mgoblog and CDN's

The only thing more frustrating than our last several losses has been the inability to reach mgoblog immediately afterwards to complain and commiserate with our fellow keyboard warriors.  Seems like it might be time for this site to use a CDN.  I realize they can be expensive.  But the loss in ad revenue during the highest traffic times has to offset this, no?

That's a family of 11 people, so it's not outlandish. Roughly one gallon per family member per week, for everything from a glass of milk with a PBJ sandwich to a bowl of cereal to the milk you use to make mac & cheese. My family of 6 used to use that much, easily, before I had to give up most of my carb sources. Hit the "free milk" slot on the Kwik Trip milk card with some frequency.

The fact is that different families have different needs and practices; that doesn't necessarily make them bad; and it's not really that difficult to not point and laugh at people whose needs are different than ours.

i for one will stand with my bovine friends no matter what country they are from, however, despite my repeated questioning these avatar guys have given no assistance whatsoever to the '404 error not found' problem.  i may withhold feed later today to see if i can force a solution.  will get back to you all later.

He's going to be fine

You can see that he's hesitating right now. You can also see he understands how to play the game of basketball and is going to be a good facilitator. Probably also going to be a plus defender although I could have kicked him for the way he kept playing off of Curry tonight

I honestly think Brian should have gone with his original thought after the site rework.  Disable the board and put out the content we love at its regular pace.  But since we’re telling him how to run his business we should also pressure the MgoStaff to bring back Draftadon!  ‘Cause that’s what the people want…or something…RABBLE!

/sigh…gotta love autocorrect…and Seth for calling me out.  Meant Draftegeddon but I’m leaving Draftadon.  He seems like he’d be a fun dude.

Content Delivery Network, like Cloudflare or Akamai.  As a site intermediary, a CDN caches content on geographically distributed servers to reduce both latency and web server load.

When MGoBlog goes down, though, it's usually because the message board is on fire.  It's difficult to cache that stuff.  IIRC, MGoBlog already uses Cloudflare, anyway.

The solution to all that PUT/POST traffic might be to migrate the site itself to a distributed network like AWS or Azure, but any solution engineer worth their salt would need to see traffic details to say if the downsides are worth it.
