With the NIL in place, how much $ do you think comes in?

I really like this set up, although the take percentage seems a bit high for the company setting this up, but I'm really happy for the players. I saw yesterday it was trying for $50k a month, so how much do you think is possible? I'm guessing the $50k will be easily met.

There should be an open competition at football practice every week. Those who make the first team that week earn $4200, Everyone else gets $2700.

Less than many would expect. They'll likely hit the $50K in time but whenever a UM fan talks about "The Money Cannon" they're referring to other people's money. The expect some wealthy donor to drop bags, not have themselves and a bunch of regular people giving $5 a month.

I'm just as guilty. I chipped in but will admit that as I did it I thought "why isn't some mega-donor crushing this already". Maybe they want to but have been asked not to? Maybe this is the easiest common ground for the school and players to agree upon regarding direct NIL? "Make it the same as GoFundMe and we're cool" kinda thing? I'd guess so.

This is so true. I wish we had 10,000 donors of $5 a month on day one with a goal of 100,000 donors. That annual cost is less than the cheapest single game ticket I believe.

There are about 100,000 fans that attend games each week and the cost of a couple of waters at the game is more than the minimum to get into Ann Arbor NIL. I used to donate modestly to the Athletic Department, now I try to look for ways to give to players. And I don't want any more stuff - cards, jerseys, etc - I want the money to go to the players. I just wish the NIL tax that this group takes was a smaller percentage.

I’m sorry but this whole thing is just weird. Monthly payments? Lol. I’m all for students getting paid but I figured it would come from, I don’t know, the BILLION dollar tv deal!

I worry about those who incomes may fluctuate a bit month to month and they don't want to set a dollar amount for every month per year. I wonder if there will be an option to contribute a specific amount per month or if you do not have the funds, then skip a month, or if you have extra cash you may chip in a couple hundred dollars for one month.

The money is shared equally among all players that participate in this NIL club.  That includes walk-ons, who aren't getting a scholarship.  I believe there are over 110 players on the team (maybe more with the COVID measures in place) and only 85 on scholarships.  So that's 25 or 30 kids who are contributing to the team who can now get some pin money for their efforts.

If you read some of the background on the club's creation, what is most on players' minds regarding this money is helping to enable family and friends to come watch them play.

Considering the size and mania of our fanbase, I'm a little surprised at the low goal.  I think they should get to $250k per month or more.
