NCAA Final Four Reset - Who You Got Today, and Winning on Monday?

Submitted by xtramelanin on April 3rd, 2021 at 9:09 AM

Mates,

Disappointed though we were on Tuesday evening, the tourney marches on.  Today's match-ups are at 5:14 (Houston v. Baylor) and at 8:34 (Gonz v. UCLA).   Both games are on CBS.

First game:  Baylor is a 5 pt. favorite over Houston and looks like it could be very good game.

Second game:  Gonzaga is 14 pt favorite over UCLA.  I have to confess to being not convinced that Gonzaga was all that great, but after seeing what they did to a 'hot' USC team, I have feeling Gonzaga is going to beat UCLA like a rented mule. UCLA's offense of 'chuck and luck' isn't going to cut it today and I could see a big blow out.  But hey, that's why they play the games.

1.  Pick your winners today, with the points

2.  Who wins it on Monday?

I hope you are enjoying a holiday weekend today, and some sunshine and warm weather as well.

I hate to say this because I have talked so much shit about Gonzaga being overrated, but I like the Zags to win it all.

I think the other game is a toss up but I guess if I have to pick I’ll say Baylor

Yeah, UConn is very good, but it's not their year. I saw thier elite 8 game against Baylor (who beat M of course) and they are the youngest team I could reasonably imagine in major CBB

I don't anticipate this team losing another game unill Bueckers graduates or goes pro.

I don’t think either game tonight will be all that competitive. Baylor is a really bad matchup for Houston, unfortunately.  Monday should be a great game. If Gonzaga is making shots away from the basket they’ll be tough to beat.

edit: I could see this playing out like the 2016 FF. Where two teams are just kind of happy to be there and get blown out. And that sets up a great final game.

I think both games today will be blowouts. I'm surprised the spread is only 5 for the Baylor/Houston game. Baylor and Gonzaga I think are that much better than everyone else, and should make for a fun final on Monday.

Gonzaga by 20 today.  Baylor by 10.

Gonzaga by 10 on Monday.

I don’t know how but I totally forgot these games were on today.  Even without M in it I’m very excited to watch.  Then The Masters next week!

Baylor over Houston by 8, and Gonzaga over UCLA by 23.  Gonzaga will beat Baylor by 12...

Of course, I'm one of the many that thought Michigan would easily beat UCLA, so don't make any bets on my predictions...

Gonzaga 79 UCLA 58

Baylor 75 Houston 73

Gonzaga 86 Baylor 77

Been watching Gonzaga all year, they’re like last year’s Bama team in football in that they have a huge margin of error. They will blow teams out even playing ho hum.

Don't really care.

Doubt I'll be able to bring myself to watch it even though college basketball is my favorite sport.

Still stings.

I thought Gonzaga was over hyped all year. We could have beat them, but they played the way that we would have had to in order to beat them. So, hats off to them. I think they blow Baylor out and get all sorts of accolades for being an historic team. An historic team that we should have beat today with Livers.

The games today are just a formality. We’re going to get the Baylor-Gonzaga matchup on Monday night that we all should’ve gotten earlier this year.

Just hard not to go with Gonzaga. They’ve beaten everyone they’ve played in the tournament so far like a drum. I have a hard time seeing UCLA even keeping this within 10-15 points. I think they get run out of the arena tonight, and then while the Baylor game on Monday night will be close-ish, Gonzaga just has way, way too much firepower. They remind me of the Villanova team that ran Michigan off the floor in the title game three years ago. You can’t possibly account for everyone they have on the floor, and if you opt to sell out to try shutting down 1-2 of their Naismith finalists, you’re going to burned alive by their third.

I also like the idea of seeing someone other than an ACC team or a blue blood powerhouse winning it all. I think Gonzaga winning would be great for college basketball.

If in 1976 you had the name the next team to go undefeated in men's college basketball, I'm not sure Gonzaga would have been in anybody's top 500. They haven't done it yet, but look as close as any team since that 91 UNLV squad.

I agree that it would be great for college basketball.

Baylor and Gonzaga were two of my original FF choices, although I had Gonzaga beating the Crying Illini in the title game.

Gonzaga easily over UCLA and Baylor runs away from Houston in the second half. Gonzaga in a tight victory over Baylor. I dislike all four teams so I’m not watching any of it.

prior to watch Michigan/UCLA, i finally tuned to watch a Gonzaga game...up to that point I had only watched highlight...

I was really surprised at how easily they handled USC and thought that Michigan would have to play a perfect game to beat them.

Unlike Michigan, Gonzaga's roster is loaded with guys that can score the ball; not only within a system, but also in iso...I see Gonzaga winning comfortably - up to 20 points during the game and maybe down to 12 during garbage time.

Stop Juzang and you can pummel UCLA

On the other side it's going to be Baylor. Credit Arkansas for coming back, but Baylor looked every bit as dominate as Gonzaga did early in the game.... and can't forget that this Houston team was down double digits to Rutgers late in the game....Should be Baylor by 8-10

Should be an amazing final...Not a fan of either team now...I would had cheered for the Zags previously, but now find some of their players to be a bit douchy... just hoping for a good game

Houston beat Rutgers by 3 and Oregon State by 6... I think they get blown out by Baylor.

Similarly, UCLA has barely beaten a few good teams that were coin flips at the end of games. They’ve been fortunate to get this far. Gonzaga is far superior to UCLA.

I agree with you on Gonzaga tonight. That game could get ugly early for UCLA.  If I were in a betting state I’d certainly take -14 and YOLO it.

Just because Michigan shit the bed against UCLA doesn't mean you all have to stop watching March Madness. It's the Final 4. Obviously we didn't deserve getting there. Tip of the cap to UCLA for completely shutting down Michigan in the elite 8.

Zags by 18

Baylor by 11

Zags murder UCLA....ugh.  Probably something like 81-59.  Just watch.

That Houston-Baylor game though.  Man, initial thoughts are Baylor wins somewhat easily but if Houston can get by with getting half the amount of Orebs they got against OSU...Baylor could be in trouble.  Baylor's defense is fine but it isn't as good as Houston's so them running away with this I don't think happens (like my initial aforementioned thoughts on the matchup were).

UCLA beats Gonzaga tonight. Their variety of kill everyone else's good offense and barely scrape by a win seems to be something real and immeasurable. Five games in a row is no longer random (neither is 30 in a row, but that doesn't support my apathetic mood). Let's see their shitty brand of basketball (and amazing individual shooting) salt the Zags.

I hope I'm wrong.

If Gonzaga can guard TJ miller UCLA is toast. I think all the FT and wide open 3pt defense comes to an end. 22 point win for the bulldogs.

Houston cant out athlete Baylor but they can muck it up. Baylor by 3.

I wouldn’t mind seeing Gonzaga win it all, if only so I don’t have to hear about Bobby Knight’s ‘76 IU team anymore.

I’m watching Houstan on ESPN right now. He’s got a smooth stroke. If you permit me to embrace my inner Fred Jackson, he’s like Livers, but with more length.

That, plus Gonzaga is the least infuriating out of the four teams. Baylor tried to cover up a murder, Houston is coached by a total scumbag, and UCLA and its fans are just plain annoying.

The only knock on Gonzaga is that they play in a cupcake conference, but there's not much they can do about that (and they schedule tough nonconference games).

What is the deal with the paint job on the court? There are all these random splotches of yellow paint in the blue out of bounds area. Obviously I know it's by design, but it looks ugly as hell. Terrible idea.

Wow this court is hideous. Who’s genius paint job idea was this? Watching UCLA on this court will be really bad. Terrible and stupid
