META: Why no comments in the front page game column?
I really wanted to LOL at Sparty with my MGoHomeboys.
Especially for things like this:
loss against Rutgers that caused Graham Couch to post a video titled "Michigan State football's epic collapse at Rutgers continues the season from hell" that is, hilariously, on the Detroit Free Press channel.
That was posted by an MSU "journalist".

Brian practically gave us a UFR in the game column and you're worried about comments?
October 16th, 2023 at 6:47 PM ^
I am always worried about comments. I'm here for ALL the comments, baby.
No... Content, I am here for the content, that's what I meant to say.

I dunno, but another Honorable Mention for Epic Double Bird of the Week would be JJ getting hit hard on his last snap. I didn't care for that one bit.
October 16th, 2023 at 8:29 PM ^
I'm starting to think that JJ knows when he's about to get pulled, so on his last series, he plays a little loose trying to make something. Seems like he's pretty cautious most of the game, and then towards the end he puts his shoulders down and takes contact or takes a dive

I have a lot of points. Are you guys impressed?
October 16th, 2023 at 6:55 PM ^
i'd be more impressed if you shared them. otherwise, it's pointless.

I saw a T-shirt yesterday that said, “Bad puns are how eye roll.”
October 16th, 2023 at 8:33 PM ^
wait where did i see you!?!?!?

Not really, MeanJoe. Not really.

Nope.

The msu beat writers aren’t even wearing State gear to the games anymore. Tough times in east lansing.

Lot of crying going on in the Spartan Stadium press box.

The answer to this question is that comments enabled / disabled is a field on main board posts, and Brian accidentally left them off. A moderator will turn them on whenever one notices.
Not sure how helpful that was, but that's the answer. :)

I wanted to point and laugh at Iowa's EPA/play. They managed to make Punting Is Winning true. It's perfect.
October 16th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
The stat of Iowa being 10-1 where Tory Taylor punts 8 times or more is just absurd.

Give him the Heisman now, it's art

I'm a little lost on the LOL regarding Couch, both from the OP and Brian.
I mean, as far as the title goes, yeah it's funny in a schadenfreude way. But it seems like a perfectly reasonable and accurate title. But why is it hilarious that it's on the Free Press channel? Free Press, like Lansing State Journal, is a Gannett owned paper. The other person on the video is the Free Press' MSU beat writer Chris Solari. This is the least funny thing ever.
Also, I don't know why we're putting "journalist" in quotes. Couch, in particular, is a columnist. Solari, like everyone in media, is attempting to be a talking head. They're doing commentary on a YouTube video. I didn't watch the video, not going to, but them calling it the season from hell and an epic collapse seems entirely appropriate.
October 16th, 2023 at 7:16 PM ^
The fact that a statement that might seem hyperbolic is appropriate is why it's hilarious.
October 16th, 2023 at 7:25 PM ^
And as I said, that part was funny. But it being on the Free Press channel, not funny. And them being journalists, also not funny. Both things that other people said were funny.
October 16th, 2023 at 7:33 PM ^
Because the Freep is very pro MSU. So for them to admit how bad they are with no attempt at sugar coating it is satisfying to laugh at. The Freep is also not allowed on this site because of their terrible journalism. So he's putting it in quotes to express that he considered them so inferior that they barely really journalists.
October 16th, 2023 at 10:54 PM ^
The Freep being "pro-MSU" shows your ignorance. Michigan gets twice the coverage, most of it glowing, and yet you're still claiming bias. God, lazy thinking like this is maddening.

Came here to say that Colson also had a chance to hit the IU wideout as he was passing the ball on that trick play if he had continued at full speed. But he just inexplicably (to me) slowed to nearly a stop when the guy sort of double-clutched and took a step to throw it.
October 16th, 2023 at 7:28 PM ^
I expected Tyler Morris to be awarded at least one point. Back to back receptions in the second quarter plus the punt return played a big role in taking the game from 7-7 to 21-7.

Brian's forgotten how to Internet.
October 16th, 2023 at 7:56 PM ^
the real answer is Brian just forgot to click the box to turn comments on. I have gone in and ticked it so you can comment now

Why can't HUEL make it the default setting?
No reply necessary. Just a thought.
October 16th, 2023 at 8:03 PM ^
MGoBlog probably isn't the best place for comments to be set to "On" by default, at least not all the time anyway. Experience on this one.

Because of bad NIL
Because of Warde Manuel
You know, the usual stuff.
