Mike McCarthy retained in Dallas

Looks like the cowboys are retaining Mike McCarthy. One less job for Harbaugh to interview.

there are so many stupid takes surrounding this entire saga.  like, singe-brain-cell, amoeba-level stupid.  trying to read the tea leaves based on some made-up odds at some sketch offshore betting site are way, WAY stupider.

I don't think Harbaugh would ever work for Jerry Jones, but this makes me happy nonetheless because it means the Cowboys will continue to lose playoff games they shouldn't. It was so great when they made this hire. Their whole problem was that they did well during the regular season and then imploded in the playoffs so they went and hired a guy who just got fired for doing that exact same thing.

I just wish the Cowboys would stop drafting Michigan players. I don't want them to give me any reason to sympathize with their team.

Jerry Jones + Jim Harbaugh was never going to happen. If Minnesota's GM understood the value of draft picks (and Al Davis hadn't stopped him from trading away Michael Irvin), Jones is probably O-fer on Super Bowls.

i don't think i have known a lions fan to be puffed up about the lions maybe ever, certainly in decades.

that said, if you give the lions the clearly stolen win in dallas from a few weeks ago, they have won 22 of their last 28 games.  they are a legit good football team who have a real chance to play in the NFC championship game next week.

who'd a thunk it?

Jerry Jones and Harbaugh together is like oil and water. Those two would not mix.

Harbaugh wants total control, or near complete control. Jerry Jones is very Dave Brandon-esque in that he’s going to be breathing down your neck in team meetings, he wants his hand in how the day to day operates, and he thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. I’d be shocked if he ever gives the kind of control Harbaugh would want.

Ok. I'll admit. I was wrong.

I thought for sure Coach Harbaugh would at least get a virtual interview after McCarthy choked..Again...

Turns out Jerry Jones is the literally definition of "Insanity".

The Clown show in Dallas continues.

It seems like 75% of the NFL is considered a “clown show” nowadays.

Honestly, other than the 8 remaining Playoff teams, which other team couldn’t be considered a “clown show” in some way?

Cowboys - yes

Eagles - yes

Vikings - yes

Jaguars, Titans, Panthers, Colts, Patriots, Seahawks, yes to all of them!  There were 8 teams looking for a new Coach in the last week ferchrissakes.

Maybe I'm naive but I find it extremely difficult to believe that Harbaugh would openly negotiate with Michigan then be gone tomorrow.

I mean I know super bowl, blah, blah, blah, but also he's this generations Bo and he's built an absolute juggernaut which has to be difficult to walk away from. And the new playoff is going to be exciting too.

I believe he's coming back because I believed it last 2 years and he did. I've never been so sick when he got on that plane to Minnesota. I don't ever want to feel that again so please get the deal done.

Jerry will not hire someone who could overshadow him. It's why he fired Jimmy Johnson. Not sure if still true, but in the early 2000s Jerry had his own weekly radio show (the head coach also had one which was separate), in which if you didn't know better, you would assume Jerry was the head coach.

good too as belichick won't take that job. Internet was connecting the dots between Jones and Belichick for the last few days. Like, why would he go there where Jones demands full control?

"But Jones doesn't demand full control. You don't know the Cowboys."

Oh there is nothing in the Cowboys that Jones doesn't micromanage. He is as hands on as can be
