New Brock Mealer Video
Mike Barwis has his own website, and training, called Barwis Methods. He has a new video of Brock Mealer training. The end is pretty cool.
What an incredible and inspiring guy. Thanks for sharing Tom.
I am so going to cry if he lead the team out for the Connecticut game. I honestly dont know anyone who wouldnt, this is just pure gold. Way to go Brock!
thanks for posting this Tom.
I was having trouble getting motivated for todays workout... This changed my attitude about it. Thank you Tom and Brock!
It's going to be electric when he walks the team out of the tunnel...
Yeah, I'm pretty excited for that.
God that was awesome. I got chills when he took those steps at the end.
I hope that the University will put a short video of both Elliot's and Brock's story on the stadium screens before the UConn game. I know there is a good number of people that know the story already, but i would think there is an even larger number that do not even know about the accident and the recovery from the brothers. I just don't want Brock's amazing story to be unnoticed by people in the stadium.
If you aren't truly moved by Brock's story, I think you're dead inside.
If I had to do that much lower body work, I'd probably let the upper body go. Kid could crush my skull between his bicep and forearm.
was about as cool as you can ask for.
This just proves that combining a strong will, family values, and a fear of wolves can produce some amazing results.
Keep it up, Brock. UConn is in four months.
That is amazing.
I particlularly liked Old school "Jam on It" playing in the back ground at the 330 mark.....Amazing the progress he has made.
When he runs out there wont be a dry eye in the Big House.
He was kind of dragging his legs up underneath him. Now he's literally lifting them to take real, honest to god steps.
I know you've still got loft strands and braces, but congratulations Brock. You're really walking now.
Wow. I can't say much that hasn't been said, but it's hard for me to let news like this go by uncommented upon. I'm just so happy to see the development and attention that Barwis is able to give to Brock. I can't comprehend the effort and discipline that Brock has had to give. I try to pray for the Mealers when they come to mind- it just seems like it would be so easy to get discouraged, but I'm happy that (Brock in particular) they are at a university that has rallied around them like the Wolverines and Rich Rodriguez have done.
If you see this, Brock, be encouraged, keep fighting and know the thoughts and prayers of many continue to be behind you.
Go Blue.
There are a couple of Free Press writers that will be muttering under their breath at the TV, though.
I have to say Brock and Elliott are two exceptional men. If any of the guys ever feel like slacking on a workout, all they have to do is look at Brock. And I'll be honest, if my brother was paralyzed and my girlfriend and dad were both killed when I was 18, I don't think I'd have been out of a bottle since. Elliott deserves alot of credit as well.
Both of them are amazing individuals simply for having the strength and character to go on. I don't think they will ever be forgotten at Michigan. To me, they are truly the definition of "family values" and what it means to be, dare I say it? Yes, I dare..........."Michigan men." When Brock leads the team onto the field, it will be an amazing moment.
And quickly. You may or may not like Rich as a coach. He may or may not have success at Michigan. You may or may not like his scheme, his methods, etc. But regardless of what anyone thinks of those things, he (and Barwis) will always have my respect for what they've done for Brock and Elliott.
amen to that.
Miraculous
It's amazing how much hard work, determination, and sheer will can make a difference in a person's life. Keep it up Brock; we'll be waiting for you on Sept 4 against UConn.
My work has the video blocked and I'm still getting chills just reading the comments...
+ He can squat to nearly 90 degrees and stand back up with support from under his arms.
+ He can stand unassisted for a few seconds and take some rudimentary steps.
+ He can leg press 45 pounds on each leg
+ He can walk with the help of crutches.
Long story short... good news.
The day Brock Mealer walks out under the banner will be the greatest day I have seen in my 40 years as a Michigan fan . Pray for you and your whole family, what you have gone through, without the help of Him I would have no catogories to place those events. Your family is a testament to faith and hard work. Hero's all in my eye
Watching that video puts the whole "will RichRod go 8-4 or 7-5 ongoing debate into perspective". Quite honestly, while I'd like the team to do well Brock Mealer's progress is so much more important.
The UConn game will be the first game that I get to see, with my brother since he went into the military 5 years ago. It will be great to share this moment with him and my Dad. This is an amazing story...Sorry UConn, you're in deep, deep shit....
What an amazing story. Keep it up!
...due to work network blocking video. This is absolutely incredible. Brock, if you're reading, we're all pulling for you, man.

Wow. This will be such an incredible moment. It would be amazing if the Athletic Department (or someone else) made Maize Out T-Shirts dedicated to Brock for the UCONN game!
