If JH leaves, who could be external candidates for the job?

Given how late in the cycle it is, I recognize that Moore is most likely going to be promoted to HC.  But assume they’d want to bring in external guys to compete against him, at a minimum.  Who would be targets?
IMO, Brian Flores would be a great target if he hadn’t literally just sone scorched earth litigation against our biggest donor.

Id certainly kick the tires on Hartline.
DeMeco Ryans would be a attention grabbing hire (and would allow you to keep Moore), but he’s probably getting an NFL job, and if he hit, he’d probably get poached by Bama.

Who else is out there?  A lot of the younger guys on the up and up seem like bad cultural fits.

For real, no one more overrated. Can't believe there were so many people on here downright salivating over him for so long. I think he hasn't left I-State yet though because deep down he knows he's not really the savior coach everyone thinks he is. He's...just a coach.

I live in DM and there are tons of Iowa St people here and the local media covers them very heavily. Everytime there is a job opening at a big program the last few years - Oklahoma and Nebraska especially-  talk radio here is full of locals worrying about him getting poached. He was almost always considered an option for all of these openings...but not after this season. I haven't heard his name at all.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted.

I get that PJ is a bit cringe with his shirt/tie/fleece combo, his over the top altruisms, and his dad from Mallrats vibe, but I think he's legitimately a good coach considering what he's done in Minnesota with a clear talent/location disadvantage.

I was thinking this earlier, before this crap thread was made.  His team is currently getting whupped, but that's probably because Rising is out and they just deflated at that point.  But his teams always play hard, play fast, and play to win.  I really like watching Utah play.  I'd take Whittingham in a heartbeat, but I don't know what kind of moon shot it would take to get him out of Utah.
