I know, I know.  No politics.

But isn't there one thing that could bring us all together?  One thing we could all get behind?

Sainristil for President 2036*!

* (Constitutional amendment required, as he was born in Haiti.  Time to start a campaign...)

Natural born citizen means a person born as a US citizen. Meaning not a naturalized citizen but you don’t have to actually be born in the US.

See Cruz, Ted who was born in Canada to US citizen mother and ran for US president.
So being born in Haiti wouldn’t matter on its Face if his parent(s) were US citizens at the time. Obviously if his parents are not citizen then being born in Haiti to non-US citizens would be disqualifying

Let me put your mind back together...

The term "natural born citizen" is used in the Constitution but it is not defined there. Case law is thin and generally indirect. The question has never been directly addressed by the Supreme Court and challenges to eligibility under this clause have generally been tossed by lower courts due to the claimant's lack of standing.

Discussions at the Constitutional convention do not provide evidence of the precise definition of the term. Historically at the time of the Constituion's writing use of "natural born" was sometimes but not always used to mean born on the soil of the nation/kingdom in question. It is reasonable to guess that is what the term may have been intended to mean.  It is also reasonable to guess it means "citizen at birth".

Beyond those born to citizen parents but on foreign soil, there are additional issues around those born on US soil to diplomats or other representatives of foreign governments. There is some consensus on these issues and it does seem to tend towards "citizen at birth" but by no means is this issue resolved and it is not unreasonable to hold to the "born in US soil" interpretation. I do not prefer this interpretation, but it is reasonable.

Not really odd, it's covered in the Constitution.

Article II, Section 1, Clause 5:

No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Good interview, but Eisen missed the opportunity, while discussing the 2022 Game at the shoe, to sing the hosannas of Mikey’s PBU on Stover in the end zone.  Game was still a toss up at that point, and had Mikey not made the play and had OSU scored, could’ve been the momentum shifter.
Probably one of the top 5 UM plays I can remember.

One of the great all-time Michigan plays for sure, but remember that OSU scored. The FG was good. So, 31-23 instead of 31-27 (or, maybe, 31-28 if Ryan Day suddenly grew a set and ran the ball in a short-yardage situation and had success). Does Michigan clench up if they're up only three instead of eight? I don't think so. Not that team.

Hoping Mikey has a great career in the NFL, but only the stepping stone for what he's going to accomplish.  Great for Boston area football too!  Speaking of that, you won't believe the vile and hate being thrown at JJ by the Boston media.  Hoping he goes someplace and continues to kick ass while Daniels, Drake "BUST" Maye or Penix come to the shit show that is the Patriots.  Draft any of those 3, the chants of "Ache for Arch" will be popular in Foxboro.

Thanks for posting. That was long, 16 minutes, and I kept meaning to click off but, between Eisen's enthusiasm and Sainristil's thoughtful answers, I  kept listening.

Congratulations to Mikey on the baby. Wishing you and your partner the best.

I watched a highlight video of the 2023 M Defense. One thing that stood out was Mikey. I called him the ender of worlds. Not even sure if that’s a word but that’s all Mike did last season was end worlds.

I love Rich being a national media guy who's a complete M homer. I know some guys, like a Herbie, can't do that and still be respected in their role. But Rich sure as hell can and it's awesome.

A very worthwhile 17 minutes.   Wishing Mike and his family happiness, good health, and success.

He's so well spoken - engaging - knowledgeable - and a tremendous representative of Michigan.   Mike and "whoever he brings" are always welcome at our tailgate.

Go Blue!

P.S. - Would you rather have a "five star" prospect, or a three star like Mike?
