Michigan should be ranked #2
And it isn’t close. Here is why:
1) we are the only ranked 1-loss team
2) TCU has a bad loss to UGA, and 2 losses overall
3) TCU is being schooled by a team that barely beat, OSU, that we creamed at the toilet bowl
4) Our one loss was close, with bad calls. And lots of turnovers.
it isn’t close.

Who cares.....
January 9th, 2023 at 9:55 PM ^
It just hit the wires that the entire TCU coaching staff retired after the Michigan game.
They instituted the George Costanza rule
January 9th, 2023 at 10:10 PM ^
I've never understood why anyone cares about end of season rankings
January 10th, 2023 at 12:32 AM ^
When your team ends #1
January 9th, 2023 at 11:51 PM ^
Man, I am so glad I went to play pick-up volleyball instead of staying home to watch whatever the hell that was.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:40 PM ^
Lol. No.

Reeks of pouting and foot stomping and throwing a temper tantrum.
I'm speaking of the OP, not uofmchris2.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:40 PM ^
Who cares?
January 9th, 2023 at 9:41 PM ^
We are B1G champions and crushed osu, again. Awesome season - postseason rankings mean nothing. Looking forward to more trophies next year. This program is humming.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:44 PM ^
But if you dont win a national championship whats the point. A program and a coach are judged based on championships and we still have zero to show for
January 9th, 2023 at 9:48 PM ^
I feel badly for fans who have this standard. You’ll live almost your entire life in disappointment.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:51 PM ^
As a michigan fan yes. For some reason mens national championships are impossible to get
January 9th, 2023 at 10:25 PM ^
your right those georgia fans look so disappointed
January 9th, 2023 at 11:09 PM ^
History is replete with stadiums full of happy crowds. Those looking up at them had a different perspective.
January 10th, 2023 at 10:12 AM ^
They had some bumps along the way, including a crushing finals loss 5 years ago, then didn't even get back to the playoffs for 3 years... despite having one of the most talented teams in the country and a top staff year in and year out. This shit is hard, way harder than it even was in the BCS era - now you have to beat two top 5 teams after a conference championship game to win a title.
One definite downside of the playoff is that now 3/4 best teams in the country end the season with a loss, when 20 years ago it was probably the opposite with 3/4 ending with a win in bowls. This inevitably will lead to less fan happiness, and is the price we pay for a "definitive" champion. Just wait until expansion when 11/12 top teams end the season with a loss - think that is going to make anyone feel better? You're just being sold the illusion of a better chance to win. I'll bet any amount of money I have that no seed below a 5 will ever win a 12 team playoff.
January 10th, 2023 at 12:12 PM ^
I bet it will take a decade for a team outside the top 3 to win. TCU fielded a team where of the top 22 players Georgia had 18 or 19 of them. Try that out in the NFL and see what happens.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:49 PM ^
Michigan has a championship.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:52 PM ^
I am sure you were saying two years ago, what is the point, we don't beat OSU, we don't win B1G, we don't go to playoffs. Now this. LOL. Be happy. We are in a great place as a program.
January 10th, 2023 at 8:50 AM ^
My guess is these are they type of people who, after a national championship win, would say, "But what does it matter if you can't do what Alabama has done and win it almost every year?"
January 9th, 2023 at 9:52 PM ^
Michigan has had two championships in two seasons. Two of the most fun fan seasons of my 42 years. It has been awesome. I hope we can do it again.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:57 PM ^
Exactly; the last two years provided for a lot of joy. Put the “this is what we expect” back in our collective step.
January 10th, 2023 at 8:37 AM ^
Exactly. I don't chase half empty. If your approach is suddenly Natty or bust than what are the percentages for disappointment?
This is why I preferred the bowl and vote imperfect system that mostly arrived in the same place without diluting all tradition as is so popular in this world of cheat codes (formerly known as crib notes). Bowls are neutered now. Rankings still lead us down this path anyway and the Final Four approach is detrimental to a collegiate amateur in health and education (study time, for the archaic).
How does going to an expanded playoff help a student athletes' decision to opt out for health, education or future earnings reasons? I know it selfishly feeds our enjoyment at Jake Butt-esque risk.
Get off my lawn!
January 9th, 2023 at 10:00 PM ^
i dont think your definition of a championship matches mine. NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP
January 9th, 2023 at 10:02 PM ^
No - we have the same definition of championship.
A good communicator specifies better than you did.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:26 PM ^
If the audience are morons even the best communicator wont get the message across
January 9th, 2023 at 10:43 PM ^
You, sir, are not the best communicator. And we are not morons.
January 9th, 2023 at 11:03 PM ^
Speak for yourself, Pete. Some of us are tremendous morons
January 10th, 2023 at 4:30 PM ^
I thought it was slouches?
January 10th, 2023 at 5:30 PM ^
FIFY
January 9th, 2023 at 10:50 PM ^
So if you're under the age of 80, all but one season has been a disappointment to you?
January 9th, 2023 at 11:02 PM ^
that's because you either win the nat'l title or are a failure in your eyes. so one coach and one team are gods. all other 150+ head coaches and 15,000+ players are failures. bad take on life.
January 10th, 2023 at 10:10 AM ^
You need to come to grips with reality so you aren't miserable your entire life- Michigan may never win another national title
Demographics shifts have made it really hard for a midwestern team to recruit at the level to win a title. OSU is really the only team that has shown the ability to do it. Enjoy the program where it's at because this may be as good as it gets
January 9th, 2023 at 10:38 PM ^
I believe the most important championship has been won the last two years. I don’t care about manufacturing of matchups to make money then calling it a legitimate championship.
January 10th, 2023 at 12:15 PM ^
Going forward here is a fun way to think about it. Any and all playoff games are exhibitions unless we make the championship game. Fun if we win but no worries if we dont.
Easier said than done but it would be a good way to look at it in the future.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:28 PM ^
I literally couldn't care less about the national championship. I care about beating ohio and winning the conference. Everything after that is an exhibition bowl game.
January 9th, 2023 at 10:53 PM ^
most pathetic statement ever lol
January 9th, 2023 at 10:34 PM ^
Funny, I see two Big Ten Championships the past two seasons after SEVENTEEN YEARS without one, and two of the biggest victories in recent memory against our arch rival.
Winning national titles is damn hard, competing for them the past two years after the run we've had has been a high water mark for the program since 1997, but hey you can continue to be completely obtuse and say "we have zero to show for"...
January 10th, 2023 at 7:55 AM ^
How many championships have you won in life? Just want to be sure you're holding yourself to the same standard and not relying on others to get you there.
January 10th, 2023 at 8:15 AM ^
I took fourth in my 6th grade spelling bee. I have also won back to back titles in Retro Bowl.
January 10th, 2023 at 9:15 AM ^
If you're from the 330 area code, I can let it slide.
January 10th, 2023 at 9:21 AM ^
Retro Bowl FTW.
(I also have my team sporting the Maize and Blue -- you can edit team colors in the app and get the official color codes from the U of M branding page).
January 10th, 2023 at 4:33 PM ^
If this were golf he'd be heading toward the lowest score! Maybe that is the gambit or something moronical.
January 10th, 2023 at 12:02 PM ^
So according to your "reasoning," the last two seasons are the same as the ones in which tOSU blew out UM, and tOSU was the team that won the B1G championship and made it into the CFP. And--again, according to your "reasoning"--every year, only one team has anything greater than zero to show for its season. What a sad, miserable person you must be.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:44 PM ^
So bowl games mean nothing. Now post-season rankings mean nothing. Michigan fans and copium lmao.
January 9th, 2023 at 9:56 PM ^
Straw man argument. No one said bowl games mean nothing. Championships matter, rankings don’t matter. I know you are smart, but be better Cube
January 9th, 2023 at 11:03 PM ^
he can't. he and rxwolverine are the same ilk.
January 10th, 2023 at 9:24 AM ^
No one said bowl games mean nothing
Ummm, no.
There are plenty of posts and comments in this forum over the past couple of weeks... ESPECIALLY where others have commented about JH's bowl record... that have replies of, wait for it, that bowl games mean nothing.
You and anyone negging Cube are either 1, revisionist historians or 2, are exactly what the Cube is referring to.
