Harbaugh should take some notes Fleck
January 1st, 2020 at 4:33 PM ^
Fleck might be the 2nd best coach in the Big Ten. Dude gets A LOT out of his talent.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
Michigan is now BELOW Minnesota ,,beat the team that beat Alabama...we lay yet another Harbaugh big game EGG...
January 1st, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
Minnesota is better than us, really not a debate. Of course the arrogant idiots will say "BuT tHey pLay In tHe wEst!!!"
January 1st, 2020 at 4:29 PM ^
Michigan would just lose to Wisconsin every other year if this was the case.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:57 PM ^
Umm we already do?
January 1st, 2020 at 9:09 PM ^
Not really, fleck lost his biggest games of the year when they needed to win to go to the big title and guess what? They lost with a team of senior wide receivers and senior running backs.
Wait till next year when all those star players are gone.
Minn will go 8-4 at best next year
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:18 AM ^
Yeah, it's a pretty surprising result beating Auburn after choking away their last two games against Iowa and Wiscy.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:26 AM ^
Just checked out their schedule for next year though and am thinking they might manage 9-3. They get MSU instead of OSU, no PSU, and finish against NW and Nebraska who will probably still be struggling next year.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
Definitely deserves respect but I’d like to see him do it a few years in a row before putting him on a pedestal.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:26 PM ^
People sure put Harbaugh on a pedestal after one year.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:29 PM ^
*before he even got here.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:25 PM ^
But the talent gap is too wide! How is this possible?
January 1st, 2020 at 5:27 PM ^
Zero pressure in Minnesota. Players at Michigan carry a lot of pressure on theirs shoulders to win for Harbaugh.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:35 PM ^
A pressure self manufactured by the university itself to the masses with the “this is Michigan”, “leaders and best”, “it’s a privilege to wear the maize and blue” and the list goes on. Other teams are like that’s cool and all but we don’t care.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:27 PM ^
Mad respect. What’s your excuse Jim?
January 1st, 2020 at 4:28 PM ^
I like Harbaugh, but I think I would trade him for Fleck.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:55 PM ^
Absolutely, if its results that matter, this is a no brainer.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:29 PM ^
So if Harbaugh lays another egg next year and Fleck has another good year in Minnesota fire Harbaugh and back up the truck to Flecks house?
January 1st, 2020 at 4:31 PM ^
Nah dude. PJ wears chinos and a pullover with a tie on the sidelines. He’s too millennial for the 50+ year bluehairs who run Michigan’s AD and roam this board
January 1st, 2020 at 5:20 PM ^
I agree with TheCube that this board does seem to be inhabited by older folks. A lot more people hanging around for years on a relatively long-in-the-tooth blog.

Pullover
January 1st, 2020 at 4:30 PM ^
Must be nice to be a fan of a team you can be proud of.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:38 PM ^
Oct 17, 2020, Michigan at Minnesota. What will the *we can't do better than Harbaugh* crowd say after Fleck beats his ass with a bunch of lower recruits.
We can do better than Harbaugh. I'd take Scott Satterfield in heartbeat. Won 8 games with a team that won 2 last year.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:06 PM ^
Uh, let’s get the 8 win guy?
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:33 AM ^
After 2 wins the previous year? Maybe so.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:44 PM ^
Minnesota must be paying players.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:46 PM ^
If we could have swapped Tanner Morgan for Shea Patterson, we would have beaten Alabama by 2 TDs.
Go figure.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:53 PM ^
Not if Harbaugh coached Morgan
January 1st, 2020 at 4:47 PM ^
Meanwhile, PJ Fleck has Minnesota scoring 31 points and a win against Auburn (who beat Bama by the way) in only three years with a QB who can throw an accurate deep ball, hit WRs in stride, and move the offense.
Why is it so damn difficult for Jim Harbaugh to field a competent QB...in YEAR FIVE!
You have to give Don Brown and the defense credit for today. Yes they’ve given up multiple big plays, but on the whole, they came to play and mostly held their own against one of the best teams in the country.
This shit show is brought to you entirely by Shea Patterson and whoever the fuck the QB coach is on this team utterly failing in their respective responsibilities.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:36 AM ^
I missed the game. Who filled in at OC for Minny? Interim or perm? Didn't the OC already take off for his new gig? I guess google is my friend, I'll look there next. Answers forthcoming....
Ah, the interim OC is Matt Simon, a young in-house turk who probably just made a pretty good case for becoming the perm. OC. Almost 500 yds of total offense... against Auburn! And some pretty ballsy 4th down go-fer-it calls. I'll have to catch the game on replay.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:48 PM ^
Who cares?
January 1st, 2020 at 4:48 PM ^
Minnesota should have played Alabama and we should have played Auburn. Those were the correct bowl matchups which were of course botched, as usual (see: Virginia in a NY6 game, us playing Florida again last year).
The only reason it was reversed is because Alabama vs Michigan brings a built in audience. Not so sure we don’t beat Auburn and I am pretty certain Minnesota does not beat Alabama. Alabama is better than Auburn.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:51 PM ^
Minnesota, Wisconsin, Penn State have all passed Michigan
January 1st, 2020 at 5:25 PM ^
Michigan is about on par with Wisconsin and Penn State on a program level
January 1st, 2020 at 5:28 PM ^
Wisconsin blew us out and is playing in the Rose Bowl. We haven't been there in 14 years.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:45 PM ^
Michigan has been 2-2 vs both Wisconsin and Penn State recently. We basically just murder each other at home
And don't throw out the Rose Bowl argument. You and I both know it's because Wisconsin is in the Big Ten West. Michigan would look a lot more impressive if we got to play that schedule too
January 1st, 2020 at 5:30 PM ^
Harbaugh is 2-0 against Minnesota, 3-2 against Penn State, and 2-2 against Wisconsin. I realize the board is mostly negativity today but this statement is inaccurate.
Michigan went 8-1 in the Big Ten last year and was a better QB performance against Notre Dame from going into OSU undefeated (the teams you named all finished with more Big Ten losses this season than we did last)
Minnesota’s schedule was a joke and they still lost to Wisconsin for the 15 time in 16 tries. We took a step back this season (as many predicted due to the defensive losses) but will likely be better next year, frankly, because Shea really held us back.
We played 5 top 10 quality teams (ND, Wisconsin, OSU, PSU, and Bama). We won one of two we played at home. Not beating OSU is extremely annoying but losing to top 10 teams on the road happens to most teams, even really good ones.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:36 PM ^
Wisconsin has been to multiple Rose Bowls since our last appearance.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
Wisconsin gets to play in the West
January 1st, 2020 at 4:55 PM ^
If we could have swapped Tanner Morgan for Shea Patterson, we would have beaten Alabama by 2 TDs.
Go figure.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:55 PM ^
And the game wasn’t as close as the score indicated. Three kneel downs at Auburn 10 and vastly outplayed them - more than double the yards.
January 1st, 2020 at 4:58 PM ^
So Auburn beat Alabama. Meaning Auburn is better than Alabama. And while Michigan lost by 19 to Alabama, Minnesota was able to beat Auburn. Michigan is like the 5th best team in the B1G right now. Pathetic, especially given how much Harbaugh is making.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:24 PM ^
Michigan’s going to beat Minnesota, next year...book it
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:50 AM ^
But considering it will be @Minny it might be uncomfortable.
January 1st, 2020 at 5:21 PM ^
Harbaugh would have been flagged for the shit Fleck pulled with 2 min left in the game
January 1st, 2020 at 5:21 PM ^
It is said, "If you fire Harbaugh, who are you going to get?" I dunno, let's ask the Minnesota AD how he found P.J. Fleck.
January 2nd, 2020 at 2:58 AM ^
Jury is still out on Fleck. Great recruiter but hasn't put together a full season yet. Surprising wins against PSU and Auburn but choked away the B1G West losing to Iowa and Wiscy in consecutive weeks to end league play and piss away a B1G Championship berth. Next year will tell a more complete story but even then they escape PSU and OSU on the schedule. Just imagine how much easier it would be for us if we could do the same.
