Michigan doesn't make top 5 for 2023 4* Jyaire Hill (????)

This would be odd and very shocking. Some people are speculating there was an error in his graphic and Mizzou should be Michigan?

Dude, I have been spending every second of every day prepping for TCU since the B1G Championship game ended. Have I been recruiting too? Yes: this is, after all, the close of the early signing period. Does any of my hard work matter to our ungrateful coaching staff? NO. They insist that they do not need my input with play calling and to stop contacting them with game plans. They've stated in no uncertain terms that I should STOP CALLING RECRUITS. "You're hurting us, Clarence," they say. "You think you're helping but you're not." But I will continue putting in work through New Year's Eve and beyond, because that's the kind of fan dedication I have. If we lose to TCU, that's on the rest of you so-called fans with your 2025 "Hello" recruiting posts. It's not on me.

We should have a pretty good sense after the last several days that our coaching staff knows what they're doing.  Wouldn't shock me to see a Hello Hill post later this week.

Keep powder dry. Either way good luck to the young man.

UM has demonstrated with its ambassadors (players) the development toward Pro potential. Trust in the recruits that seek this versus a different goal. UM football culture seems strong and needs more foundational material from these young men. To be ultimately be better men, husbands and fathers. True measure of success in life

Perhaps it's Michigan in code from the school symbols.

• M = the upper edge of the gator

* I = Illinois

• CH = the Purdue P a backward mashup of a C and an H

• I = in the strong vertical look of UK

• GAN = as "GAN" looks sorta oval, it's subsumed in the oval of that Tiger look

Trolling and all is fine.. but he's actually trolling the fans who would be cheering for him at Michigan since we're the ones freaking out, and the fans of those other 2nd rate football teams are now bolstered by the chance.

Feels like trolling... not quite ... trolling the right audience.

If those are his top 5 it is very unlikely he was ever coming to Ann Arbor.

I did see he had his own clothing line.  Maybe he wants immediate playing time to promote his brand?  Either way those teams have not reached the heights that Michigan has and really are not on the doorstep of doing so.  If he had another super power in his top 5 maybe he was just sour on Michigan, but it looks like he wants to go a tier lower.  Which is not a knock on the kid, just an observation.  I hope he has success where ever he goes.  Just not against Michigan if he ends up in the Big Ten.

I’ll just add that before everyone starts crapping on the kid and saying we didn’t want him anyway, let’s see how this plays out so we don’t end up looking like a bunch of chumps.

Did Charles Woodson convince Travis Hunter to not follow Coach Prime to Colorado and become a future Heisman contender at Michigan on the defensive side of the ball like Peppers, Hutchinson and himself. Hunter was playing on the offensive side of the ball for a few snaps on his last Jackson State game and flashed like Woodson!

Good lort, people! Were none of you around when we launched MGoBlog 3.0 and I had them put up a Geocities version of our site during the migration? Or were you the message boarders who took it seriously?

You don't need special insider information (nobody has it anyways) for this one. He's just messing with you all. "Where's Home?"

^Quote from this Maize n Brew article related to his visit to Ann Arbor during the Illinois game (not sure if Michigan being "Mars" and the fan base being an alien population is a good thing?):

“Michigan is Mars to sum it up,” Hill laughed. “Fan base is the alien population.

“Staff is over the top. They’re not shy at all. They know that they’re a big-time university but they put you first."

Hill’s unofficial top two are Michigan and Illinois, and it appears that’s what it is going to come down to whenever he makes his decision. He told Wiltfong Michigan is in his “top-three,” but he didn’t specify which other two schools were up there.

Also, On3.com has him as 95.6% going to Michigan, with Illinois at 3.4% and Notre Dame < 1%: https://www.on3.com/db/jyaire-hill-147515/

Sounds like he had a good relationship with Ryan Walters, so maybe he is following him to Purdue?

Remember when this board used to live and die by every big recruit? Now we’re like “man, it would’ve been nice to have him, but we trust the coaches.”

I like this version better.

This whole thing is very odd. He has visited Michigan a lot and has had nice things to say about them and was given crystal balls for Mich by pretty much all the experts...  and then doesn't even include them in the top 5?? Unless he's just trolling Michigan, that seems like he's trying to send a message to Michigan that he is all of a sudden very unhappy with something they did or didn't do. Maybe he's scared of competition from recently committed 3 star Waller? Or maybe he knows that Michigan is about to get a high profile CB transfer?

For all the people that say he's trolling... have there been cases before of recruits committing to a school that wasn't in their top 5?

This would be a huge miss! Hill is going to be very good, would have been sick to pair with Will Johnson.

Odd turn of events but that’s recruiting for you in 2022… either way with how good this staff has been the last few years I’m content letting both this announcement and the transfer possibilities play out!!
