Was always going to be a tough sell on his extra year of eligibility. One more question answered. I think we're one 4 transfering and another portal pickup away from being a pretty interesting team next year.

Surprisingly, Juwan has not had a team that was better on defense than offense. Other than his 2021-22 team which was much better on offense and pretty bad on defense, his teams have been very balanced.

Agree that with guys like Nimari Burnett and Tarris Reed, it should be a defense first team.  Should be interesting.  I just fear that Love is going to jack up 25 shots a game, 20 of which are horrible.  But Juwan has been really good on the offensive end so maybe he'll be smarter with shot selection.

NCAA probably fucked him for his last year.

What does that make the current scholarship situation? Is there another spot open for another transfer or two? Another quality wing and a backup center (or Hunter coming back) would be pretty nice

At the limit* currently. Baker’s waiver being approved has looked unlikely for weeks and Howard has been recruiting the portal accordingly.

* - this counts Kante in the class, despite rumors he won’t be admitted. Also assumes no transfers out and nobody currently on scholarship becomes a walk-on

Good for him.  He's obviously not going to play in the NBA but play ers like Joey can make a very nice living playing in one of the many overseas leagues out there.

Goodbye, au revoir, adios, arrivederci, verabschiedung, 再见再见 Joey and good luck!

So we are at the scholarship limit now unless Kante doesn't qualify as rumored, then we have 1 more spot.  Chance we stand pat even if Kante doesn't make it here.

I'm sure he'll have an opportunity to go play overseas, make some good money and have some great life experiences in the process. I truly envy guys like Derrick Walton who might not get paid exorbitant NBA contracts, but they still make great money to make a career out of essentially playing a game, and they get to see the world in the process. They are very lucky individuals, and those experiences of seeing life outside the US are so invaluable.

No ill will towards Baker. I'm sure he did his best while he was here and never cheated the team out of a day of hard work. Hope he succeeds wherever he goes.
