Zach Shaw at 247 put up some injury updates:
Jeter/Ross/Runyan - expected to play
Tru/DPJ/Spanellis - Questionable
Dwumfour - Likely Out
September 16th, 2019 at 11:26 PM ^
Media injury list: Yoder has been put on the writer unable to perform list. His return to credibility is doubtful.

"Return" to credibility?
September 17th, 2019 at 7:49 AM ^
As his wife keeps trying, in ways subtle and unsubtle, to tell us!
September 16th, 2019 at 11:27 PM ^
Here's mine:
DPJ & Dwumfour:
They are both game day decisions. There is a short list of 4-6 players that need time to heel. Monday doesn’t mean squat. Practice by Weds or Thursday and you play under JH’s policy.
Shea is still sore but improving and is ready to go.
RB - Turner will play. Wilson is still questionable.
WR - DPJ very questionable, may not play. Schoenle questionable, doubtful.
OL - Runyan and Mayfield banged up. Both will try to play if they can.
DL - Dwumfour might give it a go, but doubtful.
LB - Ross is fine.

whats quentin johnson dealing with? jw
September 16th, 2019 at 11:30 PM ^
Does "still sore but improving" mean he'll keep and run if it's there?
September 16th, 2019 at 11:33 PM ^
Why do you have to ask the serious and hard questions? You know the answer already...
You have been around here a long time. :)
September 16th, 2019 at 11:40 PM ^
Point taken.
September 17th, 2019 at 3:40 AM ^
Putin taken.
September 17th, 2019 at 7:47 AM ^
Fair catch
September 17th, 2019 at 7:50 AM ^
Here, have another one. I hear they're working.
September 17th, 2019 at 10:30 AM ^
He did last year for an 80 yd run last year vs. Wisconsin. I want the old Shea back
September 16th, 2019 at 11:41 PM ^
So Jeter is fine? Hopefully we see some good snaps from him.
September 16th, 2019 at 11:51 PM ^
I could have sworn I saw Jeter get in a bit against Army.
September 17th, 2019 at 6:03 AM ^
I also saw him. He was laying on a pile on a short yardage play.
September 16th, 2019 at 11:43 PM ^
Runyan and Mayfield will “try to play if they can”?
Yikes. I was hoping for better news.
Thx for the update.
September 17th, 2019 at 12:37 AM ^
If Runyan and Mayfield are both out, our OTs are Hayes and ??
September 17th, 2019 at 12:57 AM ^
Honingford was the other name in the mix at OT a couple weeks back. One of the Freshman may be pushing there though - Jones/Keegan?
September 17th, 2019 at 8:32 AM ^
Barnhart played vs MTSU. He's ahead of Jones and Keegan.
September 17th, 2019 at 7:23 AM ^
Is it possible for all of the tackles to be injured at the same time?
September 17th, 2019 at 9:41 AM ^
Let's not even tempt the gods with that one.
September 17th, 2019 at 1:00 PM ^
AMOTHG
September 16th, 2019 at 11:45 PM ^
Damn, I hate to see "very questionable" next to DPJ. And Runyan "banged up" doesn't sound good. What is Runyan's injury? Get well guys.
September 17th, 2019 at 1:40 AM ^
Runyan hasn't played yet this year, I don't believe. Back is what he's been out with. Bummer that he's still not ready.
Mayfield being banged up is the worse news and for all the talk about false rumors, this is confirmation that a Mayfield injury exists (severity the only question).
September 17th, 2019 at 12:34 AM ^
So, Michigan has 1 tackle out for the year and another 2 that are banged up? There went all that wonderful depth we started Fall camp with.
September 17th, 2019 at 1:51 AM ^
Man...that seems like really bad news. Hopefully Dwumfour, Runyan, and Mayfield especially can get at least close to 100% by Saturday, or this could be a dire one.
September 17th, 2019 at 5:59 AM ^
If Runyan is still “banged up,” is it safe to assume that he will remain that way all season? I get that he had a back issue, but he hasn’t played in order to heal, correct?
Why isn’t it healing? It is just odd, he is dressed and “could play” against MTSU, but we’re going on 3 weeks later and his status has not changed? It is just a bit confusing to me.
September 17th, 2019 at 11:28 AM ^
Very easily could have reaggravated it over the past 3 weeks.
September 17th, 2019 at 7:47 AM ^
Ugh. I really need to find something else to do on Saturday's.
September 17th, 2019 at 8:00 AM ^
So wait you could be banged up from the week before, be one of the most important players on the team, and you don't play unless you practice by Wednesday or Thursday?? Holy cow that is ass backwards in todays football atmosphere. At least I know why his teams nose dive in Nov and our kids are always so banged up late in the season.
September 17th, 2019 at 8:11 AM ^
I think it actually is the opposite of the way you are thinking about it. I think the thought is if you cannot practice on something you should not be playing on it. Harbaugh has shown they he will venture into the ethical “grey area” in things involving recruiting and personnel management, but I have seen no evidence at all that he is flippant or compromised when it comes to player safety. If anything I think that his players think they are ready to return earlier than he does.
September 17th, 2019 at 8:45 AM ^
I really don't think that is the case. Gary's mom made a comment about it last year. Sometimes guys need an extra couple days to get healed up. It is an old school approach to football that doesn't vibe anymore. 85 scholarship limit plus kids being bigger, faster, stronger than 30 years ago has led coaches to being smarter with practice. There are some great podcasts and articles written on this subject from coaches who have scaled backed on their kids.
Some of you need to listen to the Saquan Barkley interview on how he never practiced at PSU. He did things off to the side all week then ready to go on Saturdays.
September 17th, 2019 at 8:45 AM ^
A couple years ago I remarked that there was either a New York Times or Wall Street Journal article relating to Rob Lytle's draft status and the comment that NFL teams were somewhat leery of Michigan players due to their practices being so tough that the players' bodies were worn down.
That was during Bo's reign. JH is a disciple.
Any thoughts on the intensity of our practices and the amount of injuries, particularly to key players?
September 17th, 2019 at 10:02 AM ^
Bo ran some hard practices. Remember before a bowl game Woody came up and Bo asked Woody what he thought. Woody said they were soft.
So how ye practices so how ye plays. Vince Lombardi.
In this modern day guys are bigger with speed. And they play the game they love. Get well soon to do what you love to do.
September 17th, 2019 at 9:30 AM ^
If I was coach and coming off of a bye week with an injured star receiver, against a very good team (on the road), I'd absolutely not tell them to prepare for him. DPJ "questionable and may not play" is good enough for me today. Saturday? hope to see him in uniform warming up on the field.
September 17th, 2019 at 12:32 PM ^
Mayfield was the rumored injury everyone was losing their minds about. Sam Webb commented on that saying someone did get banged up, it was a hyperextension, but an MRI revealed no damage and no time was expected to be missed.
Webb didn't specifically say Mayfield, but it seemed clear that was his intent.
September 17th, 2019 at 2:56 PM ^
So was Mayfield injured in practice???
September 16th, 2019 at 11:28 PM ^
Its all on Jeter and Kemp on the Dline to stop Taylor.... gulp...
September 16th, 2019 at 11:41 PM ^
Don't forget our secret weapon... Paul Chryst.
September 17th, 2019 at 2:09 PM ^
Oh Christ!
September 17th, 2019 at 12:58 AM ^
Mazi and HInton should get some run in this game, albeit perhaps in a limited capacity as you dont want freshman DTs going at Jonathan Taylor for too many snaps.
September 17th, 2019 at 6:12 AM ^
Wisconsin will be starting a true freshman NT and we probably won’t even notice it. We can’t use ours because they might get owies against Jonathan Taylor? We better not see Mason getting trucked every play.
September 17th, 2019 at 10:37 AM ^
We have a 1,000 lb NFL caliber interior OL and Zach Charbonnet. We will notice when Wisconsin trots out their true freshman NT starter in their 3-4 defense. Either they will stack the box to help him & it opens up the edges & pass game, or they leave him on an island and we run it down his his throat.
Bottom line is it seems we are equally matched. Defenses have similar weaknesses. Our QB is better than theirs, but they have a healthier OL/OTs so their mediocre QB may have extra time in the pocket.
September 17th, 2019 at 10:43 AM ^
Hope so. Right now I don't know if our play caller has the killer instinct to attack a weakness in the defense.
September 17th, 2019 at 11:25 AM ^
If the play callers QB isn't fumbling the ball all over the field, and his WR's aren't dropping everything thrown at them, I suspect we'll see an attack we haven't seen since Carr beat the shit out of Floriduh so many years ago...
Gattis saw, up close and personal, how Alabama closes out games. He was part of that. He was also part of PSU's Deep State attack that closed out games mercilessly. Those lessons weren't lost on him, like Locksley would have you believe.
Now, I'm pretty sure you're talking about Harbaugh as the play caller. But I'll say it - I think the two games we've seen were just weird circumstance football.
September 17th, 2019 at 3:00 PM ^
I absolutely agree with your closing sentence. Hell during the end of the army game I was hoping we would run it to avoid giving them the ball back. It was a weird game, and I understand why we appeared to turtle in the 4th.
September 17th, 2019 at 3:06 PM ^
God, I hope you're right!
September 16th, 2019 at 11:44 PM ^
It's all smoke and mirrors... Well know for sure on Saturday morning at about 11:55
September 16th, 2019 at 11:45 PM ^
