Wisconsin Wolverine

Living in Madison, I've never heard the term "Wisky" used to refer to UW.  The only place I ever hear it is mgoblog.  That doesn't mean it's not a legit nickname, but I don't think it's one that badger fans use themselves.  I actually like it, because it reminds me of an alcoholic drink.  "UW" is used a lot, as well as 'Sconsin (and Wisconsonites are therefore Sconnies).  Another thing - people often talk about going to the "badger game", which I find to be a curious bit of nomenclature.  In Michigan, we never talked about going to the "wolverine game."  Actually, it seems like Michigan doesn't lean on the "wolverine" mascot so hard compared to Wisconsin, where everything is badger this and badger that.  Anyway, that's my two cents.

Glad to know that there is another kindred soul in Madtown. I would agree about "Sconnie" being the go to local slang. I have been seeing an uptick in Wiscy though in shirts worn around town and for sale on State Street.  Seems to be a recent phenom as the first time I encountered the expression was on a coworkers shirt a couple of years ago.

But they will be ripe for a let down game after winning this week. I don't see us running much on them, so I expect us to air it out.

I'll take "neither" for the win Bob.  Wisconsin has taken care of business this season.  I'll give them that.  D looks very good.  O line is surprisingly ok despite youth and coaching changes.  Pretty much the opposite of Michigan's O line over the last 10 years.  I'm jelly.

There's no "might" about it. They are the best in the West. No doubt about it. Iowa lost to NDSU and is struggling with fucking Rutgers. Minnesota and Northwestern are meh.

Nebraska may pose a challenge, but Wisconsin has far and away the best resume in the conference right now. Better than OSU, too.

MSU's lack of DL talent outside of McDowell, poor decisions by O'Conner, inexperience at WR, absence of Bullough, and

uncharactistically error prone MSU is getting blown out. Wisconsin has a good defense, but they are not exactly playing an elite offense
A lot of inexperience for MSU at key positions. Do remember that MSU struggled with Furman. ND's defense just plain sucks. If they could stop the run MSU would have been in trouble.

Hornibrook has made some nice throws, but Wisconsin's offense lacks explosiveness.

Against teams that can pass the ball effectively and which can generate a pass rush consistently Wisconsin is going to be in trouble.

I'm gonna get the saying wrong, but it's goes something like "you're never as good as you think you are or as bad as people tell you you are".
State isn't as bad as they played today and I don't see Wisconsin marching up and down the field. 14 of the Badgers second half points are thanks to a dropped snap by the punter and a fumble return. If the game was 16-6 like it very well could be then this discussion would be different.
Don't get me wrong, watching State lose is great.

Yes. Lil bro is a lil worse than last year, and it didn't take Alabama to point it out this time. Wisconsin has been sucky because they've had so much coaching turnover, but they're a pretty complete team with a good qb and defensive front seven

This.

Regardless of what happens today, MSU is going to play like a team possessed when we come to town. Mark my words: they will play their best game of the year that day. That game for them will either be a desperation "winning this keeps up in the division race" or if they tank this season, that game will be a "this salvages our season if we win" kind of game.

In this case, the question does not matter. We know that MSU will play us with the fiercest intensity against Michigan and Wisconsin looks legit. If Michigan plays less than stellar against either team then they will lose.

Have you watched MSU play us since Dantonio showed up? They almost always play their best game of the year when we show up.

He's not saying we're average. He's saying if we don't show up and match their intensity, we're going to lose. And that's a very reasonable conclusion. It's been bafflingly clear that most years, Dantonio's MSU has always wanted that game more than we did.

I made a typo in my original statement but you caught the message I was conveying.

Michigan needs to play at a top level versus both teams. MSU can have few victories and play at a much higher level versus Michigan. Wisconsin has fielded great teams for over a decade now. So in this case the op's question is irrelevant and Michigan will need to have a high energy level and great execution versus both teams to win.

We will show up big time for Sparty. The way we lost to them last year, you can see it on all our coaches and players faces when it's brought up to them in interviews. And you can take this to the bank, we are going drill Wisconsin next week! Bank on it. Their offense is perfect for our defense to excel. I have the feeling in my gut like I did going in to the penn st. Game in 97. We got this, bet the house.

Urban will be looking to repay the favor from last year, especially after the arrogant celebrations by Sparty in Columbus.  I don't like to count any chickens in CFB but MSU is shaping up to be a 3 loss team (maybe more) and cleanly out of any playoff considerations.    Yes, we will be one of their losses... just sayin.
