Khani Rooths decommits
I think Franz was originally a Beilein recruit who stuck with Juwan. Franz was also a legacy of sorts.
Nope - he was a target under Beilein but committed to Juwan.
Famously, Beilein quit the day before his official visit.
2004, was he on a mission for the last 4 years?
Last 20 years. He has been playing in the local y rec leagues so could be a fast transition to competing on this team.
was very unlikely to play at michigan anyway since he didn't sign early.
Would it have mattered if he did sign? Could just get released from his commitment or transfer bc of the coaching change anyway, right?
Absolutely not but the minute it was reported he wasn't signing early I never got my hopes up
He might come back. He will start right away now that Dug is gone. And he won't start right away anywhere else.
What?
Why would he start right away now that Dug is gone, they play different positions.
He would've potentially started anyway, but Dug leaving is likely part of why he is gone, since they were close.
Never heard of him. Couldn’t care less. Commitment to a coach is one of the dumbest things you can do. Wise up little boy.
Imagine calling an 18 yr old soin to be college athlete a little boy. What a goober comment, lol.
Damn, you must be so cool telling everyone how you never heard of the top recruit in the class. Such a badass to not care if he comes or not!
And yet here you are, blathering about how much you don't care. And calling a recruit "little boy".
Cool. Cool.
Looks like he's destined for ... Georgia? A team who finished 6-12 in the SEC. Cool. Cool.
Keep em coming, let's find rock bottom.
If that's the best he can do, then I'm not sure we'll miss him that much.

but he will have 3 benz
NIL better be getting ready to cut some checks for transfers, or the next coach will be holding tryouts from the general student population in September.
Do we needs some scouting reports from [edit] intramurals?

lol admissions shits on stanford credits all we can get are 12 grad transfers
Trying to imagine what this team would look like with Hunter Dickinson, Caleb Love, Terrance Shannon, Dug McDaniel. Obviously that's a fantasy, but still...gotta imagine that's a pretty good team.
Are we sure it's a good team?
One of my favorite sets.. hit the post for a backdown iso and then stand around pic.twitter.com/H8cmprtJEr

Good point. "Assembly of talent" is a better descriptor.
What the F@#$ was Tschetter doing on that "play"! Standing out of bounds and bringing your defender over to effectively double Reed in the process??? Honestly...that's not even bad coaching. That's just a very low basketball IQ.

i was told all fall a team of mercenaries doesnt work....
This feels like a Rooth canal
New coach is gonna need to bring in 4-5 transfers just to field a team.
More like 8-10
It is a perfect opportunity to see if someone can build an entire team of experienced mid-major players from the portal. Could be an interesting selling point in this day and age.
Why even go after five-stars and borderline four-stars who are seeking some cash before the NBA comes calling in a year or two? You can't team-build with those guys.
This isn't a "good riddance" post for Rooths. Just a thought that maybe the next coaching hire needs to be someone who sees this situation as an opportunity to thoroughly examine the portal and build something rather than just grab the best pieces he can. The landscape is so thoroughly different in this age of transition.
Minnesota had 9-10 players transfer out before last year's season. They won 9 games and tied for last in the conference, which is a smidge better than our season this year lol

mid major credits wont transfer
they dont even think stanford credits are worthy
Class of 2004…that is one committed Mormon mission.
Phat Phat & Anderson may stay on, but this roster will be completely different next season so this will continue
I was thinking Anderson was from Georgia so he could always go there with Rooths if that’s where he ends up. Anderson was the one I was really excited about seeing here, despite the coaching.
Get the hire right and then worry about the roster. It is going to be brutal next year, regardless.
Then you can start to try to climb out of the massive hole the program is in.
Next year will be a good year for anyone who hasn't seen a home game to do so. Tickets will be plentiful and cheap, lol.
The posts just keep getting worse around here, and I’m not talking about the subject matter. Six words, 1 major error, 0 links, no background and a missing period.
OP, have some respect for yourself and others.
I mean, no surprise. Guys aren't going to stick around for unknowns when they have options.
Next year’s team will not be anyway like this team. New coach will bring his style of players and philosophy. Roster turnover will be the norm from now on. Can’t get any worse than what we saw on the court this year.
SUPrise, SUPrise, SUPrise
We are going to be terrible next year no matter who coaches. We don’t spend the money to catch up and make a makeshift recruiting class and we aren’t good at taking in transfers…. We might be the worst team in the history of the program next year.
i also feel bad for guys like Saddi who could have been head coaches in prior years and that ship has probably sailed.

Imagine being a college P5 program who has standards above Northwestern and Vanderbilt and will only allow your admissions program to get you guys who are grad transfers in an era all other programs are paying players to leave as freshmen & sophomores.
Once a coach really kicks the tires on how UM runs things vs other P5s its laughable to come here in this new era of everyone is a free agent. I'm staying in the Big 12 with NBA players everywhere and get whomever you want when you want without your school bending you over.
You can only recruit HS players or grad transfers who are middling so didn't go to the NBA 2 years earlier here.
And yet guys here are calling for coach B to come back and deal with this laughable situation only the arrogance of Michigan's admissions put upon itself.

Hoke cooled on him???

rick Pitino? I hate him like I hate Pete carroll (too successful. against us). but... he got same treatment from NCAA as harbaugh got " you are responsible for things you have no control over". I bet he might come here... well except we have no effective NIL and our admissions sends top transfers to illinois and elsewhere... ??
