Malzone transferring?

Submitted by poseidon7902 on

Buddy texted me saying he was transferring.  I don't see anything on his twitter or in the news.  Any truth to this?

I got my undergrad degree from Michigan and had fun, now I want to go actually play some football before my career is over forever and I enter the real world. Not sure where Malzone's talent level is, but if he can't cut it at the FBS level, transferring down to a good FCS or DII school could be a fun 2 years

Michigan had no reason to give him a scholarship. He is a walk  on at best and he fit the bill. Can anyone explain why he was even offered. Is Harbaugh friends with his family or something because he never was going to play and I new it when he signed. Really hope were done with the charity cases because I really don't feel Michigan can just give scholarships to guys who are never going to contribute. We have walk ons for the scout team.

Pure waist of a athletic scholarship, well except for Malzone. I respect him for graduating but as far as contributing to Michigan football I am lost. Except for injury are there other scholarship athletes who never played and were never going to play.

I think that is one of those things where nobody has Insider info and everybody is making an educated guess. The only person to report it is Spath, who tweeted that Malzone intends to graduate in spring and transfer. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened, based only on Spath is a credible guy.

When Pep got here, they asked him about the QBs. The short version is he said Speight, O'Korn and Peters looked good. What about Malzone? "He's working hard". That about says it. The coaches don't think he can play. I vaguely remember Malzone getting the first offer then Grant Perry was thrown the late seaon bone. I don't feel like looking it up.

Like everyone else has said, plenty of rumors about it already, some from credible sources. It also makes plenty of sense. He's fallen behind a younger guy in Peters, probably McCafferey too, and he couldn't beat out O'Korn despite his struggles. Writing is on the wall that he'll never play if he stays.

beyond that, he is in an ideal situation with an early graduation and the transfer rules. why burn another year of eligibility as the #3 guy when he can have 2 productive years as a starter somewhere else.
