MBB at Illinois Game Thread

Yeah, I shouldn't be watching either, but I know there are others out there who are looking for punishment on a Tuesday night too. The good news is it's on the Cock and 10 total people will be watching.

We’re just a couple of stops and a couple of made three away from being a couple of stops and a couple of made three away from being a couple of stops and a couple of made three away from making it a game…LFG!!!

This team is awful and definitely need some changes in the coaching staff. But if Michigan doesn’t change the way they allow whoever coaches to build their team, there is going to be a low ceiling for the program. Unless they find another Beilein which is highly unlikely.

There are plenty of coaches out there that can build a functional roster, foster a culture where they compete on the court and in the classroom and at least look as if they understand the basic fundamentals of basketball. Look at the talent Calipari gets and wastes because he isn’t a good coach. Juwan was worth the risk due to the importance of the Fab 5 and when John left late in the cycle but he’s just not a head coach.

Any other program would have moved Martelli to interim coach by now.  Warde’s mediocrity on display.  Would not surprise if Juwan continues next year too.

Yet again, glad I didn’t waste time watching this stellar game. So much less anxiety when you just look up the gamecast and follow it if it’s reasonable and move on if it’s not.

Michigan needs a new coach. Tony Bennett from UVA would be the ideal choice. His brand of basketball might not be the most exciting, but he has won big at a university that has similar limitations as Michigan when it comes to admissions and transfers, and has limited NIL. Michigan would be a Final Four threat every 3-4 years under him and would be capable of sweet sixteen bids nearly every year.

Jay Wright would be a great candidate, too. I think he didn’t like the direction that college athletics is going with NIL, but he built balanced teams that had a good mix of solid Junior and Seniors that could get drafted late mixed with some first round talents who were Freshman and Sophomores. That model would work well at Michigan if NIL improves for basketball.

Gregg Popovich would be a terrific candidate. He's head coach and president of the Spurs, but this is Michigan, damn it. Leaders and Best! Warde's just gotta get off his lazy butt and call him!!

John Wooden would be the perfect candidate too. He's been retired for a bit, but we can probably entice him by firing the money cannon, but only if Warde will get off his lazy butt!!

These are the moments and results we as fans earn the right to be called true fans.

These last couple of losses were hard to watch. Need soap in my eyes.  Yikes.

Always awesome when a player (Shannon) that wanted to play for us just lights us up. Shit can’t get any worse right? I think we’ve hit rock bottom basketball wise. But I don’t think many care that much since we’re the reigning national champs!

What a terrible season. I grew up watching the fab five. Had the shoes when I played as a kid. Hoped it would work with Juwan. This program year, after year trends the wrong way. Just look at the defense. This isn't like Jim's bad year as an outlier. It's not getting better. It's getting steadily worse.

Why is a guy that's shooting 62% overall and damn near 60% from three getting 12 mins a game on a team with 8 wins? Who is the better option at this point? Why not run him and design some plays for Tschetter? Anyone have an answer why not? Is it his defense? We don't have a defense with him playing 12 mins. Any insight would be great.

Was busy doing other things, and tuned in late hoping Peacock would let me select an option to start from the beginning.  It went directly to live action. I saw the score was 69-41, saving me from wasting time watching this.  (I did rewind to watch the first 5 minutes or so of the game.)  I need to decide whether it is worth keeping the $1.99 per month Black Friday deal for Peacock to wait for football season or to just bail on it.

ole miss v uk is well played at the start.  SEC bball is peaking this year.   I will take ole miss to keep the rupp losing streak going.   Bilas is painful unless you mute and go to the subtitles.
