Indiana loses to IPFW, 92-72

Indiana, fresh off of a big win just two days ago against Notre Dame, just got smoked by IPFW. IU gave up 56 points in the second half. What a strange team

We were all gaga over Bamba, but I think he would have been third string at best. Rim protection is elite but we need a center who is at least functional on offense (especially at setting screens, which Bamba is terrible at) in order to make everything work.

I watched a lot of that game last night and WOOF - Texas is bad.  I thought they could be an interesting team to watch and root for the rest of the year (in the interest of bolstering Michigan's prospects) but they look awful. When I turned it on there was 7+ minutes left in the 1st half and they had nine points. NINE (9).  I guess they're really lost without that Jones dude.  But I kept thinking about what Brian  and others said on WTKA and on the board - that they're actually not well coached.  I thought Smart was a legit coach and would be in the next generation of great ones, but I don't know.  They look confused out there and don't make good decisions. Hope they can turn it around and make Michigan look good.  UCLA too.

Tennessee State had the lowest FG% allowed in the OVC the past two seasons so they are a good defensive squad.  OK, so that and buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee but I guess it's something?  Yeah, probably not.  Bottom line, Texas cannot shoot.  They have athletes all over but no one that can get them in their half-court set without Andrew Jones.  I was never really impressed with Smart at VCU and so far his Texas tenure has done nothing to change my mind.

It would be great to see the conference kill it in non-conference play.  Going 10-8, 11-7 the way things look right now could put us in a potential 2nd round matchup against a 1/2 seed.

ND bball is bipolar as well...beat a very good Wichita team, then laid an absolute egg vs. Sparty. A week later they handled a cupcake then lost to Ball State at home.

My point was that 29 is a lot of 3's, and they're being shot because IU probably wasn't defending the line well. This was a criticism of Beilein teams as well, and we've gotten better at it over the last two years. Having IPFW make almost 60% of their threes can't be helped (probably), but IU could definitely work a little harder at preventing those shots. We shoot a lot of threes. How often do we put up 29 of them in a game? Also, they lost by 20. Even if IPFW shoots 40% from three they still win.
