Somewhere, Tom Crean's face is bright red and spit is flying out of his mouth

I have a theory that Tom Crean helped Craig James (allegedly) kill those 5 hookers

they won 47-46. Over Tennessee State at home! They shot 3-21 from three. Mo Bamba was 1-8 from the field (I'm not even disappointed we didn't get him given how solid Teske has been).
Hopefully, they can hold it together until Jones comes back.

We were all gaga over Bamba, but I think he would have been third string at best. Rim protection is elite but we need a center who is at least functional on offense (especially at setting screens, which Bamba is terrible at) in order to make everything work.

I watched a lot of that game last night and WOOF - Texas is bad. I thought they could be an interesting team to watch and root for the rest of the year (in the interest of bolstering Michigan's prospects) but they look awful. When I turned it on there was 7+ minutes left in the 1st half and they had nine points. NINE (9). I guess they're really lost without that Jones dude. But I kept thinking about what Brian and others said on WTKA and on the board - that they're actually not well coached. I thought Smart was a legit coach and would be in the next generation of great ones, but I don't know. They look confused out there and don't make good decisions. Hope they can turn it around and make Michigan look good. UCLA too.

Tennessee State had the lowest FG% allowed in the OVC the past two seasons so they are a good defensive squad. OK, so that and buck fifty will get you a cup of coffee but I guess it's something? Yeah, probably not. Bottom line, Texas cannot shoot. They have athletes all over but no one that can get them in their half-court set without Andrew Jones. I was never really impressed with Smart at VCU and so far his Texas tenure has done nothing to change my mind.

You're delusional. Bamba is a specimen, and just because the highly overrated Shaka Smart can't develope offense doesn't mean Beilein can't or that things wouldn't look different had Bamba chosen Michigan.

Hard to see them making the NIT.
December 18th, 2017 at 11:17 PM ^
is only for mid-majors.
IU won't be playing in the postseason unless they can get to .500 and be eligible for the NIT which I don't see happening.
December 19th, 2017 at 2:42 AM ^
have played in the CBI. Michigan has turned down invitations.
You may be thinking of the CIT. That is restricted to mid-majors and below.
December 20th, 2017 at 2:41 AM ^
I had them mixed up, hence not being 100% sure. CIT is the one that doesn't invite majors, the CBI is the one that gets turned down when it invites majors (no major has accepted in the last two years). I doubt IU would accept an invite so the point remains.

It would be great to see the conference kill it in non-conference play. Going 10-8, 11-7 the way things look right now could put us in a potential 2nd round matchup against a 1/2 seed.
