"Iowa has faced 2 better RB's than Haskins"
This is an actual quote from a podcast from Black Heart Gold Pants site (go to 31:50 for the quote).
What does PFF (or OSU defensive line) know?
If they think Hassan Haskins is only the third best RB that they have faced all year, I don't think they will have any idea what hit them after the dust settles on Saturday.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:16 AM ^
I can only think they'd mean ISU and Wisconsin. I'll try to be a bit unbiased and give em Breece Hall from ISU.
But that frosh RB from Wisconsin isn't Haskins.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:16 AM ^
I don't know enough to make an informed judgment on this. That said, Haskins is a m'fing beast who never stops fighting for extra yards. I don't think I even enjoyed watching Mike Hart as much as I enjoy watching Haskins. And, even assuming the other backs are better individually than Haskins, they have not faced a stable of backs like we have with Haskins, Corum, and Edwards.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:21 AM ^
Ok cool
Hask 'em
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:16 PM ^
Hask 'em
I like this. This should officially be a thing from now on.
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:06 PM ^
I regret that I have but one upvote to give.

Okay - but these arent the guys playing on the field. just as we arent. im sure they saw what we did last week. i hope corum and edwards can keep balance enough to keep haskins fresh.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:27 AM ^
This is actually a great thing for them to think so that when Hassan runs over Iowa for 200+ yards they can truly say they just faced the best back all season. PERIOD!
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:27 AM ^
That's ok. We've faced 4 teams better than Iowa.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:53 PM ^
Ohio, MSU, PSU, Wisconsin, Nebraska. That's 5...
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:24 PM ^
Nebraska isn't winning a football game against an efficient team that plays great special teams, as we literally just saw.
December 3rd, 2021 at 2:22 PM ^
Nebraska is fucking terrible and they are not better than Iowa. Nebraska was 3-9 for fuck sake.
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:02 PM ^
Was half-joking. They aren't far from Iowa though. In F+ fancy-stat Iowa is #25, Nebraska #32 (MSU #33, lol).
December 3rd, 2021 at 6:26 PM ^
I mean, if they played a clean, mistake-free game I think they could beat Iowa. I just don't think they can play a clean, mistake free game lol.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
Uof〽️ RB room is deep, it’s one of the best in country. We all love Hassan but I don’t think he’s the most talented back on the roster. I’m so happy we Hassan, Blake and Edwards.
〽️Go Blue〽️
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:31 AM ^
He said, "The spread is 10 1/2. That is basically 1 possession." Do they use a different scoring system in Iowa city?
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:46 AM ^
It's within one score of a one-possession game
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:01 PM ^
"Within 1 possession of a cover."
I mean, if covering is close enough for Iowa fans, cool, let them cover.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:32 AM ^
Totally a dumb statement because Iowa hasn't faced Haskins yet. If they say that after the game then so be it.
Let's hope Michigan gives this Iowa team such a drubbing-GO BLUE!
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:54 PM ^
LOL
@hhaskins25 ->
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:32 AM ^
But have they faced 2 better RB's than the combo Haskins, Corum, and Edwards?
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
I was thinking that yesterday on my 200th rewatching of the game highlights - does anyone have a better RB room than we do? I'd put Haskins-Corum-Edwards up against anyone in the country. Those are 3 guys who will at least stick on an NFL roster for a bit
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:34 AM ^
The only thing that matters is Haskins hearing this. Their opinion will get fixed.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:36 AM ^
It's Haskins/Corum/Edwards they have to deal with and I think they will use Edwards/Corum in this game to really fuck with the Iowa LB's.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:38 AM ^
They seem to give up a lot of passing yards, so yeah.. Go ahead and key in on just the running game. See how that works out for you...
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:39 AM ^
Iowa thought they were gonna make it through the 2021 season ducking OSU, MSU and UM.
Not so fast, my friend.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:43 AM ^
Sounds like bulletin board material to me.
Not only for HH, but the M O-Line too.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:45 AM ^
So --- Iowa will be competitive because: 1. letdown, 2. Iowa has an extra day of rest, 3. McNamara doesn't pass a lot and is only a so-so athlete, 4. Haskins is average, 5. Michigan didn't blow out Rutgers, 6. Iowa will take care of 'business' in a 'business-like' way, 7. we only care about beating OSU.
It is weird hearing other people talk about UM the way they used to talk about OSU as far as 'talent' goes.
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:24 PM ^
Is this a summary of what they called Iowa's "path to victory"?
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:46 AM ^
Haskins is going to hurdle these podcasters for this slight.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:49 AM ^
I just hope we win. Iowa scares me and I’m more nervous than I was last week. It’s not as if we’re playing Indiana here, Iowa is a dangerous team under any circumstances let alone for a chance at the CFP.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:51 AM ^
Iowa can drag this game into a rock fight, which worries me, as well. That's the kind of game they want. The key for us? Don't turn the ball over.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:09 PM ^
We are all about rock fights.
December 3rd, 2021 at 3:21 PM ^
Yeah, last couple years M would've lost a rock fight. This year? Don't think so, the OL/DL will just pick up a bigger rock and throw it back hard.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:12 PM ^
The key is to not turn the ball over, but Michigan is absolutely comfortable with rock fights. That's basically what the Wisconsin, UW, and PSU games were. The difference is that UM can also turn it into a track meet, something Iowa absolutely doesn't want to compete in. So if UM gets up 7-10 Iowa isn't equipped to throw the ball to get back into it.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:52 AM ^
That's cool. When we split Corum and Edwards behind Cade and run the scissors on them, they'll realize they should've worried about the entire RB room.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
I should look up scissoring videos to understand the formation youre talking about . . .
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:53 AM ^
... Ok.
How many better OLs has Iowa faced WITH a very good RB behind it?
Cause I don't think facing an equal-ish back to Haskins means you're going to have a fun time tomorrow considering OSU's DL and LBs were eating faces full of 300 pound OL every play.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:53 AM ^
Iowa fans are a little feistier than I expected. Some guy was going on about how we're "overrated" because Michigan and Iowa apparently have the same record over the last 20 years. Of course he didn't mention that we compete in the East and they compete in the West, funny thing about that. (Also: RichRod going 3-9 in 2008 isn't super relevant to 2021.)
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:34 PM ^
Outside of OSU and MSU in conference, Iowa feels like the team that has the most outward disdain towards us. Minnesota, Wisconsin, Penn State all have their fair share but in my experience Iowa fans really seem to have a weird Michigan State like complex about Michigan.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:44 PM ^
I’ve been to Kinnick and never felt that way. It always seemed like there was a mutual respect of smash mouth big 10 football. I can guarantee that they aren’t OSU fans by any means. I’d rank Iowa fans as some of the most decent and hospitable in the conference.
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:07 PM ^
I'm glad you've had good experiences. I haven't had a chance to make it to Kinnick yet but have been to games at each of the other venues. Just my anecdotal experience with Iowa fans in various interactions.
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:42 PM ^
Iowa fans are proud believers. I remember going to watch Iowa play at the Big House in 2002 and Iowa fans being among the most boisterous rude fans I had ever encountered at Michigan Stadium, and that includes attendance at two Ohio State games. That day, Brad Banks and Dallas Clark put an ass-whupping on the Wolverines, 34-9. Michigan couldn't do anything right that day and couldn't nor rarely tried to run the ball. That was the most lopsided loss I ever saw the Wolverines experience at home.
December 3rd, 2021 at 1:50 PM ^
I remember that game! Iowa slowly chocked the life out of Michigan. I was almost as mad as I was after the Spartan Bob game. But the team just couldn't do anything.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:54 AM ^
They are still fairly complimentary of the rushing attack overall. Once Haskins drags their talented LBs for 3 yards after contact a few times they will understand.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:55 AM ^
Go Blue. Beat Iowa—and Iowa silliness.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:57 AM ^
I just looked at the 2022 schedule -- I didn't know before now that we play at Kinnick next season. Hey, they can have that one, if we can have this one. Deal, Iowa fans?
December 3rd, 2021 at 3:45 PM ^
Hey, check with us before offering deals like that. Win tomorrow, win next year. Sorry Iowa, M still owes you a few.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:59 AM ^
I'd imagine that Hassan is more than sufficiently motivated to begin with, but if he needed a burr under the saddle, this will work.
December 3rd, 2021 at 11:59 AM ^
that's cute
December 3rd, 2021 at 12:04 PM ^
Do tell. I'll hang up now and listen
