Brian Jean-Mary was here before with Harbaugh. Charlie Strong protege. He's from Apopka, FL (home of Jeremy Gallon). He played for App St in the mid 90's which is a University we definitely know absolutely nothing about.

GT alum here - in the mid aughts we were rolling out an NFL LB or 2 every year.  Daryl Smith, Gerris Wilkinson, Philip Wheeler, and Gary Guyton all got drafted, and Ka'michael Hall was a very good college player.

Cant speak to a lot of that stuff, but his time at Tech was wonderful, and his last year we won the ACC.

I remember him. He took a shot a Michigan fans after he left.

Brian Jean-Mary didn’t experience a full Michigan Stadium during his lone season on the Wolverines’ coaching staff due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But the Tennessee football linebackers coach still compared the experiences at Michigan Stadium to Neyland Stadium on Monday when asked about the difference between the two at the Knoxville Quarterback Club

“I think the University of Michigan crowd — which is a good crowd, I am not going to say it is a bad crowd — it is more of a tennis crowd,” Jean-Mary said. “We have more of a gladiator stadium crowd at the University of Tennessee.”

“The University of Michigan, it is more of a bowl that sits a little lower,” Jean-Mary said. “Our stadium, it rises and it almost feels like it is on top of you, which obviously makes it a lot louder. It makes you feel like you are in a coliseum like in the movie ‘Gladiator.’”

As an alum and fan, I've shared this criticism. It has been common on this blog until 2021 when winning and a great team culture increased the interaction between fans and team.

Go back 10 years and there were several articles on this blog about whether the stadium renovations would increase crowd noise.

I don't see this as a knock at all. Brian has had the same criticism over the years.

The OSU game this past season was the loudest I ever heard at Michigan stadium. Nobody sat the entire game. I've been to quite a few games in the 80s when those 60 year olds were telling everyone down in front. Now that I'm 60, I was yelling my head off and never sat the entire game. May be it's more of a generational thing between baby boomers (or greatest generation) and gen x?
