Valenti is a piece of shit.

Listened to him talk after the game this year and literally, and I mean LITERALLY, everything he said in a 10 minute clip was factually incorrect or misleading.

He's the whole thing.  He's the biggest snowflake there is that has the nerve to call other people snowflakes.  He doesn't use twitter because he can't control the conversation there and he surrounded himself with "yes men" at 97.1.

But let him keep talking.  He does it long enough, he might find himself unemployed by saying something stupid on the air.

Valenti will criticize MSU, but he is such a butt-hurt disrespekt Sparty that he serially trolls Michigan whenever he can. I don't know how he holds an audience, because anybody who is a Michigan fan (presumably half his available listeners) cannot stand that idiot. There are others in local sports talk with ties to Michigan that at least try to maintain some objectivity, but Valenti cannot help himself. The inner Sparty is just too wounded.

I don’t think this or the other 13 “This person said this about MSU” threads needs its own. I vote for a MSU super thread and consolidate all of this shit.

I agree with her general point but I'm tired of this nonsense:

His origin story — the loyal guy from Iron Mountain who scraped and scrapped his way to becoming one of the best college basketball coaches ever — is often used as the exception that proves nice guys do indeed finish first sometimes.

Izzo landed an assistant's job at MSU when he was still in his 20s and has never left.  He was given the head coaching job there without any experience.

If you want to see a guy who actually "scraped and scrapped his way," that would be John Beilein.

The SUV........so disappointing how the program unraveled after that incident. I loved Steve Fisher and we should have never let him go or taken down the Final Four banners. What would it take to get the banners back up? No other school would do that.

a compliment.  She is an idiot.

This article was self serving.  She acted like this was a huge sacrifice, having to call out her close friend and fellow Spartan, Tom Izzo.  But she just wants her "Me Too" political moment, get clicks on an article with her name on it, and get on the side of the ESPN-MSU battle that is likely to prevail

I hope Izzo gets what coming to him - but screw her...

I read Jemele's piece and what I took from it is the second to last paragraph where she talks about them blocking the punt! you didn't block the punt you bitch, he dropped the ball I am so tired of hearing Spartans call it a blocked punt

At least she is attempting to be honest.

Jim Camporoni was on the radio today either blatantly lying or ignorantly spewing MSU garbage - I wouldn't by surprised with either.

For example, he said ESPN only has used 1 source - Lauren Allswede and used this to spin a narrative that no one violated ethics in the Hollis-Izzo-Dantonio Holy Triumvirate.

This is not true.  For example, ESPN obtained MSU internal memos, which showed that a female accused Walton and 2 basketball players of gang rape.  Hollis and Izzo both knew per the internal memo...ESPN asked MSU if this alleged rape was reported to the Title IX office and MSU gave a non-answer response about caring about safety but not always living up to their high standards...which is actually kind of admitting that it wasn't reported.

It is illegal for people in certain professions including ADs, coaches, and teachers not to report a rape accusation to the Title IX office.

If I personally failed to report an alleged rape, I would be fired and could have legal consequences.  I get training on this as a teacher, it is a known law.  The same is with Izzo and Hollis.

Well, the AG will have access to their emails and IT items soon. We’ll see why Hollis ran. Why Izzo looks like he’s seen a ghost and why Dantonio has to lie on live TV. If you want to believe there’s not a problem go ahead. In reality there is a problem and it’s been a problem for many years. It has to end now. From Walton to the guys who ran to Iowa State to what really happened with the football team. Soon people will see. It’s out of control and the culture has been aided by coaches who don’t except or punish athletes that are ruining lives.

Nothing in the OTL piece, other than innuendo, suggested to me that Izzo or Dantonio tried to cover up sexual assault.  I don't like their sports teams but the OTL article really struck me as a hit piece.  I refuse to jump on the 'Izzo and Dantonio need to be fired' bandwagon over an article that didn't really bring anything new to the table.

it's not a hit piece nor was it the smoking gun. OTL didn't call for their jobs. instead, much like Jamelle, the piece asks a lot of questions and points out inconsistencies and demonstrates a willful desire to obfuscate criminal activity. why? what did they know and when? Payne basically said Appling raped a woman who also said she was raped. what did Izzo know? did he talk to Payne? why wasn't there an investigation, why no suspension or punishment of any kind? MSU is not responding to those questions and it's starting to look really bad. I don't think many people are actually calling for their jobs (yet), they want transparent answers. The answers might turn into calls for their jobs but for now people demand clarity. that's not a hit.

Article comes off to me as a poor poor me 'What's a girl to do?" piece..I am an MSU Fan Girl who has a decades long close friendship with the face of MSU and my employer is leading the charge against him and many others at my beloved school.Lack of Journalistic ethics aside (no real journalist should get within 1000 miles of a hard news story involving a close friend other than to get them to go on the record),what brave stand is she taking exactly?  Saying Izzo should tell us what he knows isn't exactly the 'I'll go to jail before I reveal my sources' brave stand some are claiming.many of us regular folks raised an eyebrow in 2010 during the Appling-Payne episode that was mentioned by some national blogger types but not touched by the Izzo sychophants in the Detroit Media.Ms.Hill had a 'dear friend' who may have had some inside info, did she dig then? Apparently not.Perhaps she was conflicted then in another way?Spare me the Johnny -Come-Lately 'conflicted journalist' melodrama.More objective than V? That's a laughably low bar indeed.Beware of Journalists who try to improve their brand or make themselves part of the story.

After watching he speak on otl I gotta say I have more respect for her. Not all is known more MSU fans and alum should stop acting like Izzo and Dantonio did nothing wrong by not punishing guys that were accused of rape. I get no charges were brought. However, it seems clear that this is because the athletic department, EL police and even the DA's office clearly had a standard operating procedure of keeping them under wraps and away from the courtroom. Nevertheless, their fanbase is all over social media and forums claiming it's a witch Hunt because no charges were made, like the two coaches couldnt kick them off the team with out charges being brought, or at the very least suspended the players -- or in one case the coach. There is simply to much smoke to act like these coached handled things the right way. I am glad Hill had enough ethics and morals to say that it certainly appears izzo handled it the wrong way.

With everyone since she was almost canned and dropped on her ass. Trust me if this was a guy of non minority who said all those things he would have be fired already and crucified on the cross by everyone. That's why Espn is a pile of garbage these days. Let her, Steven A Smith and others run there mouth daily w no consequences at all.

She can't win with those who think the real problem with racism and sexism is that black female sportswriters and black quarterbacks keep bringing it up while they're trying to watch sports.  It's a good thing they don't see color or they'd be even more pissed I suppose.

She's on point here and I've always found her to be sharper and more thoughtful than your average sportscaster.  And it pains me to say something complimentary about an MSU grad.

I've seen her get unhinged about Michigan and Harbaugh, which is attributable to Little Brotheritis, but otherwise she's basically normal when I've caught bits and pieces of the show (I don't have ESPN, so this is limited to being on the treadmill at the gym).

People on MGoBlog just have Jemele Derangement Syndrome. It's about 80% groupthink and the other 20% is something worse.
