This is weird...Happy for the success of former players, but hard to see him for the Golden Domers.

Seemed to me that the current and former players have high respect for Mike.

Embedding a Tweet isn't too bad, though the process isn't super intuitive and hasn't been officially stated anywhere to my knowledge. Props to theGlove for first cluing me in to the power of oembed.

  1. Copy the URL for the Tweet to the clipboard. It needs to be the URL from the address bar, not the "Embed Tweet" code. It can be done on a phone but probably will require you to view the Tweet in a mobile browser as opposed to the Twitter app.
  2. Click the "Source" icon in the mgoblog comment interface.
  3. Write the following, starting at <oembed>:
    1. <oembed>[insert Tweet URL here]</oembed>
  4. Voila, your posted Tweet will appear just like it does on Twitter.

If your post contains content other than the embedded Tweet, I'd suggest writing your post content first and leaving space to do the "source" <oembed> part.

Really bad look, Brockster.  McCray is merely trying to get a start as a GA in the coaching world, for which there are a limited number of opportunities.  Using your logic, if a Michigan graduate goes to the ND law school, that person would be a "turncoat."  I don't think so.

thank god the man who runs our video team told Rich Rod NO, it is too dangerous for our people when RR ordered them to go up in the scissor lifts that very same day.

we could have had a similar tragedy if not for phil Bromley

also a really good thing that when Harbaugh got here he had actual Towers built as well as investing in a camera on a telescoping pole to film practice. always thought it was ignorant to have people go up in those things when their are other options.

I despise Notre Dame football too, but I'm happy for Mike McCray to have found a spot inside a big time program.  Hope he finds a lot of success there and elsewhere.

I guess I should have used a different word than weird. I was implying that it will be weird to see a former player on the rivals sideline, not that it's weird for them to get jobs at rival schools. I missed out on my elaboration. I shouldn't post at 1am.

I guess being happy for his success is not the same thing as congratulations

I believe that you are limited to 2 years as a GA at a particular school so Mike had to make a move unless M wanted to offer a fully paid position.  Best of luck Mike!  Hope you enjoy yelling.

Was it weird when Ty Wheatley was coaching for Syracuse?  Was it weird when Mike Hart was coaching at Indiana?  Was it weird when Jim Harbaugh was coaching at Stanford?

WTF is this post all about, anyway?

Exactly!  He accepted a position at Michigan immediately after his playing career was over.  He gave it his all while he was at Michigan.  Due to injuries and the nature of the game he wasn’t able to live out his dream in the NFL, but how many players do?  Mike McCray is an intelligent, fine young man with a family.  He married his high school sweetheart and he deserves to be happy and to also make a living the best way he can.  Go Mike, and Go Blue!!!

because M fans hate ND?

had he gone to Bama or other schools no one would give 2 craps

its where he went that people don't like.

I get it, the guy needed a job and ND is a big time program, has even achieved WAY more than M has the last 10 + years.

Still I am not sure how people cannot at least understand why some people don't like it that he is going to help a rival

I know.  The nerve of a former UM footballer taking a job at another university.

Relatedly, I will be submitting my resignation from employment at another Big 10 university immediately to appease the Michigan fanbase.

Hopefully he learns a lot, becomes a better football mind, a better coach, and Michigan is able to use his knowledge and skills again in the future.

Working for Notre Dame is just a job and guys do stuff like this all the time. If Mike's successful as a coach, no doubt he'll be back in Ann Arbor eventually

I'm more disappointed that Mike seems to be in the Rose Twitterverse

I wish him the best, and hope this is another productive stop as he pursues his career goals. It's certainly possible to learn a lot from a bad-but-brilliant boss (which IMO he is signing up to here).
