Michigan adds OL from Portal

Don't sleep on Anderson. Crippen is/was the heir apparent there but I think they also really like Raheem's upside there.

Michigan will just run 3 guards full time next year... BEEF
December 6th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
Edit:
Seems a solid pickup. Curious to see how the IOL shakes out after the season.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:25 PM ^
They must be planning for one or both starting guards to leave.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:26 PM ^
Henderson can play tackle. Also, he has 3 years of eligibility and it's not like Michigan took a big OL class this year.

PTBNL in the Frankie Collins trade

So a guard for a guard?
December 6th, 2022 at 1:29 PM ^
An experienced and good OL transfer? All day, every day. Terrific news. Welcome Mr. Henderson!
December 6th, 2022 at 1:30 PM ^
Looks like he is 1-0 against MSU, so he's got that going for him!
December 6th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
News this big.... will be repeated several times today..... over under is 4
December 6th, 2022 at 1:32 PM ^
Not sure why he would transfer here with all of the cultural issues within the program! Right, Bert?!?

December 6th, 2022 at 1:34 PM ^
someone said he can play TE too.... that's probably why All left.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:33 PM ^
Supplementing OL recruiting with the portal seems like a smart use of it. Especially because it’s going to be more common to see teams recruit a kid and see them transfer before fully baked.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:35 PM ^
I love how not a single of the 4 posts about Henderson on the board have his name in the post tile
Regardless, seems like a great pickup to help this OL reload
December 6th, 2022 at 1:37 PM ^
you can clean that up.... Just make #5....someone is going to, might as well be you.

A witch!

I look forward to a bunch of people around here popo-ing a former captain who got hurt at ASU transferring. I get there are different factors at play here (ASU isn't in a bowl and has a new coach) but this is the modern portal era and getting to annoyed either way doesn't help the process go down any smoother.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:52 PM ^
It was not really about being a former captain, it is about some words said on the way out. Cade was a captain too and it was all blessing to him.
December 6th, 2022 at 2:11 PM ^
Cade absolutely has gotten dragged by people for leaving and apparently not showing enough fealty to the program when he lost his starting job earlier in the year.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:53 PM ^
he was on a 3 win team that fired the coaching staff that he was recruited by. quite different circumstances, i would say.....
If the circumstances were similar.... he left a program that just won their conference for the second year in a row, no coaching changes... and he left his program taking some shots at them via twitter..... those would be comparable "poo-poo" worthy offenses.
December 6th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
Again, people are rationalizing away the differences. Both McNamara and All have been yelled at recently for not leaving in the way people want them to. Also, at least with McNamara he wasn't recruited by anyone currently on the staff (he was a Pep Hamilton guy) and he's on his third-ish OC depending on how you feel about Weiss carry-over.
My point is that we're all hypocrites which is totally understandable but also why the moralizing about players has always rubbed me the wrong way. YMMV and so be it.

Interesting note from Twitter from a week ago…
https://twitter.com/Klingdorf/status/1597829689954820096?s=20&t=hlNs6sC…
I have a credible source that tells me Ladarius Henderson leaving ASU for Michigan. Says Harbaugh promised him big-time NIL $$$$. Think there will be many more. It could get really bad before it gets better. Thoughts
December 6th, 2022 at 3:07 PM ^
I love the commenter in the thread who's denying that Henderson is going to UM b/c the picture with Henderson, Harbaugh, Moore, et al., is "from a year ago." A World Cup match featuring Brazil is literally on the TV above them.
December 6th, 2022 at 3:56 PM ^
Many more from ASU leaving or many more coming to UM? I need to know!
December 6th, 2022 at 1:48 PM ^
One of the most important position groups to keep building on!!! Let’s go lineman!!
December 6th, 2022 at 1:49 PM ^
Great news from the portal!
December 6th, 2022 at 1:50 PM ^
Hopefully he's more Oluwatimi and less Willie Allen.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:55 PM ^
Weird thought we had some good OL depth with players developing. Could use some edge, rub, or LB depth.
nevertheless welcome aboard.
December 6th, 2022 at 3:16 PM ^
If we lose 4 guys to the NFL, would you be comfortable with our OL next year? Not saying it will happen but 4 guys leaving is a real possibility.
December 6th, 2022 at 5:27 PM ^
Barnhart
El Hadi
Crippenderson
Atteberry
Jones
looks good to me. One of Crippen/Anderson can play guard or alternatively Barnhart at RG and Persi at LT. I can see maybe a lack of depth from this year but I don’t think this transfer is to be a depth player.
December 7th, 2022 at 3:28 AM ^
I'd be very nervous running out Persei or Atteberry next year as they haven't seen much in the way of meaningful playing time or generated much in the way of buzz. Great if they work their way into the lineup but don't want them to be handed a starting spot by default. Crippen has gotten lots of praise and obviously El Hadi played quite a bit this year so the coaches obviously trust him, so I'm not too worried about them.
December 6th, 2022 at 1:59 PM ^
Does this complete the trade for Frankie Collins? Frankie to ASU for a player to be named later?
December 6th, 2022 at 3:47 PM ^
He's a big boy. Wow. Michigan strength and conditioning will chisel him down too.
December 6th, 2022 at 5:54 PM ^
The most important position group-to controlling a game. He must be very good-in every way.
