This shall be the thread for your thoughts on the offense in our game vs. Florida

It feels like we game planned to put the offense at a disadvantage by making a large portion of our plays the result of the execution of our shaky inexpereinced offensive line against the execution of their star studded NFL bound defensive line. Chris Evans had a long day of tough sledding, and we left a bunch of opportunities on the field. We even loaded up the box with our formations repeatedly before running into the box anyways. Not saying the coaches didn't coach smart or scheme well, they did great, drew up a bunch of brilliant playcalls that won the gaem, and the line really pulled together and won a ton of battles, but like last years almost completely ineffective Pepcat, it seems like they also like to try things over and over again, regardless of the outcome.

Speight really got his Steve DeBerg on today. Some early whiffs but overall there were encouraging signs from the line. Playmakers mostly did playmaker stuff.

Going to have some disappointments unless we can find/develop a qb, possibly Speight himself, that isn't benchworthy. Speight was not up to the standards of really any of his teammates. Except maybe the OL. Have to watch again. I'm going to click on over to the defense thread now. I can't hear you, offense. La la la...

Overall they comported themselves well. Sleight of course had the terrible pick and some overthrows, but connected on the bomb and settled down eventually. Black is awesome. RBs fine as expected. OL I thought did quite well considering Florida's highly-touted line.

If defense plays elite and the running game is strong i am ok with Speight being who he is. First couple of games are always tricky since the team has a lot of new guys and they need to jell.

Disappointed in Speight today..he lost all that weight but it didn't make any difference. I just don't ever think he'll be THE MAN. It's like he's hit his ceiling as a QB and he is what he is.

Coming into today I fully expected the offense to look sloppy, with essentially a new offensive line and new freshmen receivers. Overall I saw about what I expected. Lots of room for improvement, but definitely some positives as well. The development from Speight and the rest of the offense these next few weeks will be critical.

Happy to be 1-0 leaving Dallas. This young team is going to be dangerous.

Now, then. About that comment about the Michigan defensive line not being able to go sideline to sideline. Someone remind me: which team's RB's continued to get the edge this afternoon?

To be fair, wasn't he the receiver on the play where Speight threw it out of bounds? He would have at least had a TD today if that throw is anywhere close to decent. (Not sure if that means he is a good receiver--just think that he should have an asterisk in his stat line for tonight!)

Ty Isaac doesn't have breakaway speed and any defensive back on the country can take him down easily. I've never seen such a big rb go down on first contact every time. Also, Speight had some really nice throws to Perry

would have loved to see both Speight and O'Korn take the dump off to the back out of the backfield instead of taking sacks, though.  Don't remember ever targeting a back split wide, and no screens against a hard-rushing team surprised me, but those are small potatoes. We did plenty well enough for a first game.

A great handle on the offense and knows who to throw to but makes a few terrible throws...again. OL did better than anticipated. RBs looked good especially Isaac. WRs looked pretty good too. Solud performance but man the INTs have to stop against good teams

I'd agree 8f he didn't make a few bad decisions down the stretch on who to throw to. He took a sack late instead of hitting an open Eubanks, it was like he couldn't anticipate that Eubanks would be open. And on the missed corner route attempt to Perry, the wideout (Perry was in the slot) was wide the Frick open with running room for an easy 1st down.
