I got my undergrad degree from Michigan and had fun, now I want to go actually play some football before my career is over forever and I enter the real world. Not sure where Malzone's talent level is, but if he can't cut it at the FBS level, transferring down to a good FCS or DII school could be a fun 2 years
November 28th, 2017 at 10:49 AM ^
"Champions?" That term sounds vaguely familiar, but I can't place why.
November 28th, 2017 at 11:13 AM ^
I think it was a PJ Fleck quote from pretty recent.

Been over 10 years since those who stayed were champions. That quote starts to ring hollow after a while.

Sheesh, Tuebor, recently you've been as fun as a fart in a phone booth. Enjoy things a little. That's kinda the point.

Michigan had no reason to give him a scholarship. He is a walk on at best and he fit the bill. Can anyone explain why he was even offered. Is Harbaugh friends with his family or something because he never was going to play and I new it when he signed. Really hope were done with the charity cases because I really don't feel Michigan can just give scholarships to guys who are never going to contribute. We have walk ons for the scout team.
Pure waist of a athletic scholarship, well except for Malzone. I respect him for graduating but as far as contributing to Michigan football I am lost. Except for injury are there other scholarship athletes who never played and were never going to play.

If he graduated in the spring, would he get two years of eligibility at his new school? I know he redshirted in 2015.
November 28th, 2017 at 9:40 AM ^
yeah he'd get two and be eligible to play immediately
November 28th, 2017 at 10:02 AM ^
Are you sure of this? I've not seen a graduate transfer that has more than a year of eligibility.
November 28th, 2017 at 10:06 AM ^
November 28th, 2017 at 10:07 AM ^
You get 5 years to play 4. He will have graduated in 3, so with a RS year he has 2 left to play.
November 28th, 2017 at 10:13 AM ^
Isn't the rule 10 semesters of athletic eligibilty?
A player could play 4 years of football and one of baseball or hoops, etc.
So ya, 1 RS year or year in another sport.

There have been a few. Starting to happen more and more as guys figure out that avenue.
November 29th, 2017 at 12:48 AM ^
You have seen a grad transfer with 2 years of eligibility - the Center who transferred from Texas considered Michigan as a destination. He ended at Arkansas for 2 years after first failing to qualify academically at UCLA.

anyone is going out on a limb predicting Malzone will graduate transfer next year.
November 28th, 2017 at 10:05 AM ^
I have insider info from current students. He has been planning to transfer all year. He had been not been practicing with the team as a serious candidate for playing time until the other 2 QBs were injured.

November 28th, 2017 at 9:35 AM ^
He wasn't going to play here. He hasn't, so why would that happen moving forward with a stable full of Harbaugh recruits?
