Jukes youtube channel: Michigan Is More Deserving Of The #1 Spot

Submitted by mblueaugust on December 10th, 2021 at 10:09 PM

I discovered this channel a few weeks ago.  It is an Iowa fan and a Texas fan and they talk about football (college and pro).  They are a fun listen and I think they make better observations than most of the sports talking heads I have seen.

Lucy is a diehard Iowa fan so she talks about the B1G a lot which is nice.

In this video they discuss whether Michigan should be the #1 seed compared to Alabama (spoiler alert:  Yes) and they talk about the Heisman award.

If you do check out the video, please don't trash talk Iowa (or Texas).  That loss is still pretty fresh for those fans and they never disrespected us like the OSU players stomping on our jerseys, etc.

Check them out and give them a like.

Sure, but some ultimate players also use the term "frisbee" along with "disc" as it largely still does describe the generic object.  Discraft is probably likely to care more about people using the term "Frisbee" than Wham-O, since it's a competitor's product.  At least that's the opinion of this (admittedly old) ultimate player.

I"m trying to think if there are any brands that came up with a proprietary name for their product who then let other companies use that name. For example, Kleenex. No one uses the word "tissue," they say, "Can you hand me a Kleenex?" even if it's a Puffs or some generic brand. But I can't imagine Kleenex would let other brands use the word.

Guess what?  Those of us who are OG Ultimate or Golf players still call it Ultimate Frisbee or Frisbee Golf.  There were no discs only frisbees.  Back in the 70's we had an 18 hole course laid out around the Arb and would sneak into the big house to throw frisbees.  (80 yards was my best).

The use of these special designed and built discs of all sizes and densities is for poseurs.  Give me a 175 gm original and I'll beat any of you.

Wow, obviously I've had enough coffee this morning.

B1G West is so chill, Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota definitely deserve nothing but respect when we play them. It's just the B1G East that makes me want to leave the conference altogether.

This is kind of by default though, right? For example, Wisky fans and alums probably despise Minny and Iowa based on regional and divisional rivalries and vice versa. Besides some hype around the badgers at the start of the year, none of these teams were really a threat to teams in the B1G East. I relate it to sometimes having better relationships with your cousins than your own siblings in that you don’t see them that often creating less interactions that could piss you off. Trust me, if we played them more often, you’d eventually start to develop a real dislike for them.

I cannot believe anybody considers even the remotest possibility of leaving the Big 10.

Look at Nebraska— the creation of the Big 12 hurt a bit, but leaving that conference destroyed them.

where would Michigan go? The only halfway possible option would be the ACC. Like that, do ya?

Michigan will never contemplate leaving; indeed Michigan is the reason Notre Dame is not in and UM didn’t want MSU in. They’ve tried their best to orchestrate it to their liking at times.

and NO one is going to kiss CIC money goodbye because the fans get pissed off at referees all the time.

TF are you on about? Michigan is the reason ND is not in? ND is the reason ND is not in, if they wanted in they would be in.

We're not leaving the B1G but Michigan would be fine as an independent if we left. CIC money is not a real thing, research grant $$ at UM would not change if they left the CIC or conference.

Nice to get some national love. We're the #1 team according to reason. Rankings don't really matter once you're in the playoff, though. I think we're the better team all around this year, and that should prove out on the field instead of in the AP. Just win, baby.

Lucy's partner must only watch Texas FB. Will Anderson is an LB, not a DE. They play two totally different positions. Also, there were Heisman whispers for Hutchinson before the PSU game.

Whatever. Lucy rocks!

Uh.... Isn't Hutchinson an OLB in this D? Also don't these types of players usually get lumped into EDGE these days? I honestly haven't watched much Bama because I don't have time to watch closely enough with the volume off.

Edit: just watched 20s of Will Anderson highlights and he has hands in the ground plenty. PFF likes Hutch better so I don't care.

Meh. Michigan is in a position where it can end the season there anyway. Granted it will suck to have to go through two SEC teams to get there, but if Michigan somehow pulls it off, there will be no disputing from anyone anywhere, even to the folks down in Columbus, that they wouldn’t have more than earned it.

The woman is pretty level headed and logical. I don't say that because she's complimentary of Michigan either. Her takes are valid even when I disagree. The dude is a bit of a clown but doesn't seem mean natured. He just has zero idea what he's talking about wrt Michigan and the B1G Conference in general.

Not something I'd watch beyond this clip, to be honest. She could find a career talking football though! I'll say that. The guy is just every generic, homer fan you meet that has a hot take to give.

This is my take, too.  We were going to play Georgia first no matter our ranking.  In that case, I would rather be under-ranked and prove everyone wrong.

Win out against Georgia and Alabama/ Cincinnati and nobody can say it was a fluke or we had an easy road.

Michigan vs Everybody! (and I like those odds)

I consider our ranking really quite unimportant. I remember all the talk about how there should have been a rematch in 2006 only for us to crap the bed vs USC in the Rose Bowl. None of that stuff matters when you can't deliver on the field..
