#14 needs to do jail time, possibly #4 as well, and the others involved in the McBurrows assault need to be suspended for the year if not expelled.  Not holding my breath on that.  It's hard to tell from the video we've seen but it's plausible some of those guys may have turned around and the first thing they saw was McBurrows pushing/punching whatever to defend Green and not realized he was not the instigator.  Doesn't justify their behavior, but may explain it.

Kudos to the minority of sparties who did the right thing (#3 and #41) and tried to break it up.  Shitty situation all around.

What happened is disgusting and those MSU players who swung helmets, threw punches and kicked should be held accountable and punished accordingly. Additionally if any evidence shows Michigan players instigated or were physically violent they too should be held accountable and punished.

I understand Harbaugh’s anger and concern, but I do wish that he would handle this a little differently. He’s overstating the video and calling out Mel Tuckers lack of personal apology. While I agree that Tucker should reach out, he is showing that he’s working with the university to handle this properly. They’ve already suspended those who are clearly shown committing those acts. Give them time. I mean look at how Saban didn’t punish a player who struck a fan.

I’d rather see Michigan and MSU collaborate on this fiasco and settle it professionally then keep calling each other out for it. I read someone say that this is turning into “how people argue about politics these days” and Michigan is better than that. And I think this rivalry should be better than that. MSU has almost all of the blame to shoulder for that right now, but Michigan needs to show poise/take the high ground and work to prevent something like this from happening again.

In regards to the criminal charges, I’m surprised but not against it. If serious harm was caused with a weapon that is more than enough grounds for assault. Just wish it never came to something like this.

And for the tunnel, I don’t think it’s the problem but they need a protocol to prevent more confrontations. I don’t think it’s a problem and it shouldn’t be, but a few bad things can ruin a generally good thing, and I think that’s the case here. It’s annoying but simply separating the teams completely can prevent this, albeit 1/1000, type of event from happening again.

Finally, although you’d like to see support staff play mediator, I don’t think we can blame them. These are grown strong men in pads using helmets as weapons. If you have a family, do you really think it’s worth the risk of yourself getting hit in the head? I’m honestly not sure. And seeing that situation and judging what they should do versus actually being there are totally different. I work in a profession that deals with life and death, and until you’re conditioned and trained to deal with that type of situation, most tend to panic. I have more criticism for law enforcement that may have been there and did not act, because that’s why they’re there.

For the record - they haven't suspended #4, Windmon. That guy also blatantly lied in the press conference about his involvement.

I can see why Harbaugh is mad and wants immediate action, but do agree with you that this isn't the time for hyperbole. My guess is that he feels this is worthy of additional headlines to ensure the Big Ten actually does something about it and doesn't sweep it under the rug.

Windmon didn't have his helmet on at first, then he put it on so that he could participate in the attack.  Playing football for a university should be viewed as a privilege and neither of those guys should have the privilege ever again.  They should sit in a jail cell.

I give a bit of credit to #41 and #33 who finally hauled Camp away (by headlock).  Too little too late but at least they recognized that this was wrong.

Watching that video was tough.  Let's all pray/cross fingers that Green is okay.  If he does have a concussion, as his lawyer claims, then this is a potential career-threatening injury.

Suspension for a game or two is the right punishment . . . for the 10-20 players who saw what was going on and did nothing to stop it.  Bystander intervention is an important topic to me.  I believe that there are enough poorly adjusted (along any of a variety of dimensions) individuals out there that the sparks that might lead to violence are not that rare.  A decision to disengage or de-escalate, either by a participant or someone standing by, can make the difference between a crime and nothing more than an adrenaline surge. In certain circumstances, it is incumbent upon the crowd to defuse the instigator.

For the 3-5 people throwing punches, swinging helmets, and otherwise laying hands -- I would think it has to be dismissal.

A few thoughts after watching this video...

(1)  That is just so fucking eerie with The Victors playing in the background.  Surreal.  Almost like it's a movie scene.

(2)  A lot of damage can be done in a relatively short period of time (~20 seconds from first shoves to #41 taking #14 away to the MSU locker room in a headlock)

(3)  Most of the MSU guys seemed to know that was wrong.  Maybe they could've broken it up a few seconds earlier, but they seemed spooked also when the helmet came swinging.  Let's not paint them ALL with the same thug brush.

(4)  Kudos to the coaching/support staffs (most of them, anyway) for forming a wall between the UM and MSU locker rooms to contain this thing.  It could've been much MUCH worse if Michigan players had found out what happened and then ran over to the MSU side for a true donnybrook UTL.  That would've made Malice at the Palace look like tea time.

(5)  Shit be too tribal (but fuck Staee anyway).

Weird? This is the third video of the assault where the police and security is running away from the incident instead of running to the incident.  We should have better police or better security or both.

The only “positive” from these videos for the MSU point of view is that it does appear that three different Spartans did try to separate and hold guys back. Out of 75 players and another 20 or so staff members, only three did the right thing. I’m not sure how “positive” it really is.

Thank god there were people to hold German back when one of the staffers told him that his brother Germon was jumped just a couple minutes before hand. Looked like a man on fire.

Does anyone want our team going into East Lansing in 2023 where their fans make excuses for this?

The bigten needs to realign the divisions anyways. They should break up the divisions and not have UofM and MSU play for awhile.

Want to give some credit to Xavier Henderson (#3) who was pushing MSU guys back into the lockerroom.  It's a small gesture but acting like an adult was in short supply in that tunnel so good for him.

Also, you realize pretty quickly just how fucking big college athletes are and how putting a couple of people in vests for "security" wasn't going to break anything up.

#88 is a first-class shithead. I don’t think anyone in that video annoys me as much as he does, and that’s saying something.
