Jake Butt is calling the Hawaii game on BTN this weekend
Thought it was worth mentioning that Jake Butt is the color commentator for the game on BTN this weekend. Also, Devin Gardner is also calling games for FS1 now (He's doing Duke - Northwestern this weekend). Hopefully, we get to see him do a Michigan game this year as well.

Butt may want to stay out of the endzone as i'm told there are are occasional Ogji's in there. Unless you're into that sort of thing...
September 7th, 2022 at 11:21 AM ^
With Butt color commentary and an endzone watch for cat Orjis, was it really necessary for Hawaii to take the "rainbow" off of its mascot because people might get the wrong idea? Are they sure it wasn't the right idea?

Listening to the preseason podcast, I was sad for Seth that Jake Butt isn't still on the team. Seth was having so much fun on the podcast with "Orji in the backfield." He would have lost his mind at the chance for a Butt-Orji connection.

I've been reading MGoBlog for over a decade and you all never cease to stop making me giggle like a small boy. Seth and the fellas on the podcast with their outlandish hot takes voices and general banter, too. So bad. So good. #buttorji

Isaiah Hole from the Locked on Wolverine Podcast often has Jake on for commentary. They like to call it "The B1G Butt-Hole Podcast".

hillariously true.

They need to bring Penix in as a special guest.
Slowly and gently, of course
September 7th, 2022 at 7:25 PM ^
Make sure Penix wears a hat. Something brimless--like a fez.
September 8th, 2022 at 11:19 AM ^
And lots of lotion.

I enjoy Jake’s analysis on BTN, but, unfortunately, won’t be able to listen to Jake’s call. I’ll be enjoying the game from my seats in the Big House…
September 7th, 2022 at 12:23 PM ^
I haven't heard him yet and looking forward to Jake's analysis. RGIII didn't add much to the CSU game.
September 7th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
Grendel, I don’t know if you watch much BTN, but if / when you have a chance - tune n for Jake.
I’ll let you reach your own opinion - but, he’s personable and knowledgeable. Great to listen to…
September 8th, 2022 at 11:21 AM ^
I, along with many others posting here, thought RG III was great. Engaging personality, good analysis, and went outside the box on occasion, to good effect.

That's why we have DVRs!

Humble brag...
September 7th, 2022 at 11:00 AM ^
I look forward to it
September 7th, 2022 at 11:16 AM ^
Does that make it a booty call?
September 7th, 2022 at 11:18 AM ^
Man, so frustrating that the bowl game injury screwed up his career like that.
September 7th, 2022 at 1:17 PM ^
He's been doing a lot of radio on Sirius over the last few weeks (he does a nice job by the way). He did say he was a little bummed that he missed out on some great NIL opportunities. Especially from the toilet paper market.
September 7th, 2022 at 11:18 AM ^
It's always a good time when Butt is on the call.
September 7th, 2022 at 3:03 PM ^
The more jokes Butt cracks, the better.
September 7th, 2022 at 11:31 AM ^
It's a shame he and Orji didn't play during the same years. A Butt-Orji touchdown would've been a sight to see.
September 7th, 2022 at 11:53 AM ^
Whoops, I made the same comment above without scrolling down to see you had done it. I was thinking of that when Seth was losing his mind over Orji on the pre-season podcast. He might not have survived a Butt-Orji connection.
September 7th, 2022 at 2:24 PM ^
Yea, just think about all the gaping holes it would open up in defenses.
September 8th, 2022 at 10:52 AM ^
“Gaping holes” not a thing
September 7th, 2022 at 11:51 AM ^
Maybe he should avoid talking about how he “dated a lot of girls who weren’t that pretty, but they loved me” like he did on BTN this past week. Especially after the commentary guys on the UM-CSU game made comments like “those girls look like they're trying to get married tonight!” while showing U-M students or “It’s like seeing a women without makeup, you know what she really looks like”. Man am I excited for Klatt/Gus game calls. At least they focus on the game on the field, don’t get names wrong, and don’t make make misogynistic comments.
September 7th, 2022 at 1:24 PM ^
You pay far more attention to commentary than most do.
People make awkward or problematic comments frequently when they are starting out. Especially former athletes who are used to locker room talk.
Butt has a Twitter page. Perhaps you could share your concerns with him on there.
September 7th, 2022 at 7:47 PM ^
Bit of a boys will be boys response, Sal. RGIII was 100x worse though.

I feel like the entire sequence in Private Parts (the movie) can be played out here. Just need to get a Richard and a feline to join the crew and it practically writes itself.
September 7th, 2022 at 12:10 PM ^
Butt and Orji go together like peas and carrots.
September 7th, 2022 at 12:25 PM ^
Butt, along with Nicole Auerbach, was co-hosting an afternoon show last week on SiriusXM ESPNU radio and his insight was excellent. He is a future star in the sports media world. BTN was smart to grab him.
It's pretty incredible the amount of talented national sports journalists and media personalities UM currently has: Besides Auerbach and Butt, off the top of my head there's Jalen Rose, Desmond Howard, Charles Woodson, Rich Eisen, Adam Schefter, Tracy Wolfson, Dana Jacobson, Richard Deitsch, Devin Gardner. I'm sure I'm missing some too.
BTW, Wolfson and Jacobson were the honorary captains last Saturday for the Colorado St game.
September 7th, 2022 at 1:48 PM ^
There's probably more, but you can add Brian Griese to the list. And future Tom Brady, of course.
September 8th, 2022 at 11:04 AM ^
Griese is now the qb coach for the 49ers

I just want to see and hear Michigan men calling Michigan games.
I can only tolerate Herbstreit as I remember him laying on the turf as Michigan crushed his sole in THE GAME.
Seeing Meyer on Fox makes me sick. Almost as sick as any time Tressel returns to the shoe they carry him on their shoulders.
More Michigan Men on BTN!
September 7th, 2022 at 12:45 PM ^
Regarding Meyer, he actually did a decent job breaking down games during his last stint (prior to the Jags) on the Big Noon Kickoff show. However, the man is an absolute slimeball and hearing his voice and seeing his face makes me sick. FOX should have passed on bringing him back. Between Meyer and Clay Travis, FOX couldn't have two more despicable people as part of their pregame show.
It was reported this morning that Pat McAfee is joining College Gameday (likely to replace Lee Corso). Why FOX didn't try to get McAfee to join Big Noon Kickoff is a mystery, especially since FOX already has him under contract for WWE coverage.
September 7th, 2022 at 12:50 PM ^
During the Purdue game they showed the upset highlights over Ohio and rather then face the comment or discuss he walked away down the sideline. Meyer has no business being a part of college football commentary.
September 8th, 2022 at 6:58 AM ^
It’ll be a sad day when coach leaves gameday. He was a gem for the longest time
September 7th, 2022 at 1:21 PM ^
Honestly, I like Urban on there as he offers some great insight. I like Leinart also. The other two (Bush and Quinn) add zero to the broadcast.
September 7th, 2022 at 1:47 PM ^
Brady Quinn is one of those guys ------ I just don't get it.
He's been on Fox Sports Radio for years now too, and I've never heard an insightful thing from him.
He is better than his radio co-host LaVar though. That Browns/Lions game they brought LaVar in for last November - I get that it was Fox Sports' 8th priority NFL game for the week - but still. Yes, "3rd-and-short is easier to convert for the Lions versus 3rd-and-long." Worst commentator I've heard on an NFL game in years.
September 7th, 2022 at 2:10 PM ^
While we're talking about guys we don't like but are good at commentating, Matt Millen comes to mind. He's really good at breaking down games as they happen and he's got a high energy personality. Honestly he's one of the best in the business right now.
September 7th, 2022 at 6:16 PM ^
Jon Gruden was a great color commentator too.
*rim shot* then *pervasive audience groan*
