Josh Conerly Announcement April 8

Submitted by michengin87 on March 22nd, 2022 at 2:39 PM

Josh Conerly will finally announce Friday April 8th at 9PM ET ON CBS Sports HQ.  He's been spending the winter using his official visits elsewhere with the last one this weekend at USC.

The Crystal Balls of Sam Webb and Steve Lorenz are telling them UM.  It won't be until after the Spring game, but we'll know soon.

He's NOT committing to Michigan.

Sam Webb is the epitome of the proverbial Snake Oil Salesman, EVERYTHING that comes from him is contrived and premeditated to drive traffic to his site. He's rarely accurate and in this case he's consistent in that. By promoting this particular "con" he keeps readers believing there is chance so they continue going to his sites, clicking on his social media, lining his pockets. Its they way of the world today, and he's far from the worst, I'm still trying to find a single time Bruce Feldman has been accurate in one of his many prognostications, can't find a one.

Maybe a kid has done this already but if it were me I'd get a whole bunch of hats made, each one smaller than the rest and would slowly take them off one at a time.

"It's Michigan!"

"No wait, Oklahoma"

"Guess not, looks like it's USC!"

"Michigan again."

"Spoke to soon - looks to be Oregon"

"Wait is that another Oregon hat?"

"And Miichigan again for  3rd time."

Maybe put some on backwards, some with a random school logo that wasnt in his "Top 10" maybe even some of a school that didnt actually exist.

Tthat would be fun.

"The largest set of matryoshka dolls in the world is a 51-piece set hand-painted by Youlia Bereznitskaia of Russia, completed in 2003. The tallest doll in the set measures 53.97 centimetres (21.25 in); the smallest, 0.31 centimetres (0.12 in). Arranged side-by-side, the dolls span 3.41 metres (11 ft 2.25 in).[13]"

Those crystal balls will be flipping next week to somewhere else. I think UM has done everything they can and stayed in it but this has been trending elsewhere for a while. It’s be a huge surprise if he picks Michigan.

It would be one heckuva surprise if it's M.  Dunno who, if anyone, is feeding Sam info, but when was the last positive development we know about?  When he visited way back when?  Everything since then has made it seem like he's going to stay out west.

Not opposed to surprises, just not worth getting hopes up.

Would love to be pleasantly surprised, but it seems like this has been trending away from Michigan for a while. USC just seems like the sexy pick now with all the Lincoln Riley hysteria going on.

In any case, its his choice and his life. Hope he comes here, but if he doesn't, I'll wish him luck in any game that does not involve him lining up opposite a Michigan defense.

He's USC bound.  Even with the drought, the never ending wildfire season and oppressive Covid restrictions, SoCal is still SoCal

If he picks USC, I can't be mad. West coast kid picking a program that's probably going to get good in a hurry makes sense. He shouldn't pick them, but I get it

Webb spoke about Conerly again this morning and said a west coast dark horse rising to compete with USC is Oregon, who has a new OL coach who is supposed to be a dynamic recruiter.

As he's said many times before, Sam said the question of how important proximity is to his home region will be a major influence on where he goes.

Courtney Morgan moving to Washington's staff doesn't seem to have tilted the field toward Seattle.

Webb reiterated that Michigan is definitely in play, but listening between the lines, I don't get the sense that he feels Michigan is leading. That's my interpretation, not his statement.

It's interesting that OK, USC, OR, and Miami are among his choices. Riley used to be at OK and is now at USC. Cristobal used to be at OR, now he's at Miami. I suspect that if Riley was still at OK and Cristobal was still at OR that USC and Miami wouldn't be in the mix.

I think he stays on the west coast.
