Come back Nico!
September 18th, 2020 at 8:09 PM ^
He’ll be back. His tweet saying that he was staying back in January was very polished and thoughtful. If he was leaving, he would have posted a similarly polished and thoughtful message. His silence is a good sign.
September 18th, 2020 at 8:59 PM ^
+1 for the rose-tinted reading of the tea leaves.
September 18th, 2020 at 3:49 PM ^
Bring em all back!
September 18th, 2020 at 3:49 PM ^
Have to imagine Gattis and Harbaugh have been in talks with Nico and that it's leaning positively for Gattis to do something like this...we'll see *fingers crossed*
Edit: Brad Hawkins just tweeted the same thing, but for Ambry Thomas..
September 18th, 2020 at 4:00 PM ^
I really feel this is our most important person to get back (in terms of the OSU matchup)
September 18th, 2020 at 4:18 PM ^
Unless Nico is gonna play both ways it has very little affect on a game where your opponent has threatened to hang 100 on you. I still want me some big Nico though.
September 18th, 2020 at 4:27 PM ^
Perhaps we can hang 110 on them with Nico!
September 18th, 2020 at 5:21 PM ^
Wow, M 110, OSU 100. Just about impossible, I suppose, but fun to imagine.
September 18th, 2020 at 5:28 PM ^
My buddy got 100 hung on him in a Madden tournament about 15 years ago. Most impressive.
September 18th, 2020 at 4:48 PM ^
Well...if Nico is helping the offense stay on the field and taking the OSU offense out of their rhythm while also putting pints for the good guys on the board, that should help keep the score against under 100 too
September 18th, 2020 at 7:24 PM ^
Never say no to pints for the good guys
September 18th, 2020 at 4:24 PM ^
Ambry is far more important to get back in terms of the OSU matchup. Right now, Fields has a slew of guys to throw to who are all going to be playing on Sundays before too long, and a Michigan secondary that outside of Dax, has a lot of guys who are really just guys, or who are a year or two away (Andre Seldon for instance) from being impactful contributors.
Getting Nico back would certainly be helpful, but he cant help this defense. In any case, you could get Ambry back and I don't think that changes the final result against those guys. We're still going to lose.
September 18th, 2020 at 4:43 PM ^
Ambry is important but he is just one guy. Reality is 2 yrs in a row the DT position has been destroyed and keeping OSU in unpredictable playcalling. Easy to call a game when a simple dive is a big offensive play.
September 18th, 2020 at 5:02 PM ^
Doesn't matter if the corners can't cover. DT's need time to get home.

September 18th, 2020 at 5:15 PM ^
Does Big Mo have any eligibility left? Can he take a one week sabbatical from the Raiders sometime around Thanksgiving weekend?
September 18th, 2020 at 5:31 PM ^
We will someway somehow beat OSU this season, because we are only meant to have good things when the opposition can say “the win wasn’t a real win”.
September 18th, 2020 at 6:00 PM ^
I'll take one of those there "the win wasn't a real win" at this point. In fact, I'll take it every fucking week. Never apologize for a win. EVERRRRRR.
September 18th, 2020 at 6:08 PM ^
• Appeared in all 13 games with one start at defensive back and also contributed on special teams; made 20 tackles with 1.5 for loss and five pass breakups to earn his second varsity letter
This is the production Zordich got from the #700 ranked recruit in '18.
And we have 4 inside the top 400 from '19 and '20.
He may not recruit the best but his development has earned some faith.
September 18th, 2020 at 6:24 PM ^
This has long been a known fact. Zoe such is a ghost on the recruiting trail, but he knows how to coach the position. The issue is, as stated frequently, you can teach technique and coverage skill, but you can’t teach speed or athleticism. Even if you have sound technique and guys playing their roles appropriately, a corner who runs a 4.6 is going to get toasted by a wideout who is a burner and can leap. This is part of the reason Brandon Watson was a great 3rd choice at CB or guys like that make a great Nickel, but are only moderately functional as an every down corner. They can play against the middling teams in the Big Ten, but when you get to these teams that have threats at all skill positions, the thin-ness of the position group gets exposed.
September 18th, 2020 at 8:41 PM ^
I understand what your saying but technique is what is important for the first seconds of a play to not get beat, than if your Dline can move the QB you deny the receivers time for separation.
While it will be great when we have Seldon, Will Johnson, Domani Jackson and Jalen Gould back there with Quinten and Makari, I'd rather be able to pressure the QB, which we should be able to do this year with the talent on the Dline.
September 18th, 2020 at 9:45 PM ^
Guess someone likes the crappy Dline from the last two years.
September 19th, 2020 at 2:06 AM ^
Hutchinson and Paye should be solid on the ends, just a matter of getting either Hinton or Smith to deliver on their talent and that starting d-line becomes pretty good
September 19th, 2020 at 7:25 AM ^
Therein lies the problem against OSU. They have so much speed at wideout that we’re shackled from the time we take the field. The only way we stand a chance is with an effective O that can keep them off the field. I do believe Milton will provide an element that OSU hasn’t defended well in the past. At least I hope.

It’s Happening!
September 18th, 2020 at 3:54 PM ^
Never say never, especially in 2020-meaning Nico can come back if he wants to. Think positive and Go Blue!
September 18th, 2020 at 3:55 PM ^
Hard to imagine Nico would be losing anything by coming back. There's the risk of getting injured but then why announce that he is coming back for a senior season last winter? What is he going to be doing in October through December that is better for his stock than playing games?
September 18th, 2020 at 3:58 PM ^
Unless he is really turned away from Covid, there really is nothing different from playing these 9 games and having the season end at the same time that it would have had it been a regular season.
But it's ultimately up to him and it's hard to be mad either way. I selfishly just want to see a WR wearing #1 again.
September 18th, 2020 at 4:44 PM ^
Nico at worst is a 3rd or 4th round pick right now, but I think he could definitely play himself into being a 1st or 2nd round pick
September 18th, 2020 at 6:22 PM ^
McShay had him in the middle of the first round in his last mock draft. Maybe not every analyst feels the same way about Nico but if he plays and plays well he will likely lock himself into the first round on every mock draft, not just a few of them.

Throw
the ball
to Nico.
September 18th, 2020 at 4:01 PM ^
This is obviously great news. Having Nico back would be awesome too. But having Ambry back would meet our biggest need. Tis the season of hope!
September 18th, 2020 at 4:03 PM ^
Yeah, if at all possible, throw the ball to Nico, please. If at all possible, that is.
Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Michigan fans

LOL...I posted the same slogan (without the killer poster) before coming across this
September 18th, 2020 at 4:27 PM ^
Orange whip? Orange whip? Three Orange Whips.
September 18th, 2020 at 4:03 PM ^
I will join in the blind positive speculation - Friday keeps getting better!
September 18th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
This would be huge and would have to think Nico's either thinking about it or Gattis knows it's worth testing the waters.
September 18th, 2020 at 4:05 PM ^
Get some
September 18th, 2020 at 4:08 PM ^
It's your last chance to play for the greatest university in the world. Come on guys!
September 18th, 2020 at 4:09 PM ^
Hey Nico....we are putting the band back together!
