This is not directed at the OP.

The reality is that "Michigan Monday" or other miscellaneous 11W, or Buckeye content, or stupid mouth-breathing RCMB content has been posted here periodically in the past. Having said that, I think all of it needs to stop immediately. Zero tolerance.

We thought we were involved in sports rivalries. The joke, sadly, is on us. Neither Ohio State nor Michigan State views us as sports rivals. They view us as subhuman. They despise us. The despise our players, our coaches, our administrators, and maybe most of all, us, the fans.

Assaults after the game? Our fault. We win on the field after a nearly two decade decline? We must be cheating (or it's the weather, or it's the flu, or it's the refs, or it's 5 fluke plays). The days of Woody and Bo are gone. They're dead. They're never coming back. And we need to get over it or we're going to be the ones on the outside looking in.

We no longer have rich sports rivalries. I hope the Board of Regents continues to wake up. We need to leave the B1G while we have value and leverage. There's a future if we have the courage to seize it.

Of all the opposing takes on the scandal, the one I suffer the least is the idea that there will be some kind of karmic justice delivered on the field that will validate every single fever-induced delusion about Michigan.  Grudeman's post is dripping with it. He blindly ignores the simple and obvious fact that what happens on the field, win or lose, has absolutely nothing to do with anything other than what's going on in the game itself.  There is no objective truth about the morality of the school, team, or coaches to be gleaned from the game.  Yet he and so many other OSU fans are so eager to (excuse the crassness) blow their wad, that they continue to wrongly equate a Michigan loss on the field with the rightness their moral position.  Anything denying them that release is a cause for scorn and rage.

To that, I will happily declare, as was wonderfully explained in a prior Opponent Watch, "Vae victis" - woe to the vanquished.   I truly hope that, in two weeks, our team marches the Buckeyes straight back to Columbus with their third L in as many years, that Ryan Day will be left fending off calls for his removal, and that Grudeman and OSU fans be forced to stare into the face of the all-consuming BPONE as they look upward into a moonless night sky, into the uncaring eyes of the universe, for an explanation why could that terrible cheating team from up north be allowed to defeat their righteous football team for a third year in a row.

And then, mercifully, after their rage has gone unanswered and all that is left are the embers of resentment and jealousy, may they be granted a shred of perspective and realize that it's just a fucking football game.

Think how terrified they are.  This year they’ll lose both too WR’s, Henderson and Stover and the backups haven’t emerged like in the days of MHJ and JSN already pushing Olive and Wilson.   Their two DE’s are leaving.  This program is in decline.  This is when it starts to hit, year 4-5, when a guy born on third base who’s never built anything starts to have the program look like his vision.  Ryan Day cannot develop players to the defeee that Urban could.

They are so fucking scared.  Love it.

UM wins on the road at PSU without its head coach by two scores controlling the entire game by running it down PSU's throat due to difficulties in pass protection caused by elite edges and crowd noise..... "UM got away with one"

OSU beats PSU at home, by 8 points with a dubious fumble return for TD overturned which turned into a 14 point swing... "OSU is tuff, gritty and hard nosed!!!"

OSU fans are shitting their pants for what's to come Nov 25th.

Seems like the only reason for a separate post on something called "Michigan Monday" would be if it fell on a day other than Monday, right?

I think the brilliance of the Buckeye Huddle is overrated. Why should they get free advertising?

As you noted, the title suggests that they're some degree of off-center about this recent "scandal."

In usual times, I like reading the column and find Gerdeman's analysis enjoyably witty. Right now, I don't see why this needs to be posted and I regret giving him a click.

Gerdeman these days seems to be suffering from the same fragile psyche as the rest of the Buckeye fanbase. They are desperate for an excuse for why we've gained the upper hand in the rivalry, so they're latching onto this "cHeAtInG" war cry, even though we know that (1) Ohio State changed their signs last year and had ours, and (2) sign-stealing played no role in our physical dominance in 2021.

The willful blindness of that fanbase is pretty amusing to watch. The meltdown on November 25 will be even better.

Of all the Buckeye writers, I used to like Gerdeman's the best but yeah, much like the rest of that fragile fanbase, they've been unable to mentally describe how we've beaten them 2 years in a row and this has given them the easy excuse they were looking for.  Unlike MGoBlog, which does comprehensive analysis of other teams, they struggled to accurately assess the reason for their sudden losing streak and now they won't even bother beyond yelling "cheaters".

Whoop their ass in 2 weeks and we'll just utterly crush their brittle spirit

I don't know why we post something that measures the number of four letter words written in a game thread every week.  The first time it was cute and a nice test of a search function.

Reading Michigan Monday is no big deal.  After all of the crap that has been hurled at us over the last few weeks the read seems quite benign and frankly more interesting than some of the threads that have been posted over the last few weeks.

As hilarious as it would be, I don't think Day would be fired if they lose next week (unless its something like a 49-0 beatdown that's even less competitive than the score indicates). Outside of Smart or Saban, there's literally no one else they could hire and reasonably ask to do better than what Day has been doing, unless somehow they lured Meyer back, which would be a PR nightmare for them.

That all to say, I think coordinators and position coaches would absolutely be on the chopping block. Day may have to clean house and start fresh with a new staff if he loses again next week. Maybe even ditch Hartline. Yeah the guy recruits and develops WRs like no one else can, but what does it matter if you lose the most important game?

Ryan Day isn't getting fired and that's because Gene Smith is nearing retirement and won't want to hire a new football coach on his way out for the next AD. Ryan Day is 100 percent safe this yeah and probably even next year if he loses then as well.

Which is particularly funny because you know that the calls for his head after a loss this year will be deafening. I look forward to the outrage like non other

This is how it's been the last 2 seasons. Gerdeman starts off all funny and witty with the right amount of snark. As the season progresses and Michigan looks like a powerhouse, his tone notably shifts. He's definitely hit tone-shift after Michigan beat up on PSU.

That said, I do appreciate that his schtick generally doesn't ever devolve into pure assholery like the rest of the osu world seems to do.

In the past, the analysis was good and I had some respect (and a strong dislike) for Ohio St.  That is no longer the case.

Now it will take a hundred years before I can even respect MSU and OSU ever again.  Earlier this year I thought it was in my daughter's best interest to apply to OSU (top 100 university, close to here).  Now, there is no f'ing way I will let her go to OSU, let alone apply.

All that happens when you get close to filth is nausea.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny. I never much have liked victim mentality, which wayyy too many people on the Michigan side are wearing like a second skin right now.

And of course, I love this quote. Writers man, they know how to say what I want to say and it actually.. like, makes sense.

I’m not against analytics at all. But analytics needs to be treated as a tool, not a religion. And if you treat it like a religion, you’re eventually gonna go to hell.

I’ve had a hard time tolerating OSU since they hired Urban “Chinless Wonder” Meyer. Prior to that I always felt like there was a mutual respect in the rivalry. Meyer brings an edge of pettiness to everything he touches, and Day has boosted that to 11.
When I think of OSU (especially their coaching staff) now, I think of Popovich’s phrase “soulless coward” and smile in affirmation.

I liked this:  "there had to be some relief in the knowledge that Penn State head coach James Franklin would be on the Nittany Lions’ sideline, doing everything he could to make sure his game management evened out any kind of advantage the Nittany Lions may have had."

Yep.  That is the most pathetic Michigan Monday I have ever read.  About 50% vitriol (via snark) and virtually no insight.

Looks like this is coming to fruition:

Hatred, which could destroy so much, never failed to destroy the man who hated, and this was an immutable law.

I haven't read these for awhile, and certainly not since SignGate started. What OSU has done in stirring all this up is definitely over the line, even for the biggest rivalry in sports. Fuck 'em.
