the conference is about to get next year, I doubt MSU is willing to take a chance on that.

I can easily see this comment in the context of a specific B1G school located in East Lansing.

However, there may be something brewing a bit further south - in College Station, Texas.  And, what appears to be a simmer - may soon become a boil - that is - handling a little buyout for Jimbo Fisher.  It would seem to me that those boosters who contributed quite significantly to the NIL process a year or so ago - would reach even further into their pockets for a coach that could get them to double digit wins and CFP appearances.

What will Urban say when they open up the negotiation with - "We have have the facilities - we're in a recruiting hotbed - we need you as our coach.  How does $12M / year sound to you?"

I honestly figured if they could get him, they'd announce this week. Trying to scare Michigan by announcing they hired Meyer, even though he won't even coach until next year, would also be very on-brand. I told a Sparty friend that if they haven't announced him this week before halftime of the Michigan game, he's not coming lol.

"They're keeping it secret!"

"But if they announce now, he can start recruiting."

"Yeah but now he can SECRETLY!"

The delusion and cope truly are next-level.

I'd hope they're not short sighted enough to take those calls.  Sherrone Moore or Jesse Minter should have much better offers than resurecting Sparty right before the conference gets stupidly tough

Although I'd love to hear Mike Hart's reply if they were ever ballsy enough to ask him lol

This was a topic on tRCMB in the last week re: Coach Moore.... and although that group doesn't represent most MSU fans, the conclusion was "no way Jose"

Apparently that group would not accept any help related to UM football, even if they were on a sinking ship (metaphorically speaking) or in a dangerous place --- like a tunnel.

There was no part of me that believed Meyer would want to even attempt a resurrection of MSU football, and really, they are at a point culturally and legally where this would have been the worst possible hire anyway. In any case, it was amusing to see a few fans here and there cling to this like flies to flypaper, only because it shows that they don't want to learn the most important lessons from the Tucker fallout.

“Hmm. So our coach was fired due to an off-the-field controversy. What are our options?”

”Bring back our last coach who quit to escape an investigation into his handling of off-the-field controversies??”

“Wait. Would he come back?”

”No.”

”What are our other options?”

”Well, there is ONE guy who has quit multiple jobs to escape multiple off-the-field controversies…”

”Brilliant. Any sexual harassment allegations?”

”Does cheating on your wife count?”

”No.”

”Then no.”

"Yeah but what if he wants the hardest coaching job of his life?  He could really prove himself the GOAT if he takes Michigan State to the Natty while fending off peak Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State and the incoming West Coast schools while being the 20th best paid coach in football!"

B.S.

This is either “I’d rather die than coach Sparty” or it’s “you better add a zero to the end of that offer.”

If there’s one thing that Urbz LOVES, it’s being top dog in a consequence free environment where a lot of young men live in fear of him and a lot of young not-his-wifes cozy up to him.

I bet one fake internet dollar that when the USC job opens up, Meyer goes after it.

Your perspective on USC is prescient.   Riley was offered a LOT to go there, and - if this turns into a four loss season, with a returning Heisman winning QB - those Trojan boosters will reach out to Urban - and so will the Aggies.

USC is a VERY nice position for him - he'll soak up the Southern California sun and recruiting.  I'm quite sure you'll have more than one taker for a fake internet dollar.

So over at RCMB the most active thread is "Hire Urban Meyer now!" and few posts down there's an identical thread to this one.

The comments in that one though are gold.  You see he only said that to increase his offer from MSU because, as 22Duece22 said "MSU is his dream job so announcing this forces MSU to pony up even more money".  Basically the posters in that thread have convinced themselves he only said that as a negotiating tactic.

They are gonna absolutely lose it when they hire whoever the OC is at Kansas or Washington State or the third best MAC HC instead..  They truly and honestly believe he is going there to coach.

I had stayed away from RCMB for many years but ventured over there when the situation with tuggin' Tuck came out.

They are a delusional bunch.

They seem to think that MSU is a top-ten blue chip college football program.

Referring to Michigan as "scUM" seems to evoke a Beavis and Butthead-type reaction over there.

I had multiple Spartys tell me that their 2021 season was more of a success than Michigan's...since they won the rivalry game and their bowl game.

Also had multiple Spartys make the argument that Tucker was a better coach than Harbaugh because he got a raise...and Harbaugh got a pay cut.

The collective amnesia is impressive.  They've all clearly forgotten that football was played before 2009 and after 2015...and that the last few years of Dantini's tenure were a hot mess.

Actually, their true glory era was from 2010 (tied for B1G title with UW and Ohio) to 2015. Other than 2012 7-6 clunker, they had some excellent seasons while UM was way down, PSU going thru the post Sandusky loss of scholarships, etc. But Ohio was very strong 2013-2015 and Dicktonio, being a royal penis that he still is, did beat Urban twice when it mattered.

That being said, Dicktonio left a rotting outhouse while collecting a bonus in February 2020. Also the Blackwell scandal.

RCMB is packed with people who once aspired to graduate from UM but got that dreaded "we regret to inform you...." from UM Admissions Office. Bitter clowns indeed.
