I'm guessing the refs allow it because the TV overlords think it's "good TV"—i.e., gets more people excited watching on TV.
Fans of the asshole coach like to see "spirit" in their coach, and opposing fans get pissed off. I.e., both are excited.
It's the same thing for students acting weird. On TV, it reads as "spirit." In real life, it used to be weird but now we've been accustomed to seeing it so it seems normal.
I'm hoping to see what is on the screen of my TV. I took a morning flight this morning and did the road trip today to Ohio to see the total eclipse and I am falling asleep in the chair.
It would be quite fitting for Purdue to finally win a NC today because they're even more rare for them than total eclipses.
I was unsuccessful but woke up to see the last two minues.
I don't have a strong opinion but I'm fine with Purdue winning it all.

He reminds of Bobby's existence, which means I am unable to like him.
Is Hurley that bad? I certainly seem to think he's much more tolerable than an Izzo, Gard, Fran McCaff etc..

I appreciate the foul count looks like it suggests otherwise, but they're hacking the eff out of PU and that call on Jones was super weak. Clingan elbowed him in the back of the head.

I have no issues with Purdue and want them to beat UConn just for variety but they don't look like they have guys outside of Edey who can consistently perform at the level you need to win a title. Edey is already looking tired at UConn isn't even playing that well.
Edey's getting hammered like Shaq did. And uconn got to send in hacking reinforcements.
Yeah, but that's been the case all season. Most teams wouldn't commit to just playing him 1-on-1 and daring everyone else to beat them, but UConn has enough horses to do it.
Yeah, a little like Iowa last night, Purdue has played at max efficiency and UConn is still five points up. UConn has already adapted to the way P were attacking the glass.
I’ll be shocked if Edey can continue to be this effective without rest. UConn has 6-7 guys why can hurt you. Purdue has maybe 2???
You were right. He looked gassed pretty much after the first 10 minutes of the game. His shot got erratic, he was slow to react to rebounds and block opportunities, missed free throws and turnovers.
In hindsight, Painter should have tried to slow the game down and control the pace.

This game is being played at an exceptionally high level. And luckily for Uconn, with an uneven whistle.

Not a single play goes by without Hurley whining, bitching, crying, and being total asshat. Seems to have worked as these calls are all in UCONN favor. Coaches like Izzo and Hurley are embarrassing to the sport
I don't disagree, but that Purdue player did draw a foul on a flop. Hurley was right on that one. That was a flop.

purdue looks like they are fading. played well, but uconn is just that good.
boiler-up real fast to start the 2nd half, or it'll be uconn walking away from purdue.
I think the difference in the second half is going to be whether Smith continues to play inspired ball and score. If Purdue can't get points outside, Connecticut will win by eight-ten.

They mentioned this is the 5th championship game matchup between the Big East and Big Ten. That comment immediately made me think of the other four. Three of those involved Michigan with one fantastic memory, one extremely bitter memory and one tip of the cap, getting beat by a better team memory.
I don’t see how Purdue is going to get enough offense if UConn doesn’t have to double Edey.
Was there a memo sent out to the officials that they are not allowed to call fouls on Edey?
This UCONN team plays the best basketball of any college team I have seen since (sigh) 2018 Villanova.
Bad call and bad night so far for the officials imho. Purdue been shorted a few calls so far. Lol Clingan complains on obvious call.
