More ballz for Darian Green Warren- including Sam Webb

Hopefully this is a better title than yesterday’s disaster. There are now 4 crystal balls for DGW, including Sam Webb. Usually when a Michigan recruit has Steve Wiltfong and Sam Webb, that’s a pretty good sign.

Very interesting quotes from young Mr. Warren, The four-star told TMI's Sam Webb about the impact Zordich has had on his recruitment coming out of the official. “Coach Z is smooth guy,” said Green-Warren. “He doesn’t just talk to be talking. When he speaks, he means it. He played in the league 12 years, so he knows what it takes. I love his approach.” “Depth chart wise I know they have some guys, but I will be ready to compete,” he added. “That’s the reason I will enroll early where I go. I want to compete, and coach Brown made it clear he wants dogs and that the best player plays.”

Signing day starts next week so hopefully he will sign then. Wouldn't want to wait it out with a west coast guy until February

Never mind, saw where hes announcing at the all American game on January 4th

Is he considered "shut down" or just very good? I think we got very spoiled after the likes of Lewis, Long, Hill, Ambry....and even then OSU or other passing offenses (Indiana last year) found our weakest link and exploited it.

The kid Stingley from LSU and Okudah from OSU are pretty special.  I think Ambry can be elite next year (he's super quick and sticky despite being a bit undersized). Can Dax hill play man on slot receivers and running backs?  I really expected to see more of him matched up against Hamler this year.

For Don Brown to be more effective, obviously we need better DT's and to be more multiple on defense (as we saw this year), but the combo of a great D-line and great secondary (UM 2016) is really necessary for Brown to run a successful defense against both power and spread teams - or annoyingly in the case of OSU (a power-spread) team.

Giving up 60 ppg two years in a row is more than the talent gap. If it were just talent, then Nico and DPJ would be putting up Braylon stats. DPJ was the #1 5 star WR three years ago. Why is it that our 5s and high 4s somehow cannot compete with OSUs? How is it that a 3 star Olave has burned us two years in a row? Chase Young did nothing against us this year.

I’m so confused when Don Brown defenses dominate some teams, it’s only because of our better talent? And then the talent gap between us and OSU is so large that Brown cannot do anything to not allow 60 a game?

Pretty simple, OSU has had stability in the offensive coaching and scheme ever since Meyer was hired. As you can see from our pathetic offense most of this season, things don't run smooth it takes time. As far as Don Brown, any team that has quick slot wideouts will burn his defense. He doesn't learn even after the "Nightmare" in Happy Valley in '17. He figured let's try it again just to make sure it won't work.

That said, look how much NFL talent was on defense last year. For THAT level of talent to get it's doors blown off raises legitimate questions about the coaching. This year, less talent, but still enough to expect that we could have done better than to get more than half-a-hundred dropped on us.

NFL talent, but weak in the wrong areas. They werent picking on Hill or Long. OSU had gazelles all over the field. Michigan can go man for man with a couple of guys, but OSU has the horses to find a mismatch. If Michigan had a weakness, it was certainly speed in the secondary. Crossing routes are an excellent way to attack that speed advantage Michigan has. Michigan didn’t really get hit with that in any meaningful way until the week prior to OSU. Not really much time to adjust. Michigan made the adjustment this year to stop the crossing route.

Coaching only gets you so far. At some point you come up against a team who is also well coached, and just more talented. A team that will find your weak spots and hit you repeatedly there. And once you adjust, they’ll hit you in the area you just vacated.

This year’s team lacked depth at two of the most critical positions in a Don Brown defense. The transfer market and early NFL departures played a significant role in that. But that also means certain teams are going to have the ability to attack you, and there’s no amount of coaching ability that will save you.

I would give Brown the benefit of the doubt on this if we were ready to run bracket coverage last year, as we saw a lot more of this year.  We tried to switch to zone in that 2018 game and it was disorganized and the players were not prepped well for it.

Further, he was quoted as believing we had the horses to run with OSU last year and that's why he started the game with the man press approach....despite what Indiana had done to us the week prior.  Watching film and believing B Watson could run with KJ Hill or OSU's other receivers is a big coaching blunder. Brown was betting that our pass rush (with a banged up line - Rashan and Winovich) could get there in time.  He was wrong and didn't have a functional plan B in place.

Nope you're missing the most important piece and the reason OSU has owned the rivalry. Their QBs the last 15 years are the best in program history, basically back to back to back. Even the backups and people like Joe Burrow. Meanwhile the best Michigan could muster is one year of Jake Rudock.

The scheme is unorthodox and from all accounts not fundamental in the traditional sense.   ohio has the resources to gameplan for it more so than these other schools.  Dirk in actually had a decent gameplan save for that last year with a foot out the door(bastard).  I also will wonder out loud how much having two former Mich D coaches on staff helped at oSU
