MBB Pursuing 6-9 Memphis Transfer Malcolm Dandridge
There are reports that Michigan is hotly pursuing Memphis transfer Malcolm Dandridge, a 6-9 defensive specialist who has one year of eligibility remaining. His offensive stats are nothing to get excited about: He only averaged 5.7 PPG last year (he was out for a good chunk with an injury) and has never attempted a three-pointer in his four-year college career. But he's apparently pretty good on the defensive end. Looks like he would be a spot player at most.
In other basketball news, WVU's Jose Perez is visiting on July 28-30, but Gonzaga is apparently heavily in the mix now.
Also, incoming Kansas freshman Marcus Adams Jr., a four-star recruit, is leaving the program. No word on whether Michigan has interest.
Ahhh, so Marcus Adams is the "player to be named later" in the Hunter transfer to Kansas.
Who is the "Hunter" guy you speak of?
The short-sighted guy who gave up being a full-scale Michigan man for life, and all the benefits that come with that, for an extra $25k or so in his final collegiate season
He doesn't score very much, but I'll be Dandridge if he is doesn't try hard
Profile sounds a lot like freshman Tarris: muscular, athletic, rim-protecting, turnover-prone big with defensive versatility and offensive limitations, who improved FT % enough to stay on the floor.
Yeah, shooting 72% from the FT line definitely was an uptick from his sub-50% rate up to that point. Could be a nice bench guy.
Agreed. If Dandridge came here and gave us what Tarris did last year, that would be a plus player.
Guarantee that michigan has interest in Adam's. Not sure if he has interest in UM.
Michigan MBB roster management has been an absolute failure and Juwan is clearly over his skis. This upcoming season is going to be an embarrassment - strap yourself in.
Maybe the heat waves and climate migration can get us back to contending annually by 2030.
You've got the least MGoPoints of anyone I've ever seen on this board. Congratulations! -9996123 is.....some kind of an achievement.
But if he can pull off that camping trip.... he'll totally redeem himself!!!!
Now I'm curious about his post history. That's a whole career of bad takes.
is there a proctologist among us? We have a flaming asshole on this thread…
l believe he's more of a perimeter player... Not much of a back to the basket game. Get that guy off this board!
See, I think not filling a roster spot would be an absolute failure of roster management but then again I don't owe Seth and Brian nearly 10M MGoPoints so who am I to talk?
Juwan looks like he's scrambling to put a roster together. Feels like he's coaching on the "island of misfit toys."
Juwan looks like he's scrambling to put a roster together. ...

It looks like Mark Few is scrambling to put together a roster.
Oh? Is Mark Few pursuing the kid from Memphis who can't shoot?
He looks like a solid backup C. And if you look at our roster, we don’t have one. So how would this be a recruitment to mock? Guy averages 10 boards and 2.5 blocks per 40. Asking him to play 10-15 a game and a few more if Reed is in foul trouble sounds like the perfect role for him.
I mean the comment was comparing the roster to the island of misfit toys which is frankly spot on.
This guy is literally just a body to throw out there.
We don’t even have “just a body” as a backup C. Right now, a combo of Will T, Olivier, and Tray Jackson are the backup 5s. Two of them would be pretty poor at the position and Olivier can be a a solid small ball 5, but you don’t want him playing too many minutes there overall.
He is a solid defender. Offense leaves alot to be desired but I think he’s definitely someone that isn’t going to cost you the game during his minutes. Being against this is just absolutely silly.
Well, I havent said I'm against adding the kid so you're sort of arguing with nobody. It does speak to the general state of the program when this kid is a take, though. I don't feel like that is a hot take. Five years ago this kid isn't sniffing an offer from the men's basketball program.
5 years ago, the portal didn’t exist as it did and we had a different coach with a different system. He’d be a solid add. Depth is not a bad thing. You said he’s just a body, which is far from being the reality.
you say yourself, he's a depth add. which is the same as being just a body.
this board just doesn't tolerate anyone not being effusive about every little thing Juwan does with the program, to the point where if I say i'm not excited about adding a guy who couldn't see time at Memphis I'm being irrational.
it doesn't really matter because this team is going to be horrible, and if Juwan stays beyond this year he won't be leaving on his own terms.
They have an open roster spot. It would be stupid to not use it
If our team is wearing street clothes this year, we would have no idea it's our team.
Juwan sure does love his PFs who can’t shoot
Also PGs, SGs, Cs, and SFs who can't shoot.
I’d be surprised if he played anything other than the 5 unless we had a rash of injuries.
I think Davis Moseley (formerly worked at Rivals and 247) has been on the bleeding edge of a lot of this info.
Moseley has also said there may be a hold up with our pursuit of Dandridge (sounds like some sort of off-court thing). And, the issue with Perez is supposedly that he wants more NIL $ than we're willing to pay.
Moseley does say we are interested in Adams.
He has also hinted at Michigan being interested in an unnamed 2024 recruit who is looking to reclassify to 2023 as well as 2023 Israeli wing Ofri Naveh.
The unnamed 2024 recruit who is looking to reclassify to 2023 was likely Adams, as he recently did reclassify.
I had totally missed that. Thank you
We need a wing badly, I'm willing to chip in $50 for Perez's NIL deal...Who is with me?
seee. there's a reason we don't start practice until after July 1. We're still putting our squad together. DUH Hunter.
We need guards not PF who can’t score
What good is a guard who can't score?
We need both.
We don't have depth at PF or C positions.
Looking forward to the Adams podcast, wherever he ends up, where he complains about Kansas people being fake nice.
The shift towards athleticism is quite clear and it wouldn't surprise me to see them try to be more uptempo this year, especially with a PG that's in year 2 of the offense (finally).
If that's the case, premium will be on a couple trailers that can hit daggers, everyone else crashes the boards, and everyone gets back on D.
The only player we should/are pursuing in the portal is a shooter--a 2 or a 3. And im guessing that is exactl what is occurring.
Dandridge looks like a solid PF off the bench who can spell TWill for a few minutes a half.
