JJ sits down with Howard Griffith on BTN

Submitted by ldevon1 on December 2nd, 2022 at 8:16 AM

The first part of the video covers the ladies basketball team who played Miami last night in the B1G / ACC challenge. Naz Hilllmon is on working for BTN as an analyst this yr. JJ interview starts around the 4:46 mark. Also for any members that follow social media, Miami has the Cavender twins on there team. These girls are big on TikTok but the one sister is a pretty damn good basketball player.

His biggest attribute IMO being grounded..... 5* undeniable talent could easily have got caught up in the lights but says in the post game interview more work to be done.... Love it!

He played within the system and what is needed to win throughout the year. No hero ball. No pouting. Kind of like TB who will do what it takes to win a game by handing over the ball to RB 50 times if it will win a game. Not saying JJ is TB, but I see some similarities in their mental approach to the games. Hope JJ leaves here with the legacy he wants by winning a NC.

This right here. If you listen/watch MMQB with Sam and Devin, they've been saying all year that JJ has no ego he just wants to win and will do anything that he's asked to do to accomplish that goal.

All season long from my seat in Section 34, row B I've been saying that I don't know what "IT" is but whatever it is JJ has it.

Born Leader, fearless with an athletic skillset that's off the charts, Man the future is bright at the QB position at Michigan!

For the JJ believers like myself, I don't think he will ever truly hit what we hoped he would be at Michigan. I thought he was going to be a Trevor Lawrence type player. I don't think he is going to reach that, but won't be far off and will go down as one of the greats.

Truly seems like a great kid, like someone you'd want your daughter to date.

Trevor came out chucking the ball around. Harbaughs brought JJ along and he threw some confident passes last week. I look for more of the same moving forward so Donovan doesn’t have to take the carries that Blake did every game. All the sudden our O may be tougher to defend.

Someone posted BTN footage here of The Game with some sideline footage

After one of the deep bomb momentum swing TDs JJ came to the sideline and instead of excessive celebration, he told everyone to not get too high.  This was his way of keeping the team focused.  He is thinking and leading at a level beyond a 2nd year player.

My second favorite play of the game was when he ran through 3 or 4 Buckeyes on the first drive of 2nd half.  That set a tone.

He has all the tangibles and intangibles that we needed for our program.  Haven't had a QB like this in decades.

now if he could just hit the deep ball.

JJ- “ I want to be the greatest quarterback whoever came through here”. You’re on your way JJ. Beating OSU is part of a great legacy.
he is gaining confidence, beat OSU at the shoe, has played GA, and stayed on the field after that loss to see what it was like.
we don’t get to 11-0 this year without Corum. It is time to take this team over JJ!!!!!

In Devin Gardner's game review on the Michigan Insider.  He points out another wonderful intangible play that, to him, was the turning point on the game.

It was the 3rd down pass the series before the 1st TD.  For those who do not remember, JJ Taco Pants the pass over Bell's head (the one where Ronnie tries to jump, twist and the ball tips off his hands).  Right as the play is over, the camera is on JJ jogging of the field and it shows JJ going right up to Ronnie and pat him on the chest and talks to him.

Now, Devin is speculating here, but given that he was a QB he stated that JJ most like said something along the line of, "That's on me, my bad.  Don't worry, I'll get the next one."

Again, some speculation on Devin's part, but understanding JJ's mentality he is confidently hedging on what JJ stated, but certainly his leadership and mannerism showed there and proved to be true.

I got really nervous when I saw no eye-black on McCarthy when he came out for the opening series.  I was completely irrationally like "he forgot his eye-black, we are definitely losing."

Yeah well. I just wrote a very critical, scathing note to the B1G Show for the picture they have painted about Michigan. I believe it was last week when Howard was asked to list the top five B1G assistant coaches-and he did not include any Michigan coaches...and this sort of thing is the norm. They have said very little about the tunnel assault and when the have it has included the "balance" of Michigan's responsibilities here-just incredible. And while Josh Perry is a fine young man he, without exception, includes clear and pointed digs at Michigan in the middle of his "complimentary" comments while discussing Michigan performances.

Yeah, I like Perry and he's got a fun personality for TV and I don't even mind that he has some homer bias - we all do - but I remember an anecdote he had about Urban Meyer - basically, one time he, Meyer and another player had to go to some charity function and Meyer drove. (I've mentioned this before but can't find the link right now as I'm on mobile)

But basically, Meyer was driving the two players and going 100 mph and blowing through stop signs, as you do.  Perry was legit scared he was going to die and was like "Coach, maybe slow down?"  To which Urban replied, "Nah, it's fine - if I get pulled over, the cops see who I am and ask me for an autograph."

I understand that he probably still has a good relationship with his former coach, but c'mon - even leaving my OSU hate aside, it's a small miracle Urban didn't injury anyone with the way he drove.

I like the goal that JJ set for himself -- be the greatest Michigan QB in the history of the program.  That's a stretch goal for sure but it's measurable and attainable.

Oh and BTW, Autumn Johnson is quite easy on the eyes.

Honestly it’s not a stretch anymore. He did something no Michigan QB has done in literally decades…beat OSU in the shoe. And did so without his Heisman RB, putting up 4 TDs and near 300 yards passing.  We need to see more obviously…but that game felt like, to me, the start of the JJ era. Can’t wait to see more!

Women's hoops has three legit scorers (Kiser (!), Brown, Phelia) and some nice complimentary pieces.  Still turn it over too much which probably limits their ceiling, but if they clean that up might be solidly in the secondish tier nationally (below the South Carolina, Stanfords, UConns of the world)

I think Saturday is huge game for the offense. New norm with Corum out. JJ and receivers need to continue to gel. Need to be more balanced here on out with Corum out. Saturday was great. 2nd half of Illinois was iffy. Need to gain momentum this week for passing attack.
