I'm surprised we don't play Texas first game of the season in Jerry World.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:39 PM ^
Considering how well the last trip to Jerry World went, bite your tongue.
January 23rd, 2020 at 6:27 PM ^
I believe Speight threw 2 (back to back?) pick sixes and we still beat them 33-17. Ah those good old days of infinite hope...
January 24th, 2020 at 7:05 AM ^
Back to back passes, yes. There were two runs in the middle though.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:48 PM ^
Don't speak it into existence
January 23rd, 2020 at 5:46 PM ^
Stop that, SpamCityCentral! Let's just keep TX as the Home & Home series that it is. Which, given the Fresno State game is now arranged, is a desperately-needed marque match-up for the '24 schedule.
January 24th, 2020 at 7:42 AM ^
Our home game portion of that 2 game series will be the one at Jerry World
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:13 PM ^
How soon before we buy-out the Texas game and replace them with a service academy?
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:50 PM ^
That's more of a summer announcement. It will come, no doubt - the announcements have not been kind to the season ticket holders.
January 23rd, 2020 at 5:10 PM ^
I'd rather have a home game vs a service academy than any road game at all
January 23rd, 2020 at 9:48 PM ^
Trip to Austin and chance to play another historical power that we've played once ever versus a triple option game with no upside?
January 23rd, 2020 at 9:01 PM ^
If we are going to buy them out don’t do the service academy thing go the MAC route
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:13 PM ^
Hey WD, you got your wish. Our big road nonconference game isn't the first game of the year.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:15 PM ^
Going to be one boring ass home schedule
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:31 PM ^
2024 is pretty far out, but I imagine 2/3 of Wisconsin, Penn St, and Nebraska will be exciting games
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:18 PM ^
Bit optimistic with the inclusion of that Dec. 7th date, there, fella.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:52 PM ^
Yeah, but at least we're playing Rutger the week before OSU instead of goddamn Indiana.
Naturally Schiano will have turned them into a 10 win team by that time.
January 23rd, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
Schiano will more than likely be a position coach at a D-III school by then. He's about to find out quickly that the Big East was a cake walk.
January 23rd, 2020 at 5:44 PM ^
I don't think Schiano's problem is going to be the Big Ten. There's no reason a good coach can't get them to to be a 6-6, 7-5 marginal bowl team again and every now and then hitting 9-10 wins.
Schiano's real problem is likely to be Schiano. I mean, this is a guy who (according to testimony from Mike McQueary) knew about Jerry Sandusky but didn't tell anyone.
January 23rd, 2020 at 10:50 PM ^
Have you seen the attrition at Rutgers? They are a glorified HS team presently. Combined with not being able to keep in state talent, that program is fucked. Jesus Christ Himself couldn't make Rutgers bowl eligible.
January 23rd, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
don't forget the bonus bye week Nov. 2
January 23rd, 2020 at 8:17 PM ^
He forgot to include the dates of the CFP semifinals and title game.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:18 PM ^
Why would anyone buy season tickets for that slate of games? I'd rather invest in a 96" TV and nachos.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:21 PM ^
Fair enough, they still have to schedule one more home game...plus if we're being honest who knows where teams will be in 2024?
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:43 PM ^
..plus if we're being honest who knows where teams will be in 2024?
If I were a betting man I'd wager expected to be good but not great, somewhere around 9/10 wins.
January 23rd, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
So just like now, fucking awesome!!!
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:50 PM ^
This board can't have it both ways , a easy NC Schedule and bitch about the home game schedule. Please, one way or the other. I have had season tickets since 1978 and enjoy the great NC tough games but the game has changed with the playoffs.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:54 PM ^
Nothing matters until we can beat OSU. We could play, and beat, Clemson, Alabama, and Georgia in the NC, lose to OSU and still miss the damn playoffs.
So I have no fucks left to give regarding the schedule until we beat OSU a time or two.
January 23rd, 2020 at 6:27 PM ^
I don't really care about the "playoffs" since it is just a blatant money grab.
I like *good* home games that are worth devoting the day (and hundreds of dollars) to attend with family and friends. MAC teams, service academies, and other smaller schools aren't worth that IMO.
January 23rd, 2020 at 10:53 PM ^
This all day long.
Tired of hearing the whining about service academies. It's not fair to have only a week to go against the triple option. Ohhh... boo hoo.
Tired of MAC.
Remember when Michigan played Miami, UCLA, Colorado, etc. in the non-conference. I miss playing decent games. Fuck playing Western, UMass, Delaware State, etc.
January 24th, 2020 at 7:12 AM ^
Problem is, you can’t have it both ways. You want Michigan to compete for titles, you have to schedule easier. Period. The B1G is rough as is. MSU is barely a shadow of their recent success, and Michigan STILL faced 6 teams that finished ranked in the top 15.
Having that tough of a schedule, and wanting to add MORE tough games to it, and you can’t really complain when we go 9-3/10-2. That’s a gauntlet to go through. Getting through unscathed is next to impossible.
January 23rd, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
TBH, that's how I prefer to watch most of the games anyway. My bladder appreciates the short walk and lack of a line at the bathroom.
January 23rd, 2020 at 9:30 PM ^
I'd rather invest in a 1996 model TV and a cob of field ?
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:21 PM ^
Wow, totally worth the season tickets cost. What a goddamned rip off.
January 23rd, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
So you want them to go on the road against Texas, MSU, and OSU. Bring Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Penn State to the Big House... AND add a top opponent to the home schedule?
This isn’t how you build a national title contender.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:23 PM ^
I'm sure we'll pay them $1,000,000 to cancel it at the last minute.
So we can play Notre Dame.
At night. In South Bend.
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:36 PM ^
and we have to wear ice skates instead of cleats and spot them a two TD headstart
January 23rd, 2020 at 2:59 PM ^
If it were San Diego St., I would be pumped. Crazy clapping without a headset would happen at my desk.
January 23rd, 2020 at 4:54 PM ^
HELLO THIS IS BRADY HOKE AND I AM VERY EXCITED ABOUT THIS OPPORTUNITY
January 23rd, 2020 at 3:08 PM ^
Nice to have a cupcake game to iron out the offense before we head to Texas. Too bad we could not have a cupcake to break in the team before heading to Washington. I'll be only 4 years away from retiring and hope Harbaugh has been building an elite team so that I can attend a lot of home games and road games in 2029.
January 23rd, 2020 at 3:31 PM ^
How long is the waiting list for season tickets? When I was a student, I had student tickets then I got the option, which I took for season tickets in '85-'89, then I stopped since my job moved me to Oklahoma. I've only been able to go to one home or away game each year since 1990 (been out of state that long). So, if I want season tickets starting in 2029 season (my first season in retirement) what year should I apply to get on the waiting list for season tickets?
January 23rd, 2020 at 4:55 PM ^
Waiting list is basically non-existent. The only year there were significant numbers of people not given tickets was 2017 coming off a great 2016 with MSU and OSU at home. If you apply with the minimum number of points this year I think you'll get them.
https://mgoblue.com/sports/2017/6/16/tickets-fbl-season-html.aspx
Also, make sure you apply for the number of tickets you will actually want at that point as a new season ticket holder. It is much harder to expand your holdings once you are a returning purchaser.
January 23rd, 2020 at 3:10 PM ^
The non-OSU and MSU home years look bad at first look, always. Wisconsin (can we stop playing them?), Penn State, and Nebraska is fairly decent. Indiana won 8 games this year and who knows what'll happen with Maryland at that point in time.
No reason to schedule any more difficult opponents the way the CFP is currently setup. I would imagine that the Texas buyout number is huge and not worth it.
January 23rd, 2020 at 4:16 PM ^
In reality, college football is about brand names. No matter how "decent" Indiana is, playing Rutgers and Maryland prevents games against the likes of Iowa or Minnesota, which would help this schedule optically.
January 23rd, 2020 at 10:24 PM ^
Playing Rutgers and Maryland every season from now until eternity.....The legacy of Jim Delaney.
January 23rd, 2020 at 3:26 PM ^
Still waiting for the P5 UCLA replacement in 2022 & 2023...
January 23rd, 2020 at 3:30 PM ^
UCLA does not have the same clout anymore. It's like scheduling Oregon St. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
January 23rd, 2020 at 3:36 PM ^
LOL, UCLA is not a scary team and the replacement could be tougher, like re-scheduling Army again.
January 23rd, 2020 at 4:00 PM ^
Lololololol at Texas. Sure, why not make things as hard as possible on ourselves? Also do we have to play Wisconsin every year forever? What is going on with that?
