Going for broke Portaling is a hit or miss proposition much of the time. It can work but it can break you as well... I love OSU is on this road. Love love love it... They can't seem to accept losing to the number 1 ranked team on the road in a winnable game. If they want to burn it down over that have at it its not a good move just accept you have some long needed competition at the top of the Big Ten and more on its way!

I wonder if the players know something about Day. Pure speculation, but maybe he is going to try and go to the NFL? Just a thought that popped into my head. Anyways, I hope all this movement of players blows up in their face.

That’s my feeling. I don’t think he’d leave for another college team. But if he wants to go to the NFL again he needs to leave before his rep gets worse.

3 years ago he was highly prized but he’s lost a lot of shine and that would only get worse with another loss next year. So go now and don’t risk another loss to UM and/or losses to the new conference members. A few bad bounces and any of psu oregon uw usc osu or UM could have 3-4 losses.

But what is Day's path to the NFL? OSU may be a bunch of troglodytes but they're one of the big names in college football so it would look like a step back if he took an NFL offensive coordinator job (even though he would likely be quite good at). At the same time, if you're an NFL team right now, would you feel great throwing a bag at him to head coach your team?

I'll bury this question here so only those who invest time will be here and I won't get too negbanged if I'm being stupid...

I wonder if some of this isn't on Day passing the blame onto others? He refused to say McCord was the starter next year and it was an open contest. That's probably a partial truth at best, and just said for public consumption. It's not like Cade when JJ was there. Ohio doesn't have an obvious person who is going to push McCord. It is very, very, unlikely McCord wouldn't have started game 1 next year.

Just a guess on my part, but I think Day is truly worried about the criticism he is receiving, and his players sense he doesn't have their backs because he is more worried about his own.

Sharp contrast to JH when things were tough for him a few years back.

Am I reading this wrong?

Impossible to say. You're likely to get a lot of weird answers since you're on a Michigan fan board.

But I don't think the rash of people hitting the portal today are that big of a loss for them. They have the most talented WR room in America. They have highly though of QBs behind McCord and more on the horizon. Miyan Williams was a quality back but not really a game changer.

This looks like typical portal era movement from a team with a ton of talent. Does it hurt them? Possibly. Is it a sinking ship like we Michigan fans hope? No probably not.

He was always pretty underwhelming. Only 270 yards this year.

I doubt they skip a beat in their WR room due to this. They have a ton of young talent coming up and Fleming was very meh outside his blocking

Wouldn't be surprised if the Buckeyes are replacing basically their entire corps or skill players. Harrison to the draft for sure, possible Egbuka, Henderson, and Stover to the draft. Xavier Johnson out of eligibility. I bet Stover stays but that's a lot to backfill.

just saw McCord also entered the portal, but most Bucks are probably glad to see him move on. It will be interesting to see what Day goes with: someone already on the team, the incoming Frosh Air Noland or the portal.

I find it hard to interpret all of these OSU players hitting the portal as meaning anything other than some kind of program meltdown. It may be direct (Day telling them they won't be playing as much next season) or indirect (leadership/culture is cracking in the wake of losing to us 3 years in a row and guys are escaping the chaos of what feels like a sinking ship).

Not a good look and not a good result. It's boom or total bust for them next season.

Team chemistry matters. Trying to rebuild your team as it looks like OSU is doing has a good chance of not suggesting than succeeding, imo. And let's hope next year's OSU team is turns out to be a huge dumpster fire where Michigan, once again, destroys OSU in Columbus

Always seemed like a great teammate. Crazy to think he was a more touted recruit than all of Olave, Wilson, JSN, MHJ, and Egbuka. Injuries and just never getting back to peak caused him to continuously be passed over. Seemed to have carved a role out this year.

I'd take a player like him in a heartbeat.

There are a couple good receivers in the portal from OSU.  Would love to have either Brown or Flemming join Michigan when they lose Johnson and Wilson to the draft, and Cristian Dixon to the portal.

that 3rd down catch he had against us before the half near their goalline - to me - kept the game from getting out of hand. I thought that a stop there, and a shorter field could put us up big going into half with the ball after half.

Instead he made that great diving catch and they marched down... missed the FG, but took up the remainder of the half

I believe he was the third highest graded player in his recruitment class - above Harrison jr. and Egbuka. (what a crazy hall of receivers)

Kind of surprised to see him go because he would probably be the #1 guy next year.

I do know, like McCord, he got vilified by OSU fans.

He's tall, fast and blocks. Would be great addition to any team.

Maybe we get McCord and Fleming and bludgeon OSU with their own stick.
