I kinda hope Frost succeeds?

Scott Frost has a punchable face. He's made a lot of arrogant comments. Having said that, he's the kind of guy I like to hate. He doesn't have any scandals (knock on wood). As far as I know, he hasn't hired any assistants who were embroiled in horrific sexual assault scandals like some schools have. I think the conference, and especially the West division, would be a lot more interesting with a good Nebraska squad. They're never going to be a death star like OSU. They'll always be beatable by a good Michigan team. Wisconsin is a good program of course, but they're not so good that they should be a shoe-in for division champs most years (though maybe taking a step back with Chryst). That's basically where I would like to see them, at a Wisconsin level of success. Nebraska has a lot of history and from what everyone seems to say, they're generally nicer than most fanbases. Who knows what will happen, but it would be really cool if, say, Ferentz retires and Iowa hires Bielema (alum with a Hawkeye tattoo) and Iowa-Nebraska turns into a real rivalry. The only thing that gives me pause about this is Nebraska has rotated onto our schedule for the next few years through 2025, but oh well.

Side note: I forgot we play at Texas in 2024. Xavier Worthy would be a senior. Having said that, there's a good chance he'll be in the draft before his senior year :/

I thought Nebraska played above their talent level, and their coaches put their players in a position to succeed.  I was impressed with their play calling, and they played hard.  I know people rightfully dislike him because of past comments, and because of things his mom said, but his press conference was very complementary of Michigan, and he seems very passionate about his team.  I think he is a good coach, and if they could cut down on boneheaded plays and mistakes, they could be very good going forward.

Boneheaded mistakes are a feature of his program, not a bug.

At this point he has no choice to be gracious in defeat.  He's in year 4 and is once again in danger of missing a bowl - at a school that fired Bo Pelini after he consistently went 9-4, and then fired Mike Riley a year after he went 9-4.

I agree that Wisconsin has it too easy.  But they've had it so easy schedule wise for so long, I can't imagine them in any other scenario.  Long before the divisions, they were always given the easiest possible path to B1G title contention.  Barry Alvarez's Rose Bowl teams always avoided a major team in conference, in addition to losing to Michigan.  The media still sucked them off anyway.  Having the luxury of playing in the West Division, of course that would be the case.

Yes, it would be nice if the Badgers had something more than the occasional Iowa team standing in their way but.....It really goes against my nature to root for Scott Frost in any way.  I don't know if I have it in me.

I kinda hope Scott Frost keeps getting Lucy-ed by Michigan for the rest of his life. That way, if I ever see him, I can say, "Hey, Scott! You've never beat Michigan in your entire life.  What makes you think you would've beaten them back in '97?!" #notoverit.

I'm the opposite, I want OSU to come into The Game having all of their hopes and dreams right there, and for the Wolverines to snatch it away. Every Year.

Unfortunately in this anti-Michigan Matrix we've been living in the last 2 decades, OSU has managed to get all the success and be our "Lucy"

The problem with this logic is that an OSU that is 11-0 every year going into  Michigan will remain a recruiting juggernaut.  We need their talent level to drop down a notch.

Plus it's just difficult to defeat a team that good.

No.  Nebraska is M's fixed West division opponent for the next 4 years.  Get Frost out of there and start a rebuild for a couple or 3 years.

NEB needs something to look forward to other than corn. Seriously, Scott is probably the best they can do. He loves that place and they will be making a mistake getting rid off him.

Having said that, I am not sure if I care how WEST fares. Wisconsin is not coming out of B1G that easily. So, NEB can win 5 or 6 games a year or an occasional 8 games for all I care. Not going to root for Scott. If any team that I would rather see succeed in the west it is Iowa.

I hope Nebraska keeps Frost around, but I certainly don't hope he succeeds. I can't stand the guy. Honestly, I might even like Ryan Day more (I know, I know....OK I feel dirty now)

If they can just cut down on the self inflicted errors they could easily be a Western division and possibly NY6 contender. They probably should be in the neighborhood of 4-2 or even 5-1 right now. They have some great play calling and consistently put Michigan on the ropes in the second half, but it’s the stupid mistakes at the worst possible times that do them in almost every week.

I was at a college football game yesterday and was talking to someone close to the OSU program and let's just say that more people than you think are very glad Urban is gone from OSU and college football. Talking scandals some current and former OSU players are not upset he is gone. The cover ups and problems were getting a bit much for those that have a further view than just winning games. Thought it was a interesting conversation

OSU has to go to Nebraska right after their game against Penn State.  Frost and Martinez are going to be desperate for a 'signature' win and that OSU defense is going to struggle against Nebraska.  So I'll be rooting for Scott Frost in that one.  After that...eh.

All the Scott Frost items, such as the highly punchable face, aside for the moment, he probably is one of their better chances to at least get a considerable portion of the way back to the fairly reliable 9-3 seasons of Bo Pelini, if indeed that is the aim. I am not sure who else they would get that wouldn't set them back another several years at least, and the tone of Nebraska boards right now doesn't seem to scream patience.

I don't like Frost but I don't hate Nebraska. There's a part of me that has wondered for a while now whether they should just embrace the Triple Option again. Plenty of schools in that area still run it. The Bible Belt isn't totally made up of hyper-Spread schools to recruit from, plenty are coached by guys just like Frost that teach what they learned as kids (the triple option). The talent base is there for that.

It's just a unique situation. Their problem is Michigan's problem but multiplied and magnified 10x, in that they have no local talent base. If they don't import talent they'll die and it's not exactly an easy place to get a kid to come to.

I'll just end by saying that they have never really felt like a Big Ten team to me. They still don't and I'm not sure they ever will. They probably should but they don't and in my case I think it's down to having grown up watching them in whatever Conference Oklahoma/Texas were in. Those three just seem like they should always be together.

I'm gonna argue the "doesn't have any scandals" part. First, he was a big part of Nebraska trying to go rogue against the B1G only schedule last year, first arguing to leave the conference when the season was cancelled, then trying to add an OOC game when one of their games was cancelled. It was whiney and a bad look, quite selfish in a pandemic season where everyone was making sacrifices. Second, and more importantly, there were reports he was caught violating or at least trying to circumvent the Covid safety rules last season, and was ratted out by an old assistant. I haven't heard anything on that since the summer, but it sounded pretty bad. If they don't make a bowl this year, that may be enough for the school to fire him.

Scott Frost relies too much on Adrian Martinez. I mean, what else is of note is on the offense besides him? Nebraska fans are scorching Martinez. But really it's Frost, who has not developed a running game, that should be the focus of the fans. You can't expect your QB to be strong enough to not get stripped on a run play up the middle. It's hard enough for very strong RBs to hold onto the ball on plays like that.

That particular call was defensible (it was 3rd and 1) but as a Michigan fan I was happy whenever they kept it on the ground.  Martinez completed 12 of his first 13 attempts in the second half, including some improbable escapes, but Frost chose to keep it on that ground that series, with three straight designed runs that burned about 1:15 off the clock.

I'm having as little problem with him using an illegal pick play, i.e. offensive pass interference, to convert that 4th down at the beginning of the game.

There was a moment when he looked like he was going to cry that I almost felt bad for him. Almost. Now the moments passed and Scott Frost and his mom can both get fucked.

Nebraska can also go to hell. Love seeing them get beat and I hope they are never a good program.  Some Of this comes because I live in Colorado and their fans are insufferable.  I have hated that school as long and as much as I do OSU

Nebraska was surprisingly good in the second half.  Frost needs to win more games to keep his job.  They’re going to be 5-7 or 6-6 this year.  How do they have MSU, UofM and OSU on their schedule?  B1G isn’t doing them any favors. Scheduling Oklahoma is a self inflicted wound.  I think the B1G needs a strong Nebraska, Iowa and Wisconsin.   Not to mention the rest of the west.
