This is a 3 minute interview Coach Carr about the similarities of his '97 team and this year's team on the 25th anniversary our last national championship. The end of the interview is very poignant and touching as Carr reflects back on his legacy, doing so with a great degree of humility and gratitude.

Too bad he shelved all of those qualities and threw a fit when he wasn’t allowed to hand pick his successor and torpedoed the program on his way out.

Fuck LLLLoyd Carr.

You do know that you are on a UM football message board and that said team just named the  tunnel for him and aided in his inclusion in the CFB HOF? Given your narrative why would the powers that be ignore the modern lynching and do this? I guess your unassailable view is based on more intimate knowledge then the entire organization you come here to support.

Wonder why RR told the Detroit Press that Lloyd called him to tell him about the opening and to look into it when RR said at the time he didn't even know him. Puzzling?

Lloyds arrogance handicapped this football program. I  appreciate what he did for this program. The National Championship was epic. But 8-4 every other year loaded with NFL All Pros?

If you did not bend the knee to him you did not matter and you were out. The Man building this program from those ashes now did not bend the knee. He took it and made it his own.

Lloyd is a consummate gentleman and good man. But that’s it.

Let’s be real.  Lloyds grandson is going to Notre Dame. Not Michigan where he had an offer…Notre Dame.

Did some of Lloyd's teams underachieve?  Yeah.  But he also won a national title, the only one at this school in the last 70 years.

As for his grandson, who knows if Lloyd had much influence or not on the decision, but I honestly can't blame a kid who grew up in the shadow of our campus for wanting to stake out his own legacy.

Lloyd's sagacious words are always welcome in my mind.  Glad he still pipes up once in a while.

On a side note, I kind of accidentally learned my high school won it's state championship this year.  I think my love of being a football fan goes back to being a kid in 1975 in valpo when the team won it's first championship running a single wing offense.  The coach Mr Stokes was my driver's ed guy and an unlikely football mastermind.  Valpo won IN 5A this year with a 9 and 3 record and that's about all I know about the team.  The 75 team went undefeated and won a 3A? title which was the top tier then on valpo's home field on a cold night.   We had a pair of QBs run the O.  Oliver was a better thrower but could run well.  Allen was an african american who was a better runner with a bigger arm and I think he returned a kick for a TD against the powerhouse Indy team (carmel or penn central?) that was supposed to maul us.  Valpo's white bread history was broken up at that time by a VU program that transplanted a few families from the projects in Chicago to valpo and hence Allen was on the team.  Happily I can report that at the same time I was MI fan at 9 years of age for no other reason than I liked the uni's, helmet, bo, and idea of the team up north.  If I remember right those were the rick leach years.

I grew up playing football with my mates at recess and that is probably why I love the game.  As a valpo kid also can say I always thought Undue Perversity sucked and IU was a fine party and hoop school.

Not too dissappointed at usc last night.  Utah just outplayed them.  The debate is down to OSU and BAMA.  Either way, bring it on.

While I am typing... As a long time world cup fan partial to the dutch in general, I will be happy if the US can take a big step today.  Ole.
