The issue with the stake is doing it before you lose.  If you wanna rip up the field like Devin Bush, back it up on the field.  If you stick a stake in the ground, you better win.

And no, I didn't like apologizing for it.  Hoke should have left it alone and let everyone forget it ever happened, rather than look weak for a stunt his players pulled.

When you make millions you need to perform. The U loves having a program pay for all the non contributing programs . Cut his salary and let other programs make it like real business works in America.

Nobody on this board played for Michigan and Jake Long is one big dude. Why don’t you tell him to his face that he is hurting the program. Players like him and Woodson are tired of how candy ass the program has become. They competed and beat good teams.

Jake Long never beat OSU and only won one bowl game if I remember correctly. He was part of the class that helped destroy Carr and he wasn’t even facing an OSU team near as talented as the ones Harbaugh has faced. I like Long, but he has no room to talk. Long’s career winning percentage at Michigan was .717. Harbaugh is at .723 and looks to raise that next year even if they finish 10-3. Wrong dude to be calling out Harbaugh. His class was probably the most underachieving at Michigan in history.

Exactly. And judging from the majority of opinions expressed here. We firmly intend to stay that way. Our self righteous arrogance and childish insistence on “winning the right way” and stressing that we have the mythical “student-athlete” has and will continue to condemn us to wallow in this position.
We don’t want to admit Jaquandarious Lightning because he’s just not Michigan material. We don’t want to push right up against the fucking line even sliding over it to land top talent? Than be happy in your righteousness and quit bitching about losing to the teams that frankly, don’t give a rats ass about perceptions.
If you’re Alabama or Clemson or OSU, you could hand the recruit a pile of cash on camera on signing day and flip the NCAA the bird while doing it. Those schools understand that THEY make the rules NOT some fake ass governing body . They know that they are the cash cow that runs this mother fucker and they act like it. We won’t hang fab 5 banners, self impose sanctions for chicken shit stretching violations and act like general bitches afraid of what the big boss might do or ashamed of what our esteemed alumni might think. We’re not alone in this. Texas, USC, ND. They all sit scared while watching the world pass them by. When USC got busted in the Reggie Bush scandal, they should have doubled down. Sure, you took away 1/3 of our scholarships, fine. The remaining recruits are all gonna be 5*s cuz we’re gonna fire $$ at them and fucking DARE YOU to shut us down. Bust us and take more scholarships? We’ll pay more. We’ll make our whole team walk ons getting back channeled 200k. THEY WILL NEVER SMU ANYBODY AGAIN. EVER. Alabama knows this. Clemson and OSU know this and they behave accordingly.

In your mind, Michigan is getting all the top talent if other programs weren’t dirty? How is Juwan able to recruit so well? He’s doing just fine with these imaginary limitations and you can’t say basketball recruiting is cleaner than football.

If a kid is eligible through the NCAA clearing house, he will get into Michigan. Football players don’t have to meet the same standards as a regular student for acceptance. If he’s getting into Clemson, he’s getting into Michigan. Harbaugh himself blasted academics for football players when he was at Stanford and Jourdan Lewis said he wasn’t allowed to pursue his preferred major because of football. So people can pretend there are 4/5 star players being turned away and going on to be all Americans at OSU, but it’s not reality.

When Dax Hill flipped from Michigan to Alabama people were complaining about the bag men, but when he flipped back, not a word was mentioned and I guess it was all on the up and up now. Whining that other schools pay players and will accept anyone, while Michigan is handcuffed is ridiculous. Do you really think it would take a bag of cash for a player to pick OSU over Michigan? They win the conference almost every year, make the playoffs half the time and won a National Championship 5 years ago.

Sorry for the rant, I hate this excuse because it’s what losers say when they run out of actual reasons and it sounds ridiculous to say OSU or Clemson has to cheat to get better players.

This DHughes post should be pinned as the top sticky.   The bs excuses for why we don’t get elite players is nonsense.  Players want to compete for championships and be developed to go to the league.  That’s why the continue to gravitate toward the perennial Top 5 programs.   We have had what 4-5 straight recruiting classes that have never beat OSU and many many more that have never played for a conference championship.  Stop making excuses for underperforming

Let’s see here. You have players arguing with fans on Twitter, liking tweets calling out certain things in the program, players wearing revenge tour shirts, and pictures of a former assistant on a hoodie before the biggest game of the year. All allowed by leader

There is a whole bunch of humble pie that should be eaten by a whole bunch of people

That’s the Michigan way. Instead of trying to understand why former GREATS say these things it’s instant attacks.

Jake Long was the former #1 pick all American Michigan stud. He played the game the right freaking way and led correctly. Never forgot when he grabbed Mallet after a TD as Mallet was acting like a jackass

Lol at all the fucking nerds in here critiquing Jake Long’s record against OSU. Dude put on the jersey for 4 years and put his body on the line he can say whatever the hell he wants. And guess what he is right. The pussification of this fan base is embarrassing. People need to sack up and realize not beating OSU isn’t ok anymore.

I'm just trying to understand Section 1's logic here.  First he says:

Lol at all the fucking nerds in here critiquing Jake Long’s record against OSU.

and then:

People need to sack up and realize not beating OSU isn’t ok anymore.

It’s a double edged sword for our guys. If they stay quiet then it’s proof that they don’t care about the opponent and they don’t have heart. If they show bravado and confidence then the fans say they should talk less and do more.

Many people talk shit about the “revenge tour” because we didn’t beat OSU, but they loved it through the MSU and PSU.

We gotta realize that people like section 1 and mboglog (or whatever her name is) are just trolls that will talk shit even if we win the natty.

All I ask for Michigan football going forward is to shut up and play.  I am sick of the talk from the players, coaches, media, etc......

Stop talking and just play football and let your play do the talking.

Jake Long should blame Lloyd Carr- despite all of Carr success - he retired too late without a succession plan ruined the program and encouraged people to transfer cause he didn’t like Rodriguez. He basically started our downward spiral. Harbaugh is doing his best to bring the program back to where Lloyd left it. I think Hoke started on the right path with his recruiting. People have unrealistic expectations. At least we’re not MSU reshuffling coaches to fix things- Harbaugh has brought in excellent new coaches to try and get better.

Or, and just bear with me here, he’s talking the TRUTH!

how often do we all say “do more, say less” about the football program and when Jake says exactly that he’s taking shots? Please! What the football program needs is to humble itself, since getting destroyed by its main rival yearly doesn’t seem to do the trick
